@Horse007able Yes at the bottom of the shifter assembly there is a metal part that connects to the cable. Its a plastic tab, how i removed it was using a flat head screw driver and popped it of. to put it back on it snaps back in place. Hope this helps.
@daderespresenative First yo need to get the shifter from a junk yard. They usually go for around 40-60 bucks. It comes has a whole assembly like a box. Then you have to park your LS. First take the trim around the shifter out first including the cup holders. Then there are 4 bolts you have to unscrew that hold down the shift assembly. After you un bolt it, do NOT take it out just yet. You have to jack up one side of the car and release the shifter from the shift cable.
@daderespresenative It sounds more difficult than it is. The Shifter is only attached to the cable by a plastic tab, you just use a flat head screw driver to pop it out. Then take the shift assembly out of the center console (be sure to unplug it first there is one large harness that plugs into it). Then put the new SST Shift Assembly in its place. Bolt it down. Then go back under the car and attach the shift cable to the shifter. Just make sure you remember what gear you left it in.
@jrmc21 It cost around 50 dollars shipped from a junk yard. If you can find one locally then you can save some bucks on shipping It takes about an hour and a half to install... very easy but takes time
@sourtwister19 Yes sir, 3.0 DOHC V6 with 232 HP and 220 lb.ft for the 2nd gen, and 3.9 DOHC V8 with 280 HP and 286 lb.ft. I have a heavy foot too. I took it on a trip from RI to Rochester NY and I averaged 25.5 mpg and that was with a heavy foot so I was pretty happy about that.
@mrshootzyawsome 2000-2002 are the same and 2003-2006 are the same. you have to get one from the year group your car is so it will fit. the 00-02 are black and rounded and will not fit in the center console of an 03-06. 03-06 are square and silver.
@sourtwister19 I live in RI, its about 3.55-3.65 currently. I average around 23 mpg with the V6 and it has an 18 gallon tank. I can usually get over 400 miles on a tank. So it can get pricey to fill up. I think my last fill up was 54 bucks.
Did you ever replace the engine in this? Or did you get rid of it I’m in RI and I swear this looks identical to a LS I just bought I own a 02 V8 but I just inquired on a 04 V6
@midnightshadevsr It will shift into 5 once you start moving but since I wasn't moving it only let me go up to 4. Later in the video you can see me shift into 5
@midnightshadevsr Hi Midnightshadevsr, Yes it will work on gen 1's as well As for the mirror's I am not 100% I think they should already have the puddle lamps but if not I am sure you can swap them in but you would have to spice them into the dome light wiring so they turn on when you open the doors :)
@JKCougar YOU THE MAN i KNEWWW it was possible to do it because its the same transmission but different shifters. also do you think that the reason the SST isn't shifting to 5 is because it still reads that you have the basic shifter and that i might need to be either switched with a transmission computer that already has the SST settings or have it reprogrammed?
@JKCougar Oh. thats pretty much what I been putting in my Jeep.. I got a 4.0, the v6 you got is what.. a 3.0 and the v8 a 3.9? I have a heavy foot though.. i can't do anything under 80MPH on the highway.. thats why I fuel up soooo much.
ay @JKCougar i think you kinda answered my question, but the only thing i wanted to make sure is this...will it work with the first generation Lincoln LS (00-02) because i plan on buying a LS next month (V6 or V8) and its more then likely i might buy the one with no sports package. I've been asking myself the same question for the longest so i'm going to need your help on that. Another thing the LS 2nd gens have the foldable mirrors with the puddle lamp, will that fit the 1st gens?

I think this will be the first mod I will do when I get my 05 Ls. Might do the paddle shifter mod too!
