An amazing turnaround since it was just a year or two prior to the show, that school teams were even struggling to get enough sign ups. I used to mock volleyball when I was younger, but man I was so wrong. The anime has turned me into a volleyball fan and I am thoroughly enjoying this season's VNL games!
@@themckibbinbrothers Yeah I would love to watch that too. I'm sure Japanese Tv has probably had tv spots about it. I mean, I found a video of the current Nat'l Japanese team (Nishida, Yanagida, Sekita, and Yamauchi) talking about the show and how they are such fans of the show and how they watch it for motivation for games in real life as well and sees parallels between their attitude and playing style with characters from the show. I was never interested in volleyball because of how I could barely reach the top of the net when we had volleyball in PE and I'm only 5'1. I love sports but I just gave up on even trying out volleyball from the very beginning because I thought there's no way I could play volleyball properly with my height. And then came Haikyuu. I thought "It's just about volleyball and this sport just isn't for me". But then I learned that Hinata was only a bit taller and he can spike just fine. I thought "Well, it's an anime so it's probably exaggerated" but googled the highest vertical jump anyway and turns out it's very well possible to jump that high. And I never knew volleyball was so much fun before I watched Haikyuu. Now I also follow real life volleyball matches. One of my favorite quotes from Haikyuu is *"I am built upon the small things I do every day."* I got really lazy during the pandemic but I have started to workout daily recently (especiall working to jump higher). I don't know if I can jump like Hinata one day but I am built upon the small things I do every day so it feels good either way to just keep going. "He who would climb a ladder must begin at the bottom". If you aspire something, don't be afraid to do it. Just start doing it, day by day, step by step and you'll surely be better than you were yesterday. I love Haikyuu because aside from volleyball it shows so many important aspects about life and growing up, especially if you're all caught up to the manga (it's not just about volleyball at all). Haikyuu reminded me of a lot of important mindsets in life and taught me many new ones. I wished I had come across this story when I was still in school. It's truly worth a read for anyone. Please read/watch Haikyuu!!
I started playing volleyball because of the haikyuu manga when i was 5'4 and 15 years old, at 19 and still only 5'6 i won my countries u20 Championship i practice 3 times a week with my club and play beach on the weekends for fun. Volleyball has brought friends, fitness and fun to my life
@@themckibbinbrothers oh damn i didnt realize you guys replied, Im from Austria. And a small correction: We have now moved up to the "2nd Bundesliga" and practice 4 times a week
Great video!! Haikyuu resparked my love for volleyball as well, especially during a time when I was losing motivation, since I, as a freshman, felt like I couldn't improve, especially among all the other more skilled varsity players. I liked volleyball in middle school because it was something that I was good at (at that level), but after watching Haikyuu, I learned that there's so much more to volleyball than I thought there was, and after seeing the passion in Karasuno and other teams to improve, grow, and ultimately win, it lit up my passion as well!
This is a good video to show people how close Haikyuu is to irl Volleyball. Great show to recommend to people that might have slight interest in the sport and win them over :D. It even inspired me to incorporate ball practices in the gym even though I just started vball just a year ago.
I was on my way to see a Haikyuu Reaction video and saw this video pop up. I love your videos with your intricate storytelling; you guys never disappoint. Amazing Video!!! Love your channel and your content.
I think that haikyuu; despite the exaggerated speed and power, is easier to follow than a real volley ball game. The camera in the game following the ball allows you to see it way better.
Team of little Giants very nicely said Mckibbin and also I learned everything about volleyball from haikyuu you could say that haikyuu gave me a dream in my life
I've have seen a lot of other "Haikyuu in real life" videos, but nothing at all like this. This was way more in depth and really suspenseful. Thanks man
This show is the reason i want to start playing volleyball. I’ve never seen a sport like it. I’ve played rugby my whole life, and it doesn’t come close to the team play that’s required for volleyball. So glad I watched this show, and saw the awesome sport!
