    1.8 is smooth but very loud under heavy exhilaration. I can't speak for the 1.4 turbo, but being a second generation, it's got to be better.
    As far as performance goes, no doubt the 1.4T would be faster especially at the top end, and more power gains capable for tuning 💪

  • @R3AL-AIM
    @R3AL-AIM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    You'd figure they'd be faster than that... My 09 1.8L Vibe with a 4 speed would have a car on the early 1.8 or 1.4T. oof

      Your 09 Vibe is a Toyota engine and will outlast the GM 1.8 and 1.4t without question.

    • @handsome4922
      @handsome4922 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That Vibe has an engine that actually makes good power, especially at the top end. Ecotecs aren't exactly rev happy unless they've been tuned. Even then they aren't all that.

      An 09 Vibe 1.8L might have a car or two on the Gen 1 1.8L Cruze and maybe even the 1.4T, but definitely not the Gen 2 1.4T..

    Let’s be honest here These cars are not muscle cars or sport cars etc/ they are a day to day driving vehicle meant to get u to places from A to Z. But with that being said they are not a bad daily car. However pushing them and miss using them as a type of car that they aren’t will drop the lifespan etc of this vehicle. U can easily get 200,000 miles on these cars and possibly even more if driven, treated, and taken care of the right way. If a ford focus can make it to 200,000 miles that I drive for a work car 😂, I’m pretty sure these can too.

      In Australia the 1.4T Cruze’s are pretty gutless, but we also have a 1.6T Cruze that is far better, more punchy and actually fun to drive. You compare the 1.8L/1.4T against the 1.6T and the difference is astonishing. The 1.6T do have sport mode.
      We didn’t get a successor Cruze, only the Holden Astras. The sedans are basically rebadged Chevy Cruze and are only available in the 1.4T. The hatches come in either a 1.4T or a 1.6T. The 1.6T Astra can almost match a Golf GTI. 0-100km stock it can get below 6.5 seconds.

      The 1.4T is a turbo engine and power drops off dramatically after about 5k rpm’s. The transmission shifts sooner to allow the engine rpm’s to drop where all of the power is.

      That is correct. The Gen 2 1.4T which is in this video is a little better. The 1.8L which was only in the Gen 1 is the "most reliable" out of the 3.

    • @jayson657
      @jayson657 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Even though it’s relatively quick for what it is you shouldn’t push the 1.4 turbo hard. Cylinder heads are know to crack, the turbo chargers are known to brake. Absolutely make sure you are changing the oil religiously with full synthetic.

      It looks like it's an automatic transmission. I wonder why the 1.4 shifted way before redline. I have a 6 speed manual and it doesn't make power until right before it was shifting in the automatic version. It has a rev limiter that won't let you take it above the redline.
