I work for a lady that used to make bologna roll ups which was a flour tortilla with the cream cheese and just bologna and then she would roll it up and then cut it up and the kids love them
When making pot pies I use gravy instead of cream of whatever soup. The gravy freezes well and doesn't separate. Gravy also compliments the chicken, beef , hamburger or whatever protein is used much better than cream of soups.
When you say gravy, are you referring to the little packets of gravy mix or the jarred version? I’m allergic to dairy so this would be a great alternative for me. Thank you
Not sure if you know about the Souper cubes or not. They are silicone molds that you can freeze soup or anything in then remove and put individual squares of soup (2 cups) worth into your freezer bag. Wash and repeat! I love them. Plus they also sell a ramekin that fits the frozen cube perfectly for the oven!
I love Souper cubes! Michelle one of the owners is such a lovely woman. We’ve been connected when they first started the company. They are a beautiful family,
I think one reason folks like to watch the cooking marathons is we like to see folks being industrious and going from raw items to finished goods. thanks for making the effort to share your partnership and ideas here!
Cream of potato soup works great as well if you don't like or can't have cream of celery or cream of mushroom. One of my kids hate mushrooms and also hates the taste of cream of celery, so I would substitute using the cream of potato.
Sharla, you're safe. Typical ice cream that you buy in the grocery store does not have eggs. Custard-based ice cream does have eggs, but the eggs are cooked in the custard before it's run through the ice cream machine.
I have always used cream of mushroom and the pre made pie dough for my pot pies . Been doing it this way for over 20 yrs.😀 I have not frozen them, never occurred to me, but will now! 😊
pot pie - thought - possibly use ramekins, put filling straight into a greased ramekin, put biscuit on top. I know doesn't go in bags that well, but I've done something similar and comes out really good. I put a smidge of butter on them when they come out of the oven, and yum!
Ran to Costco after your last freezer meal video and picked up the turkey on sale and the meatballs you girls rave about. Not generally a frozen meatball person. We’re having the meatballs subs tonight.Oh thanks fr reminding me I bought two rotisserie chicken and my husband needs to debone it tonight. Lol
The ham and turkey roll ups are great with a pickle rolled inside. Sliced into 1” sections they make a great appetizer. I don’t know how the pickle would freeze. The diced chicken could have spinach or diced apples added to them.
Hi both from the UK 🇬🇧. I have been watching your videos for a little while now and tried a couple of the recipes. Now i have purchased a chest freezer as you have inspired me to make freezers meals for my family of 5. Thank you for sharing. X
I use the boxed mashed potatoes to thicken my freezer pot pies or if I don’t have any potato I make the base freezer it in a container then pull it out and thicken it the day of cooking. Cook your filling I use 4 celery stalks, 4-5 big carrots, 1 onion, 3-4 potatoes, 1-2 garlic cloves and 1 cup peas then any cooked meat (I have used 1 pound ground beef, left over pulled pork, chicken or turkey) I add salt, pepper, tyme, garlic & onion powder to your taste. If meet needs cooking I cook it first then add veggies in a pot until soft add broth & cook (I use 2 bullion & hot water as stated on package it’s cheaper) cook until everything soft. Then add potato flakes from instant mashed until desired thickness. This usually makes me 3-4 pies.
A little tip: Kale freezes wonderfully so if you buy a large bag of pre washed/chopped kale, throw a handful in every meal. It doesn't have the flavor of spinach so melds well. Is very heart healthy and adds fiber and greens to your plate. You can just put the whole bag from the store in the freezer or add it on top of whatever you are planning to freeze. Mixed into soups it will loose its vitality so I generally recommend to add it last or include it once the soup is ready to freeze.
LOL! As you are talking about putting the meal into a "margarine container like Grandma", I am washing out the coffee container to use for trash mail/paper to burn. LOL! Ok, I may be like my grandmother. :)
Another reason to have a toaster oven: If you can't bend to get into below counter height surfaces it works great. Dear Ol Ma has osteoporosis and between that and recovery boughts from broken bones we had to rearrange her kitchen for waist height use (a real undertaking). But she could still be independent with a freezer full of meals and a toaster oven to pop them in.
