I'm not from the USA, but I remember when I got into University. There was only one option for me as I had no money and was free University. In Mexico, free Universities are actually good but are really hard to get in. I was trying to law school (you have to apply by career) and the acceptance rate is low (medicine is way lower tho). I had to apply twice as I had been rejected once. Here you have to make an exam and the best scores+exam results get in. As my scores were really low (I actually had to repeat a semester in High school. Note: In Mexico HS is in six semesters) I was expecting rejection again and I was trying to figure out how to get into a private university (they're expensive and they're full of rejections). But they made a mistake and put an ID student number on my online profile, so as only people who studied high school or are in university there had ID there was no reason for me to have it. I told my mom and we didn't tell anyone until the actual acceptance came. It was midnight, I remember, because they publish the results at midnight, and I jumped and screamed, she woke up and asked me what I was doing and started screaming too. She was so proud of me.
I hope she's still proud now she's on heaven and I'm doing (gladly) exactly what she wanted me to do. She was smart to know what I wanted.

Luis Gonzalez It was UDG (Universidad de Guadalajara). Yeah, free universities have low acceptance and that makes it difficult. Don’t give up!

Lovely Video! LOL at the girl who wrote she never hugged her mom like that before. My poor kids, I hug them like this when they win any competition they are excited about. Seriously...... my kid won a board game in kindergarten and floated off the bus, and when he told me and was so excited about it, I reacted like this. I even react this way when not so life changing things happen, like when our NFL team wins an important game. Gracious knows how I'll react to college admissions. I'll probably cheer like a maniac and then burst into tears when the reality hits that the admission means they will fly the nest.
That was not her mom, it was her sister and they are actually half Japanese so I guess it's understandable I don't think they are really touchy
