I can't say enough about your approach in your videos. I've trained very hard for many years and the one thing that stands out to me is how real and humble you are. Out of all the videos that I've seen, yours by far are the most easily understood concepts, yet the most powerful. I don't know you sir but I can tell you that I respect everything I've seen you do and wanted to thank u for posting these videos!! No doubt ur a beast but u leave the attitude at the door and that's key,at least for me. So thanks again and please keep up the great work 👍
Absolutely right techniques...especially u people following the true martial art legend Bruce lee also makes the viewers a very positive energy..feels like Bruce's spirit is teaching us...thank you masters...
Hi, I have been incorporating isometric into my training for the last 4 months and certainly see a difference, many people in the gym look as no one else does this there. Some are now even asking me advise. With bar bic curls, with lightish weights. ten slow controlled sets then hold for 30 seconds, then repeat the ten curls again. Many people in the gym seem to lift as much as they can with terrible form and usually with terrible stomachs!!! I am really now leaning out and becoming ripped. REMEMBER DO NOT JUST TRAIN BODY PARTS THAT YOU CAN SEE!!!!
That's one reason I quit going to the gym. I never see someone pick up a jump rope, and rarely doing pullups. You dont need a gym to do that obviously.
A lot of ballistic stretching it’s dangerous but it has to be done in simply trying to kick higher you will be able to kick higher. You see him doing ballistic stretching in a few of his films. Most modern pts advise against it Cos it is a risk but if you know your body and know your limits through trial and error you’ll not get injured...hopefully
Thank you for the collaboration between others and showing us these great core tip training exercises... Octavio was awesome , definitely bring him back on!!
Excellent videos. Thanks so much. I learn from them every day and at 68 it is great to train with you guys online and in my own workout space out in my barn too! Love the heavy bag!!
if you work out at home, as I used to do. there's things you can make for isometric exercises. for example. get a 2x4, or a flat piece of steel. attach a chain to it(doesn't have to be a big ol logging chain...lol) attach the other end of the chain to a rod, shovel handle, or something strong enough. put your feet on the bottom piece, and pull, or push up on the top piece. hold it for 20-30 seconds, or longer if you're in good enough shape. you can do this for curls, or over your head, or turn your hand with knuckles facing the ground and pull up. that will work your shoulders, upper and lower back, etc. I believe this was one of the things Bruce lee used. at least in the beginning before he got equipment. but just like a jkd punch, or kick. the simple and direct is always the best. you don't necessarily need 1000s of dollars of equipment
One of the best pieces of equipment to do isometrics with is the Bullworker. I've used one for a few months with great results, what interested me in the device is when I learned Bruce Lee used one. You can still find some used ones on eBay.
An old Chinese Martial Arts saying: "Practice only forms and neglect Basic (Foundation) Training then at the end of a lifetime of practice you'll end up with nothing" So true here good Basic Training !
My late Sifu David Schenk would have us do push up and hold until we could barely push ourselves back up. Then he'd have us sit on "an imaginary horse" until we could barely push ourselves back up. I think the Dragon Stance hold is the hardest one but he'd have us do our weaker side first and we would time it, then do same amount of ti.e on our stronger side. We did this until both of our sides were equally strong causing an ambidextrous effect. Great video because isometric are the key to making muscles in powerful springs.
I love the wrist rolls Lee does with a small barbell with arms extended; as opposed to a forearm curl. You can really see the flexors and extensions each forming and having depth rather than overall forearm bulkiness
Never thought I'd see a vid from lok do iso vid but damn that's dope def learned more to incorporate in workout. Hanging bicep holds at 90 degress are good as well.
p.s., another thing that all martial artists, or kick boxers should do is. get some ankle and wrist weights. when I was younger and still training b4 I got hurt in a car wreck. I wore my 5 pound ankle weights all the time. I only took them off when I went to bed. and I wore 2.5 pound wrist weights whenever I could. it not only helps to tone the muscle, but when you get used to that extra weight, then take them off. you'll be surprised how light your hands/feet feel. and you'll be a bit faster because of it. this was an old boxer training trick. i'd also recommend doing a light shadow boxing with small dumbbells. I used 12.2 lbs, mainly because that's what I had. BUT, don't be aggressive when you do this. because with that much weight, especially if you're not conditioned you can pull muscles, or injure your back seriously
Those holding your push up workouts is something I've been doing for a long time holding it for 3 mins...but these workouts Bruce Lee did are pretty amazing
Great video. I think to add to the push up isometric practice you could add the shoulder roll cat like movement he recommends it in his book and in his movie in his warm up before he "fought and killed," Chuck Norris. This movement makes the one inch or close ranch hits very powerful.
WHAT!!!! i litrally just completed 6 steps to 6 figures and now im learning about fitness from you, i was wondering were i know you from : D ... small digital world eh.
I remember somebody was saying that if you train with normal exercizes like push ups or isometric the result is kinda the same, so i could consider to apply this type of training to my body instead of normal ones, also focusing on muscle i wasnt before like this. Like always nice video Dan and your other partner, keep like this!
Although he used those exercises you failed to bring up full tension meaning while you hold the position your body should be completely tensed at all times to fire unused explosive muscle fibers. Which is actually the most important part of the exercise just saying..
Hi dan I have Bruce’s workout book the art of expressing the human body and one of his isometric exercises is called PULL .can you tell me or show me exactly how to do this
Thanks for the video 🤗. Love your videos! Would love to see a video on workouts for endurance and stamina build up for a fight(even though a street fight should last for just a couple of seconds). Thanks
I like to do my isometrics like a Tan Sao meditation. Instead of holding a position, do the action extremely slow. You'd be surprised how much strain you put on the control and stability muscles when you spend one minute doing a single pushup
There r pic of Bruce Lee doing push-ups with his arms extended way further from his body ... what exactly did that work for fighting ? And what r the me chances of that push up. ? That can be another video. Pls Me Dan .make one . Thx ..
Kinda fun seeing this again hahahaha this is the many reasons why i have a lot of speed and power even if i dont use my hips to hit the pads with my friends, its like conditioning your muscle to stay and move when you want it to and when it needs to my favourite was holding the dumbbell or barbell i suppose in a curl for 50 seconds which i like, also for the grip methods i like to use any exercise that was turned into isometrics that i simply tense my body which lead me to time under tension, Btw love this Series Dan hope theres more to come you have my respect
Great video and I'm also a bruce fan and Wing Chun/JKD. I have lots of books of him and 1 of them is Bruce Lee Fighting Method basic training ( blue one ) My question is for the excersice Pulling Power and forearm development for lap sao technique in WC/JKD. The excersice is on page 85. Lap Sao is a technique what Bruce really liked. Can you please show how to perfom correctly? You train it with one dumbell with only weights on one 1 side. The other side of the dumbell you hold it with your hand. On the pic, bruce is kneeling down to perform that excercise to lower the dumbell and raise it again. Much appreciated if you can show this excersice in your video. Keep up your great work and vids ;)
I really like your videos and you guys are doing a great job bringing them to us, but I was just thinking the other day, that it would be neet to have a follow a long workout video that you could do over and over again.
Love your videos. It would be great of you could have a few more camera angles to help viewers check their form. Also I was a little confused on the iso push ups using fist...you said 3 knuckles but did specify which 3 we should focus on. I've heard people say different things. Thanks
JKD workouts and isometric techniques are very unique and wondered if Bruce LEE was alive today, we could have seen more techniques. Are there any workouts to strengthen the rib area?

