      Thanks Bob. It can be a little tricky deciding where to live in a foreign nation. My first impressions of Bacolod City and Iloilo City were positive. Many guys end up living where their wives or girlfriends live which is fine also.

      @@AmazingPhilippines1 Yeah, I started in Cebu May of last year, met a girl there, now gf. Then we went on to Chiang Mai, then Danang and Can Tho, Vietnam, Pattaya, then back to Cebu. I'm back in Chiang Mai, she's back in Cebu and will meet me in Danang in Feb. If you're open to other countries, I highly recommend Chiang Mai. Just stay away from Feb thru May for burning season. We both love CM. I remember you went to HCMC before, too. I forgot that one, I were there this past summer, as well.

    Was just there for the holidays from 12/11-1/17... was supposed to fly out on the 12th to connect to my international flight in Manila but the Taal volcano had all flights to and and out of Manila cancelled for a couple of days...
    Would like to add that the Bureau of Immigration was been moved across the street to Festive Walk Mall.. on the 3rd floor, if my memory serves me right.. if you go to get a visa extension (3000 pesos or $60 USD-for a 30 day extension) there please make sure they stamp the date extension on your visa and keep the receipt with you... I found out the hard way when I tried to fly out of Manila that it wasn’t stamped.. had to pay an additional 4000 pesos ($80) to board my flight.. it was my second trip to that beautiful city and everyone is very friendly and very helpful.., i rented an furnished apartment on General Luna at RC Fifth Ave for $8000 pesos ($160) or $5.33 USD a day.. they provided two twin beds, small fridge, small kitchen table and analog tv that had no reception though I took some of my dvds so I just purchased a DVD player at the mall and my room, which is considered a one bed room but is actually a large efficiency, had a beautiful view of the Iloilo river along with a nice breeze throughout the day and night...my electric bill for the month was 2500 pesos ($50 USD) also had to buy a grill to cook my breakfasts I usually had lunches or dinners at the malls..,it really is a clean place with lots of friendly people who will invite you to eat as u walking by and they are having their lunch or dinner
    I would like to add that I have only experienced only one brown out while there as well.. it was for about 8 hours...but it was near one of the universities, CPU... over by Jaro.. never at RC Fifth.. I stayed there for two months in April/May of 2018 and again last month for the holidays with no brown outs thx GOD BLESS

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience Ramiro. Sounds like you had a pretty good deal. Electric seems to be getting better in many areas. My electric also averages 2500-3000.

    • @ramiroperez7180
      @ramiroperez7180 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazing Philippines thx I was wondering what your electric bill was as well.. there are two RC FIFTH apartment buildings located on General Luna... I stayed at the one located along the Iloilo river and the walkway or Espalade is about ready to open like u mentioned though no access from the apartment building but their is one a quarter block away @ JD’s Bakery/Burger Joint...
      u can call and ask for Charisma DeLaCruz to help show u the apartments available.. I forgot to mention that the rooms come with an A/C wall unit.. though they are old.. but I asked management to clean it out which they did and it work fine it would get cold..I wish they would add newer energy efficient units. I’m sure it would reduce one’s electric bill by maybe 25%.
      You did some awesome videos on your short stay that showed Iloilo in a good light...I walked the streets as well and never ever felt threatened or endangered by anyone. God bless u have a new subscriber... your buddy up in Roxas pays how much for his apartment? I’ve been up that way as well near Capiz and Mambusoa..

    Iloilo was one of the two last towns occupied by the Spanish when the Filipinos were taking back their country. It shows up often in history by the accounts of many that go back to the first known written records.

      Thanks Philip. You would have to fly to Manila, Cebu City, Hong Kong, or Singapore to get another flight to iloilo. There aren't too many international flights there at this time. Here is a link to the route I took from Cebu City. Bus to Toledo, ferry to San Carlos, bus to Bacolod, and ferry to Iloilo City. Video link

    Where in the Midwest are you from? Minnesota I'm guessing based upon your dialect .I typed this prior to you reaching the point in the video when you tell where your from.. I currently live in Arizona ( Gilbert) to be exact. I moved here from Philadelphia to escape the North East cost of living. Arizona has become "Californiaized". The metro Phoenix is not the cost-of-living bargain it was a decade ago. Contemplating a relocation of 1 year to the Philippines After that, who knows America is not what it used to be..

      Thanks Daniel. Minnesota was too cold too long for me so I lived in Phoenix many years also. I thought the humidity would really bother me in the Philippines but I have adapted well. Good luck with your plans.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Robert. There are more than 4 hospitals and someone mentioned 9. There is a bit of a doctor shortage in the Philippines and I will be doing a separate video about some of those issues hopefully within the month. The Medical City from Manila has taken over one hospital so I am guessing that is a good thing.

      @@AmazingPhilippines1 If you have TRICARE, this place is definitely for you. Hospitals are exceptional St. Paul's, Medical City, to name a couple. Excellent Schools/Universities. Most doctors are U.S. trained or former local doctors that has returned as expats from the U.S. This is a very family oriented place and not a good place for bar-hopping since night life is very slow, a complete opposite of Angeles and Cebu.

    I Rod, I saw a TH-cam video on the clean up of that river. If I remember correctly it took place about 8 years ago. The city officials decided that they wanted to improve the City's image. Take care of yourself and try to have fun.
