I am definitely trying this for myself, living in a house with all hardwood floors. Lowe's has the DAP Commercial Kitchen 9.8-oz Clear Silicone Caulk food-grade silicone for kitchen use. I also saw that Gorilla Grip is supposed to be food safe also: Gorilla 100 Percent Silicone Sealant Caulk, 2.8 ounce Squeeze Tube, Clear. I'm not buying a caulking gun for this purpose so I will go with the Gorilla Grip in the small tube that I can squeeze by hand. Only one pair of leather slippers and a couple pairs of socks to do, so I dont need a caulking gun laying around with no other use for it. **Edit: I'm not really too worried about any caulk being food safe, as I'm not eating it and I'm not using it to prepare food on, as well as it's going to be completely dry before wearing the socks. I doubt anyone's died from physical contact with caulk in the kitchen on the counter surfaces or in the bathroom on the tile. Much to-do about nothing.
Food safe is necessary for little ones because they put everything in their mouths. No parent wants to wonder and worry if even a small amount of unsafe chemical may cause issues. Think lead poisoning. Small amounts can matter

how well does this stuff hold on leather? i'm looking to add some grip to a pair of gloves. A pair i've bought before had some rubber dots on the palm that worked great and i loved them, but new versions of that glove no longer have them.
Aren't U supposed to stretch the fabric first before applying the DAP so that later when the fabric IS stretched, the dap won't crack and split---??? I notice you mentioned them being washed several times. I have heard not to put non-skid socks in dryer though, because it melts the anti-skid stuff...

Shouldn't. Silicone is what so many oven mitts and cooking utensils are made of. Can stand up to 450°F, I believe. Your clothes dryer doesn't even get to 150°F
+Brewmaster C Sorry one more question. What is the curing process. Do I need to heat it right after with something, after putting it on? /my bf is asking this question
FYI this Dap product 08641 is no longer food safe or safe for incidental food contact. Probably don't want this going into your childs mouth, not sure about skin contact. I just purchased and am returning.

DAP Commercial Kitchen Silicone Caulk is Food Grade. (Just don't dry on high temp...use low or med.)
