Thank you for the review of this product. IMO this system doesn't bring anything new to the game, especially for it's price. The sound is alright (although it would be more accurately shown if you weren't in a room with a lot of reverb), however the signal seems to be not really stable; It had cuts and interference even when you were sitting in the house near the receiver during the review. No Lavs included, no internal recording. There are similar systems that are cheaper and/or have more accessories included... A note for your review. You should have included a sound sample of the built in mic as well, because its part of the product too. Again, appreciate the effort of reviewing a new product.
Thanks for your feedback. I have spoken to SmallRig and they confirmed I have a preproduction model. So all the cuts and stability in general is fixed now. I’ll be sent a new one soon, will do a quick follow up vide, maybe in a room with less reverb ;)
@@TheCrooksandCastle It would depend on your budget. From the ones I found (and I looked at quite a lot) I would say check some of the following: If budget is not an issue, go for either DJI mic or Rode Wireless GO 2. They both have good sound quality, record in 48kHz 24 bit WAV, and other features. Both have internal storage. Each has some pros and cons compared to the other. Both are coming with no LAVs, so you buy them separately. DJI comes with a Charging case, Rode has 3rd party made ones that sold separately. Then you got a couple lesser options (IMO), Comica Audio BoomX-D PRO D2 Sounds fine. its 48kHz 16 bit. Comes with LAVs and a carry case. Internal storage. somewhat Cheaper than the Rode and DJI LENSGO 348C very similar to the Rode Wireless GO 2, but worse sound quality. its 48kHz probably 16 bit (not really specified) uses SD cars up to 32gb for storage on transmitter. Internal recording is 41.1kHz. comes with no LAVs. somewhat Cheaper than the Rode and comes with a case. Lensgo LWM-328C UHF (also got a 338C version which is supposedly an upgraded version) it's UHF (supposed to be a better wireless connection than 2.4gHz) its 48kHz 16 bit. Uses AA batteries. uses 32gb SD cards for storage. Internal recording is 41.1kHz. Comes with Lavs I'd say, if Rode or DJI aren't an option, the Comica is your best pick.
Looking for a set of these, the range on the smallrig seems horrible in your video. Drops are unforgivable at the range you seemed to be at. Guess, I'll stick with either RODE or DJI.
Your audio definitely does not sound good, i realized that immediately and hoped it wasnt the smallrig units, ....sounds hallow, you can hear the reverberation I recommend comica xboom
Yeah. As stated in the video description the model I was sent was a preproduction model. The range and general connection issue is fixed in the final version, which I’ll receive soon for a follow up video ;)
hello, Thank you for the review - If you had to choose between the hollyland lark 150 or the SmallRig Forevala W60 - which one would you take? I need to decide and since you owned and reviewed both ...I would love to know - thx!!
I’d choose the Hollyland as the case charges the set without the need of usb power. I’ve been using it for over a year and it’s really good! If I need a wireless mic, I use Hollyland ;)
Hi Paul, thank you for your reply, the only valid argument that I see against the Hollyland is that the battery life is only 4hrs - I guess that this is not a problem when doing shorter shoots....apart from the charging case instead of UBS, do you have any other arguments why you prefer the Hollyland? that would be a great video since many people are raving about the SmallRig...but at the same time I think that SRig might have invested more in product promotion via creator to boost this product - an honest review would be great! thx ++
I have watched three review of this mic and they all sound like in a large open space, I don't really like how it sound, is like the mic is picking even further away
The audio is actually quite good, if not great. Bear in mind my mics were pre production and I was a bit unfair testing them in a high reverb setting (my living room). If you skip to my failed audio test at about 05:30, you’ll hear how good they sound. Of course, I’m expecting SmallRig to send me the final version. Looking forward to testing them ;) Hope this helps!

can you recommend a system with internal recording and lavs?

I guess it’s 16 bit audio. It 24 bit…. Pl suggest a cost effective 24bit model
I was interested in this until you did the range test. Have you heard back yet from smallrig?
Yeah. As stated in the video description the model I was sent was a preproduction model. The range and general connection issue is fixed in the final version, which I’ll receive soon for a follow up video ;)
@PaulHeimlund Which one is your favorite: Rode go2 vs DJI vs Smallrig??
Have not tested Røde or Dji. I have tested one called Hollyland Lark 150, which is amazing. You can find the review on my channel ;)
@@PaulHeimlund just ordered the smallrig :)) super excited!
@@monoformat_hamburg cool! I’m sure you’re gonna love it ;)
Woww that's is nice video!! I'd love to get it. But I also want to know about Synco G2A2. How about it?
May I ask did you experience any Rf interference when using the forevala W60?
Good question! No I didn’t ;)

Can I plug directly in a notebook or smartphone?

Hi, many thanks for your video, what's the best between this one and Rode Wireless go2 ?
Wonder why such mic not supporting type-c out . There should be more such options
When I record with two people, it will deliver me “two audios” (in each channel - so may I choose the correct in post production)?
Can the case do standalone charging, similar to the dji mic case?
No. I also thought the case was charging the mics, but it’s not…
What's your name if it isnt the first time we are meeting? 🤔
😝😝😝 You can call me bro😎
Bom que esse "preview" já deu bem a real da confiabilidade desse kit. 05:35 min, já se vê claramente que não dá para confiar.

It's a kids toy, no more than that, so should be priced no more than that...$19.99