Our 1st year men's team at The Master's University took a picture in the same pose as the Haikyuu team picture. We had a few undersized players who were very strong physically & determined to dominate their much bigger competition. The season didn't go as planned, but as a coach it was exciting to watch those young men come together & put forth some incredible effort, play some amazing games & create moments I won't ever forget. But their passion for Haikyuu will definitely be something that will forever be linked with that great group of young men. I'm always exploring ways as a coach to teach players how to take their game to the next level & play with supreme confidence. I'm always mesmerized by teams that include a lot of movement offensively with their attack. Absolutely love trying to incorporate the international game into the sport here in the states. Love the limitless creativity you can explore as a coach & as a player. Great variety of volleyball content guys!!!
Been a haikyuu fan for years and a volleyball player for even longer, and it's great to see it being so widespread throughout the vb community as of recent. Awesome vid guys
Volleyball is the best sport hands down. I like volleyball before I watched haikyuu and then loved volleyball even more after watching it. But even before watching it I was at a STEM week long camp/class and the PhD professor that was teaching us said that volleyball was the best team sport out of them all. That stuck with me to this day. Love volleyball so much and year I have never played on a team lol
Watching this video is great, I’m a fan of both Haikyuu and the channel, and volleyball is something I love. Watching that Japanese team play, and listening to you discuss how they were so skilled even if they weren’t gifted physically helps to keep me going. Seeing that gives me even more of a reason to try and reach for playing professional volleyball. I do have the odds against me, I’m 6 foot, and play on a girls team as the only guy, plus I’m not allowed to spike or block, but I train as much as I can to try and reach that goal, however far it is
I were in the same situation a few years back. I trained with girls, and only girls for the first few years since there weren't many boys, and now I get paid to play volleyball since I left the old club. Sadly just injured myself yesterday as I went for a block, and landed badly
This video was not was I expecting, but what I needed. It's very nice to hear stories about how differently people play the sport, and how about they get inspired. Great video!
Couldnt agree more with what you explained about Haikyuu, the character development is incredible and it actually teaches a lot about the volleyball... anybody into the sport should watch it and anybody looking into watching an incredible anime should watch it as well, and I promise it will get you to like volleyball.
Wow the block moment when dude came from behind was just insane. They were great, maybe some of them are still playing. Man you have a life full of surprises. I wonder how would be in the sand. Awesome!!
Thats a great video and story! I don't play Volleyball but Haikyuu introduced me to this amazing sport and as a undersized 5'9 Basketball guard i could really relate to the main character. Wish i'd had his hops tho
I can't imagine how much time it took you to clip all those scene's to put this together, but you really did make it look like a mirror match. Super cool video, and interesting to know that the top American players changed their game to continue to dominate the country by taking what they learned from the shell shock of realizing they weren't unbeatable.
@@themckibbinbrothers No problem. We all appreciate the content. Beach volleyball is starting up for me next week and I'm basically a soft blob of flesh at the moment. Keep your fingers crossed for my knees and shoulders.
I never played volleyball but I learned the basics, the roles, and even techniques from haikyuu. I not only became interested in volleyball but I can now use these techniques in real games.
as a young teenager (13) who has grown up playing lacrosse since age 3, volleyball has struck this new spark in my soul. the thrill that i get when watching rallies, or being in that one good rally during a small match of sand volleyball a few weeks ago, they both sent my adrenaline to the roof! as much as i love lacrosse, volleyball is much more fascinating and mind-stimulating to me. and this video gives me so much excitement and joy about trying out for my school's team this fall. thank you for this video :-)
I've been watching Haikyuu these past few weeks with zero prior understanding of volleyball, and I fell in love with the show and have learned so much about the sport! And I started googling to watch some real matches (now that I understand the rules) and found your wonderfully made video. What a delightful find and exciting sport! (How is volleyball not more popular??)
Haikyuu is the reason I joined a rec volley ball team in my late 20’s. I did not play it in school, I was short (shocker still am) and in my head only tall kids played volleyball. Love playing it now. Great video, I’ll watch a few more and you may have a new sub. Cheers!
