The dude went back and forth from being a leftist to working for the CIA in the Cold War like a bunch of times. And then was denounced by the New York Post for speaking favorably of the US Army in Vietnam?? The New York Post, which is now a right-wing tabloid owned by Rupert Murdoch? What a weird dude lol. I don't understand history lol

Great video(s). The island (for those who don't know from the video) is Isla Angel de la Guarda. I could not find the email newsletter link on your web page btw so maybe it could be more obvious! I found a great Atkins 38 Ingrid at Guymas marina a few years back but was too ill (with Lyme, a nasty landlubber condition!) to figure out how to make a new mast there so passed. Pity. A shipyard-built ferro who had already done two circumnavigations. But if I had taken the plunge, I would no doubt have explored that lovely place in your video. Kudos for following your dreams!

Jacques Cousteau would have loved this one. The underwater shots are amazing. I can't get over how curious and playful those sea lions were. Almost made me wonder if they're used to being fed by tourists, but I'm sure that doesn't happen.
You're right - there is no feeding of the sea lions by tourists in the Sea of Cortez. Most of them are way off the tourist trail, like the places Delos has visited. They're just naturally curious, like dogs or wolves. And while they would move away from you on land, underwater they seem to view you as a strange version of themselves. I had the same diving experience about 25 years ago out of La Paz and it still resonates with me now, magical...
Sierra looks like she'll be able to ditch the arm floats soon. I love the homemade davit on Basik. It looks like it was welded up from pieces of and old boom and mast. Pretty resourceful.
Another beautiful fun video. I've always enjoyed your commentaries, but realized today how wonderfully skillfully they are written. Brian's commentary (11:30 or so) about the underwater world was excellent prose. Looking forward to the newsletter.
It so cool how two boats one starting it journey and one all the way around the world on a new journey meet from one home port (Seattle) in the middle of the ocean… Been watching both channels for quite some time now.
From what I remember, this was one of the most amazing anchorages and islands I’ve been to in the Sea of Cortez. However, the no seeums were Out. Of. Control at night. We caught so many mackerel and mahi-mahi around this island! The sailing north to Pensacola, then San Felipe was epic, as was being encircled by literally about 1000 feeding dolphins. Loved this leg of our journey and it looked like you did too!
beautiful video of the seals and it's pretty neat watching Lil Nugget grow as her vocabulary increases. Sure make me wish for a time when my three daughters were that age.
Refugio holds a special memory. Just out of high school in 1983 my father and my brothers and I were on the Tony Reyes 10 day fishing tour out of San Felipe. It was an El Niño year and the sea life in the gulf was incredible. After getting tired of catching so much tuna, yellowtail, and Cabrilla we took our ponga on a side trip to Refugio. It just felt so untouched. We filled milk crates with scallops and sea snails. Back at the mother ship we caught trigger fish off of lucky Joe lures two and three at a time. The chef made incredible ceviche of it all. Incredible video brought back good memories. Thanks.

Those red rocks remind me so much of our beautiful Lake here in Utah, Lake Powell. It's unfortunately drying up and it's so scary. The dam supply's over 5 million people with power. The gorgeous places in this world are amazing. I'm so grateful you take us a long to enjoy your adventurous life. The photo talent on this video and all of your videos is spectacular. This was just a great episode! It was really funny! First Sierra with her 2 shades minimum. Then remembering that Brian cant handle bad smells then you retching & running away with your beloved wife & friend laughing at you. Too much ! Finally Sierra doing her very best Dad getting sick imitation - " Blech eww eww ! " Perfect. One look at those teeth brings home the Sea Lion name. What a place, heard of it of course but didnt know such things existed & the water was so clear. So cool that you were able to entertain the sea lions for so long, theyre adorable . I agree, I think they're intelligent and they can also feel, talk & perceive things similar to us. The arial shots are gorgeous. Thanks So much !
So wonderful. We loved it there. ( admittedly tried to avoid the worst of the summer). We did a LOT of scuba. Like you we were self contained for Scuba. Sierra is stealing the show!!
