This is my Federal Signal Valor red and blue lightbar with optional hot-foot take-down and alleys with full flood feature all controlled with a 6-button controller.
My crown Vic when I got out of the academy last year had the pattern at 1:12. This light bar was awesome, the scene and alley lights were very helpful.
This slams the competition. This is now the standard for the Arizona Troopers, and it's highly visible on bright Arizona summer days'. For fire trucks, I love the fedsig Navigator, especially with the new 6x4 Traffic Clearing LED heads. With these, not even the Valor can match the Navigator light output.
Agreed, the Navigator bar is a whole new beast. Between wanting to acquire a Navigator bar for my collection, I am also interested to acquire the new Vision SLR bar as I have the Vector, Vision and currently the Valor.
Possible, I've never noticed the whooshing sounds on any other bar I've mounted but that's just me. Makes sense for aerodynamics but I have a feeling the main thought behind the design was to be a lot more noticeable at different angles especially approaching intersections instead of just lights flashing straight ahead. At least with this design, now lights will flash and be more noticeable at a 45 angle as well as straight on.
You may be able to find a used one somewhere online but with that color configuration, unsure. Otherwise, you may have to play the waiting game to find on used online or order a newly setup one with Federal Signal.
You can make this bar all red or all blue however, the leds need to be setup from the factory for all red and or all blue. Then programming from there is a little easier but the bar has to be setup for it first.
Garrett G., very good question...each one I have I enjoy a lot because of the amount of time I've worked with each one repairing and refurbishing each one. I'd say it's between my Vision and my Valor. The Vision because it came off an older CHP 1992 Ford Crown Victoria that was wrecked and my Valor because of the newer styler leds and a few other things I installed with it and set for programming. I have my eyes on a we can Whelen that if I get it or build it, may be my ultimate favorite.

I agree with your favorites very much even though I don't own either bar yet the vision and the valor are beautiful bars and unlike any other bars both in their shape, design and functionality. Not sure how you got your hands on that valor but I am quite jealous! They run for over $3,000 new!!!

When this video was completed, I was using at the time the Federal Signal 6-Button Controller. I have set these lightbars up with the new Federal Signal Smart Siren Platinum Controller. You can technically run these off the SS2000SM but have a Serial Interface Module in between the lightbar and the SS2000SM.
Bradley Edwards, I've yet to get my hands on one but looking at their different layout configurations/setups, it looks like a nice bar. It reminds me of the Whelen Freedom Lightbar but the big thing I do like about the Navigator bar from Federal Signal is the unique choice of using LED reflectors and LED rotators in one platform using their exclusive Solaris® LED Rotating Reflectors (SLR) and QuadraFlare® reflectors. I'd love to get my hands on one and set it up and give a real accurate review with the bar going through the ins and outs of the bar.
I'd like to see the freedom bars in a dual color, they have them on the new FDNY trucks. Whelen is coming out with a new bar, it looks like a redesigned liberty bar.
Bradley Edwards, agreed. I'd like to get a dual, tri or even quad color. Well my design would be tri or quad color if I could. I'm currently working on a tri color now.
This bar requires a cat5 connection so it would not work with the standard smart siren. The standard smart sirens utilize multiple wiring instead of the cat5 connection.

@@MikeHiLo I would say the different controllers to look for other than the smart siren platinum would be the 3-butoon controller, the 6-button control or a serial interface module. In my opinion, I would do either the serial interface module or the 6-button controller. I love the small compactness of the 6-botton as it also has a slide switch but the serial interface module gives you a ton of options you can utilize and make a switch panel to control different functions of the bar. One thing I did not think about until now is if you have a smart siren that has the cat5 connection like used on the Federal Signal Vision bars, that may work. I have an extra one that I can test to see if it does in fact work. However, if you have the standard smart siren controller that was used toward the vector bars, such as the models SS2000SM, technically yes, you CAN use that with a serial interface model in between. I have 3 pending other videos I'm working on uploading for this weekend or next, I'll make one for you to show how to do so with this setup if you need visuals of how to hook that up.

I tried wiring it up but had no success,, the siren box actually starts making weird noises,, I'm assuming a malfunction or something along those lines from the wires being connected wrong? Not sure... But the video would definitely be useful and appreciated if you could... thanks for the help,, this lightbar is a little more complicated than I originally thought....
@@MikeHiLo yea, they can be a little tricky. Is your box making like a buzzing noise? I've had a couple of those do that and something was going bad till I swapped them. But I'll get a video going showing how to set that up with wiring diagrams and all as well.

I heard that the pointed end at the front is good for cutting through the air more efficiently so it minimizes the whooshing sound.

Negative, they are just setup as the standard hotfoots that are currently setup for only being white modules for mode 3 and take-downs.

Will this work with a Whelen CenCom, I need to put this on a corvette and wire it into a CenCom Sapphire (CCSRN36)

Yes, they are original with the bar when I got the bar setup.
The lower flashers are perm hotfoot. The bar itself is hook mounted.

This bar requires a cat5 connection so it would not work with the standard smart siren. The standard smart sirens utilize multiple wiring instead of the cat5 connection.
