    Nailed it! That was a great way of explaining SSP to a layperson parent of a suffering teenager. Most often we are caught with a myriad of treatment strategies, not knowing what it does, how it works to improve or diminish our recovery path. We need more of these explanations to help our understanding of right strategies and not be misled with an onslaught of wrong treatments.

    I’m currently on the SSP Core: Original under a therapist and I actually enjoy listening to the music. I find myself being overjoyed at times. I’m about to listen to another 30 minutes. It sounds like modified pop music but makes it sound more old timey radio like. I’m currently at the 4 hour mark. I started Sunday or Monday this week. I haven’t had any side effects that I’m aware of.

    Thanks very much for your videos❣I find your delivery/style of educating very 'user friendly.' Do you know if this has been tried for ME/ Myalgicencephalomylitis (which has helped inform researchers on LongCovid b/c, tho it has been less publicized/also stigmatized, is also likely a post-viral torment to so many for 30+ years; many peeps living w/it predicted/recognized early sx of LongCovid as having similar progress, etc)? Do you know if SSP has helped resolve the food allergies &/or Environmental/Chemical Intolerance part of the Long Haul (& MCS) syndromes? Thank s again!

      I had not heard for Therapeutic Listening until today so I am not sure. Is there research about Therapeutic Listening improving nervous system function and HRV? Most of the research into the SSP has been done on Children with Autism. You can read more about it here: integratedlistening.com/products/ssp-safe-sound-protocol/

    • @sallyriggs465

      Randomized control trials take 5 years start to finish. LC hasn’t even been around 4 years yet. However I am working on a pilot study with the company who owns the software looking at efficacy. It can’t be randomized though because we don’t have the finances to fund that - we’re just using people who would be getting SSP anyway and who consent to data sharing. But there are trials of the SSP in other conditions. Initially they tested it with autism, but I think there are a few others now. Take a look on pubmed!

      yes absolutely that's exactly the point! that's why I stress finding a practitioner who will titrate it to YOUR nervous system so that you don't have a horrible crash. and there's really no need to if it is done right...

    Also, is this safe for children who exhibit extreme "fight or flight" syndrome?

    • @sallyriggs465
      @sallyriggs465  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It has been used extensively with children, this is where most of the research has been, I believe including infants. "Safe" depends 100% on the delivery. If the practitioner treating such a child let them listen alone for an hour I would imagine it would not be fun for the child, but if it is titrated to their nervous system, with co-regulation then yes that would be safe.

    • @dana-elainemiddleton9257
      @dana-elainemiddleton9257 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is more than just being there when a child is listening. It is also about being able to gauge their nervous system state, going slow, and maybe only using calming music, if you go too fast it could cause challenges. There is an art to this modality.

    So its music that mimics the frequency of human voices. Why couldn't someone just listen to a podcast or something with human voices?

    • @sallyriggs465
      @sallyriggs465  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It’s frequency manipulated music. The manipulation and the algorithm is what makes the difference to the nervous system (and that’s why it’s copyrighted)

      I'm currently working through SSP with a therapist. It is definitely a case of going slowly for me. 2 mins core a day is OK, but 3 is way too much and makes me dysregulated, anxious, talking fast etc. I got impatient with it but although it seems begnin, it isn't! Atm it isn't showing me the benefits but I'm on core one so a way to go.

      @@sallyriggs465 i'd like to follow up on the question. On the info page of SSP it is explained that the way the music's frequencies are modulated is to mimic the human voice. So, no very low bass no very high treble. This is how the effect on the nervous system is explained.
      This is why I wonder the same as jglenbateman: Why would that be different from just listening to human voices, like on a podcast etc?

    • @sallyriggs465
      @sallyriggs465  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@klara0kor So please do follow up on this with Stephen Porges, or Unyte ILS who are the company who own the software. I am not the definitive authority. But the SSP includes both instrumental and vocal music, so its not about the actual voice. Its about the frequency, but also the modulation. The modulation varies throughout the 5 hours in a way that goes in and out, in and out. And this is what is therapeutic. When you are listening to podcast (unless you have some weird modulator that you keep turning on and off) the voice is a fixed frequency.
      Or to put it even more simply: if we could heal ourselves just from listening a podcast you wouldn't be watching my videos and writing me these questions...

    if a child becomes overstimulated while using this protocol, what are the symptoms and what is the recovery time to become stable again?

    • @sallyriggs465
      @sallyriggs465  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The SSP should be carefully titrated by a practitioner so that someone doesn’t become overstimulated. The symptoms could be anything and everything so impossible to predict (if a practitioner knows a client well they could predict together but I couldn’t say hypothetically for an unknown someone) and the recovery time would be a “how long is a piece of string?” Scenario…

      @@Rosina2727 I’m not sure has quoted you this price Rosina but there is no set price as I mention above. The SSP is available solely through practitioners who have taken the training and passed (ie become certified) and then also purchased a subscription from the company that owns the software. they may or may not also have a professional license in their discipline. Pricing depends very much on the fees the individual practitioner - psychologists and psychiatrists typically have higher fees because they also have more training for their professional degree and more experience before they are allowed to see patients alone. Fees also vary massively by country and by area within country depending on the local cost of living.
