  • John teaches Trigger Reset for fast and accurate shooting during one of his pistol classes. This is part of his curriculum taught during each class he offers to encourage better technique. The old method of pinning the trigger to the rear presents multiple problems and John explains how to properly reset your trigger when engaging a target.

    When I first started learning this technique, I was very hesitant because I wasn’t as deadly accurate as I normally am. However with time, that will go away and allow you to be just as accurate but now you command when the shot breaks vs waiting on the trigger to tell you when you’re ready to go again. Great teaching with the autonomic flinch technique

    • @toddk1377
      @toddk1377 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was doing this too, especially so I can shoot faster with less trigger movement. Have to start out slow to maintain accuracy and practice going faster while still accurate. Once the accuracy declines then you've superseded your ability and that's where you need to train to keep the speed and accuracy until you can shoot faster and faster while still being accurate. All about maintaining that balance, though up close speed is more important and accuracy becomes more important with precision and distance....if that makes sense.

    Yup. THIS is the correct way. I see too many people on TH-cam hold the trigger back for what seems like an eternity(I'm assuming it's to exaggerate follow thru), followed by them letting the trigger return slowwwwwwly back to reset, then as soon as they hear the reset click, they fire the gun, in a panic. I always thought that it was ridiculous. I'm glad that you cleared that up. Thanks, John.

    10:05 “The older I grow the more i realize how I was at fault” High stress training provides one of the most valuable skills. The ability to focus attention and filter out the information into layers that can be separated and analyzed in your own Conscience. Learning this skills has served me well in every situation. Truly blessed to have such an insightful teacher as warrior poet.

    This guy is absolutely awesome. He’s got the goods and the training and the know how to back up what he says. But what is most important to me is that this guy carries himself like a gentleman. There’s nothing smart ass about him. He doesn’t use vulgarities or act like some street punk. I don’t want to mention any names (carry trainer!) Lol. No this guy John is an absolute class act and he conducts himself as such. Probably the most useful information I have ever found online or anywhere for that matter in terms of handgun usage. So refreshing to see a true man of character teach others what is so essential. Thank you John and God bless you and your family.

      Just better hope that your wife or girlfriend don't decide to start using it. Don't want no accidental discharges, if you know what I mean.
      Sorry I had to, the topic just bought me down this rabbit hole. Dam again.
      I better stop!!!!!!

    So I decided to give this a shot today and wow what a difference it makes. I need more practice of course, but after just a couple of mags I was already shooting faster and just as, if not more, accurate than I do waiting for the trigger reset. I did have one or two where I unintentionally double tapped and shot a little high, but this is definitely the way I will be shooting from now on.
