How To Defuse A Bomb | Minutes With | UNILAD

  • In this episode of ‘Minutes With’, we sat down with Chris Fuller, a former British Army Bomb Disposal Officer, who now does humanitarian work in the Middle East defusing bombs left behind ISIS.
Chris talks to us about defusing bombs in the centre of London, and the difference between working in the UK and abroad. He then tells one of the most incredible stories we've ever heard in this series, when he describes his method for defusing an ISIS IED.

Fair fucks to ladbible for making this stuff. This is proper journalism, the people watching are free to make up their own minds. Humility and realism, no bragging about heroism, no nationalism, just one brave human being helping another. Empathy is not something usually celebrated, especially in war. It's beautiful to see.

The second sign concerns the sun, which will loom larger, brighter and begin to spin.
Scientists will say it was a global illusion.
Beaware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again.
After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way.
Don`t trust „pope“ Francis = the False Prophet
      - will seem to rise from the dead
      - will unite all Christian Churches and all Religions as one.
One World Religion = the seat of the Antichrist.
Benedict XVI is the last true pope - will be accused of a crime of which he is totally innocent.
      - banking collapse was deliberately masterminded by the Antichrist
      - Antichrist will step in and create a false peace in the state of Israel by joining them with palestine in an unlikely alliance.

@Khalil G dealing with explosives is always dangerous, no matter who made them. Most conventional explosive incidents in europe are with very very old pieces of munition (grenades, bombs, mortar shells, rifle grenades, etc etc) and they are still dangerous. If they were not dangerous, people wouldnt send EOD out for it. These guys know what they are doing and they make it relatively safe (relative being the key word). And working with homemade stuff is incredibly common in places like afghanistan. its IED central there.

    • @footyfan1248

@Khalil G I do the same job as Chris and, you are not correct. There are no written instructions from a manufacturer on how to deal with their item of ordnance should it fail because there are a multitude of reasons why it may fail. Instructions or Render Safe Procedures as we call them, come from Operators that have gone before and written down what they did. Take a German WW2 bomb for instance (as Chris discusses), that bomb could potentially have three fuses in it, one in the nose, one transverse (on the side) and one in the tail. Whilst Chris rightly points out that a clock could have stopped, many bombs were dropped with time delay fuzes built into them and until you get at the fuze and see the markings, you will not know what it is that you are dealing with and even then, it was not massively uncommon for markings to be deliberately mislabeled. Your comment regarding home made stuff (IED's) is also incorrect. There are literally hundreds of ways in which you could make an IED function and the Operator needs to formulate his own plan based on the information that he gleans at the approach to and observation of the target item. We have one over riding thought. If the target for / of the IED is not obvious then, its you.

Regardless he’s respectable for doing what he does, but he is not a freedom fighter. Most Brits are not, the Brits do not care about freedoms they care about security by a large majority unlike other nations with more variety of policies and politics. Britain is a left wing ideology state, freedom is not a priority. Forcing peace, safety is, even if that just means hiding evil when it’s still there.

There has to be something wrong with people like this, and i don't mean it in a bay way.
Contrary to popular display in movies, most western soldiers that get deployed into hostile areas are meant to return fire in case of being under fire, instead of seeking and destroying. Meaning they only shoot when they are shot at, in it's core it's an easy response to follow through - someone means harm to you in a direct way, and assuming you don't get nailed then and there, you defend your self by doing the same.
But in bomb disposal, your enemy is not attacking you, it's not a threat in it's entirety, only by it's design, and it becomes a direct threat upon you approaching and engaging with it. That would be the equivalent of a soldier coming up to a hostile target for an attempt to take him out, but giving him the first shot. It's total insanity and a display of balls in proportions only read about in bibles.

    • @lincolnduke
      @lincolnduke 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Bomb disposal really began in the UK in WW2. As he said, not all bombs detonated so it was just a case of walking up to it and removing the fuse. The germans realised this and started using the Zeus 40 fuse which was a secondary fuse that detonated when the first was physically removed, so they were bombs directly targeting the disposal team.

Utmost respect to him and the other selfless souls who do this kind of stuff, the weight they carry is more than anyone should ever have to bear.

In Northern Ireland a Sgt. Bomb disposal lived within the camp, he died trying to defuse an IRA bomb. Two weeks later his replacement arrived and he died within a few days on another bomb. The saddest thing was that we were still receiving their mail for months after their deaths. Soldiers were dying on a daily basis and the press no longer reported the incidents or stuck it on the back page. I still remember those brave men.

@@Rawc90 It wasn't a case of wrong maths. You are dealing with 1,000lbs of high explosive that is contained in a steel case so, its massively powerful and no matter what you do, if it explodes, it is going to cause a massive shock wave (underground) and just a big a blast wave above ground. We can mitigate by doing what we call "protective works,) ie, dig a deep big trench to stop or reduce the shock wave underground, put it blast walls such as containers filled with earth etc and overhead protection to try and reduce the blast and debris upwards but at the end of the day, if it cannot be defused (made safe) and your only option is to blow in situ, there remains a distinct possibility that there is going to be some structural damage out to some distance.