Great video! My hubby works at a Costco near you both, I rarely go in because he buys whatever I have on the list I give him. Love all your suggestions and recipes and I think my list just got longer lol.
We have a Ninja Foodie air fryer/toaster oven and love it. We use ours instead of our oven for many things. Great for small meals and desserts for two, especially during the summer as it doesn’t heat up the kitchen.
Great video. I’m eating the last Maple Leaf cookie in the box and the cookie is made in Canada and has maple syrup in the ingredients. Delicious. I don’t think we have any cookies in the States that has maple syrup in the ingredients. The rollups were great. Every Thanksgiving one of our Apps was turkey, ham and something else rollups or pinwheels. They were frozen and sold near the Holidays. Haven’t seen them in years and everyone loved them. They were the only non-homemade food on the table. I can now bring your rollups along with my stuffing for Thanksgiving. Thank you guys.
If you look waaay back in our early videos, Sharla made a lot of "what's for dinner" videos where you see the outcomes. If we end up with some video of how the chicken pot pies turned out, I'm sure we'll post it. 😊
There's also a little hidden clip at the very end of this video that shows the two different types of chicken pot pies after they were cooked and gives Sharla's opinion (spoiler alert: she liked the pie crust one way more than the biscuit dough one!)
There are two types of ice cream, the custard style with eggs and then ice ream with only heavy cream, half and half, sweetened condensed milk, and whatever flavorings, nuts or fruit, no eggs.
The costco one. KFI. Great flavour! No cashews in it, either, so it's nut safe. www.costco.ca/kfi-butter-chicken-cooking-sauce%2C-2-%C3%97-650-ml.product.100538529.html
My daughter is also allergic to celery, so I wonder if the box vegtable broth, bothers you , because I have yet to find any store bought broth that doesn't have celery?
In theory but they would get soggy. You could wrap them in paper towel in the microwave to cut back on that, but you still wouldn't have the full crisp. You could pre-cook and then warm them in an AirFryer or toaster oven just until warm.
I would love it if you would tell me how to freeze the pumpkin pie slices successfully. I did it and had to throw it away because it was terrible. Thanks in advance!
After we had a couple of slices, we could make room on the pie plate and separate the slices. Then I put the lid back on and then into the freezer. They seemed to thaw ok to me. I didn't even wrap them. They didn't last super long because of frost, but it was a way to preserve it for a little while longer without tossing it or eating too much pie at once. I don't know if I have any advice to give you. Sorry it didn't work for you.
@@FreezerMeals101 it’s okay! I think the pie being separated might have helped. Mine was the entire pie together with no room to breathe. Maybe that made a difference. Thank you for responding.
Paneer is a whey product that has the texture of tofu. It's generally used in Indian cuisine. It's sold in block form near the cheese in the grocery store. It can be ground or cubed and fried. It's a source of protein and is considered vegetarian. Poutine, if you're not familiar, is a dish originating in Montreal. It's French fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. Now there are many ways to try poutine as it is quite mainstream in Canada. I haven't ever seen paneer on poutine but there is a pizza place near me that offers it on their pizza! They have a lot of pizzas that feature Indian cuisine, so that is probably why. I've tried it and it's pretty good.

Love this! My husband and I are now empty nesters and I love to shop at Costco. This really helps with planning meals for two!
Awesome! I'm so glad it will work for you!

Jarred gravy is the best if you add a few extra spices to make it not taste jarred
That's a great tip because there are lots of people who can't have the cream of soups due to the sodium.
When you say gravy, are you referring to the little packets of gravy mix or the jarred version? I’m allergic to dairy so this would be a great alternative for me. Thank you

I’m Canadian too but I’m struggling to find the curry paste in the tube, can I ask where you find it
It's the fresh ginger that's in the squeezy tube. Curry paste comes in a jar in the international section at the grocery store. I hope that helps!

the ice cream having eggs is all dependent on brand most grocery store ice cream no longer has eggs though

No but many of them do although if you don’t like them or are allergic, you can skip them of course.