That's one reason I quit going to the gym. I never see someone pick up a jump rope, and rarely doing pullups. You dont need a gym to do that obviously.
I would like to see more of Bruce's stretching techniques...especially for legs.
talking about stretching I truly believe that Bruce Lee would incorporate into his stretching by doing Yoga
Yoga is good for flexibility and lateral / oblique strength and can compliment calisthenics.
@stretch 4895 :You are dead wrong !
The other advantage to these is to limit wear and tear on joints or for people suffering joint pain or lack of mobility
Bruce Lee's 30 minute work out sessions? That would be greatly appreciated.
@Keller Smith First I will buy Tao of Jeet Kune Do, then the other book. Thanks for suggesting, other people suggest it too.
@Multorum Unum If you have spare 6-8 hours a day for training it's not impossible :D
@@krejziks3398 everyone does
Thank you for the collaboration between others and showing us these great core tip training exercises... Octavio was awesome , definitely bring him back on!!
Bruce Lee - on of the best natural bodybuilder
Okay. But what they are showing is not isometrics. I train isometrics and other strongman systems since 1975.
@@igalflint so plz tell. Bro
Do u guys where they got the rope thing from the beggining
So what do u advocate ?
sorry to tell you he wasn't natural. He cycled gear. it's just not widely talked about.

Yes. Precision Movement has that very exercise! Right here on You tube and I use it also as recovery from slight tear in rotator cuff.
I am using an old bullworker now for isometric training for my martial arts . It's very effective.

Yeah Bruce I believe was doing overcoming isometrics.
The guy in the video does yielding isometrics.
Liked the video.
