The term "Blood Moon" is a complete misnomer. During a lunar eclipse the Moon is dimly lit by refraction of sunlight through the Earth's atmosphere. Therefore the colour of the Moon is completely dependent on the atmospheric conditions at the time of the eclipse. The red colour (if any) cannot be predicted beforehand.
