Hi Jason, please do make the comparison between the 35mm 1.8 and the 24MM 1.4. Keep these videos coming. Having been in a similar situation, in which stress consumes your life. I found that stopping, breathing and having a quick second to rethink will give you a different perspective. Hope you guys enjoy your time there.

I own both. If you're going somewhere and want to shoot landscape photos, then the 24mm is the obvious choice. For keeping your pack small, though, the 35mm is FAR smaller and lighter. And it's fast and makes beautiful photos. I'm lucky enough to have both, but I wouldn't be without both. I shoot a lot of close-up stuff at concerts, and the 24mm is helpful in that area, but it distorts a tad at the edges of the image. The 35mm looks better in that regard.
Trippalhealicks do you find the 24 distorts peoples faces (makes their noses look big)? That’s the thing that worries me about getting it

I have mind from march 2019 and i have a lot of chance to get it at this time. I'm really impressed by this lens...quality and size are so good!
I rented it to shoot a video and I fell in love with this beast. Sharp, Superfast focus, crazy bokeh and beautiful colors out of it without any editing. Now I am stealing every penny I find in my kid's bags and my wife purse to save to buy it.

I have: Sony A7Riii, 24-70mm 2.8 GM, 16-35mm 2.8 GM, 35mm 2.8 zeiss, and 85mm 1.8 sony. I am not a wedding photographer and I can usually control my time and location. I want the best IQ and also if possible, lighter lenses for my gimbal. I would keep the 16-35 because I like to shoot landscape once in a while, but not sure if the 24-70mm is worth selling to I can get 2 new primes? what would you do? which lenses would you get? or would you keep the GM zooms?
It is my go-to lens 90-95% of the time. Perfect to record your life... complement it with the 55mm and you got the best camera setup everrrr
Edit: Got the lens from my local Sony store at the end of January 2019 without waiting at all.. walked it and bought it immediately

The Sigma 16mm is 24mm equivalent on the a7III and that's what I use for my video right now. Would love a full frame lens for video though. This looks good!

Would love to see the results of running 24mm GM in crop mode on my A7iii vs the Sony 35mm f1.8. I don’t want to get the 35mm f1.8 if it’s not necessary. I mostly shoot video anyways.

Yep. since it’s constant light and it’s pretty freaking bright. I can get the correct shutter speed for film

Tried it for a couple of weeks but just couldn't get on with it. Much prefer the Sony 35 1.8 FE lens?

Jason, I really like this video. I've been toying with the idea of going to a 24mm instead of the Sigma 35mm Art Lens. While I like the lens, it is a beast of a big lens and also I wanted something a little different in terms of focal length. As for the trip to Japan, do enjoy. I was just there and loved every minute of my experience. Also, since you are going to be there for a while, you might want to make a trip to Seoul. It's an amazing city as well. Keep the videos coming and enjoy!!

Great video man👌 Thank you so much for the peak design strap especially, it's absolutely amazing. I am kind of in a creative rut aswell, just haven't found the right stuff to shoot lately. But I just got the DJI mavic mini a few days ago and been shooting with it a lot. Also I'm getting a gopro for christmas because I feel like I'd enjoy shooting a bit more when I don't have to worry about a camera and when I can make videos of my hobbies like freerunning, tricking, skiing etc.👍

Will this still look sharp on an a6400? I've seen conflicting reviews, some saying it works, others saying that the mega pixels are actually lower because it is cropped.

My only issue is the focus breathing. It’s the worse lens I have for this problem. Otherwise it’s great.

For hybrid shooters if you can have just one more lens to pair your 24mm GM for photog and gimbal video for travel what would it be? I know for your Batis Japan Videos you had to use all Batis, but if you could choose which lens would you pair with your GM 24m?
This lens is A$2200 in Australia, very hard to justify this price considering most people earn around $600-800 per week.
i doubt there is anyone working for that amount. Im Australian and even the pension is around $550 a week. any decent job will pay $1500 a week.