This is a super interesting storytime comparing your real life experience with a Japanese high school team & haikyuu and insight on different countries styles of play. I'd also really like to just give props to Furudate. I really don't think people understand how amazing he told the story of Haikyuu and in doing so you really can see how much he loves the sport. I have always said Haikyuu is quite possibly the worst sports anime to start off on to get into the genre of sports anime because it truly lies on a complete different tier from other sports animes. It's not just that volleyball is a fast pace sport that the anime doesn't truly seem exaggerated. Lots of sports rely on quick instant reflexes but their anime counterparts take at least some unrealistic approaches. But Furudate made a conscious decision to write a story depicting this sport he loves so much in the most ideal realistic way possible. And it's tempered with great characters & personalities and not driven by forced over dramatics.
Man I wish I played volleyball in high school after watching Haikyuu! It’s such an amazing show and it just makes me someone with no volleyball culture or experience just love the game. But I’m 5 years out of high school so tough, I would’ve been a little giant at Kamehameha Kapalama.
Incredible job on this video, really loved it. It must have been so cool to have a chance to play against such a unique playstyle at a high school level. I hope you you will follow new haikuu seasons when they come out because best parts of the story are just yet to be shown. (there are still around 36 episodes left to be adapted)
I started playing due to haikyuu but the more games I watched the more skills videos I watched the more I feel in love with the sport and now Every time I feel any bit burned out your videos always make me itching to play again
Not only is the edit on this great, but the thesis and spirit of this one is outstanding! Loved your message and execution, this was so much more than I thought it would be. Thank you 🙏
why am I crying when he said "never underestimate the little guys". Hits me right in the spot :V Now you're giving me enough reason to play again volleyball, I'm 160 cm.
I'll be honest, I put off this video for 3 days thinking "ah so they've given into the haikyuu craze too." Boy was I wrong. I got genuinely excited through the video seeing the plays line up just like in the anime (especially after the 3 minute mark) GREAT PRODUCTION!
My favorite 3 YT channels that I always look forward to watching is yours, Elevate Yourself and Better at Beach Volleyball. Another volleyball anime that just came out this year if you haven’t watch is called 2.43 Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team.
Just started Haikyuu and almost binged it all now I can’t stop thinking about wanting to start playing volleyball cause I never realized how cool it was till I saw the anime
As a volleyball player I sometimes get annoyed by haikyuu fans relating every Vball video to it but....I ain’t gonna cap I’m a HUGE fan of the show. Amazing job portraying the sport through a storyline! Made very accessible to non-athletes but still packed with information. Nice to see you guys cover this one! There is a beach Vball arc in the original source material and I hope they animate it cuz it’s damn good🔥
The editing was INSANE 👏👏, congradution guys. The reason i got interested in Volleyball and eventually found this channel was because of Haikyuu (even beach volleyball was because of haikyuu hahaha). I started watching the show 4 years ago and since then i'm OBSESSED about a sport that i used to see as super boring. And i'm still hoping to play one day. Because is like you said, is Volleyball but it could be any other sport, the core of the story is the conflict and the growth, passion, and bond between the characters. And Volleyball have this weird, symbolically beautiful, and rare way of connecting people by the structure of the sport; the players and plays are connected like the series loves to say.
That's why I love this show so much, it has such a good story... but it brings so many new players to a sport (especially male players) and I think this could really make volleyball more mainstream around the world.
This anime is great. Volleyball is great. Putting them together was a match made in heaven in my book and seeing it in real life makes it all the more epic! I wish my high school team hadn't sucked so bad at volleyball haha

Cool stuff!
Dear Sirs, may I introduced you to this documentary showcasing the impact of Haikyu to Japanese Volleyball. This is even older than the interview videos you watched.

@@themckibbinbrothers maybe not single-handedly, but Haikyuu did rekindle the burning fire of Volleyball in Japan, at least among the Japanese youths as seen in this documentary.
th-cam.com/video/uxwc5v8Sqbg/w-d-xo.html
@@MsGaijinSyauqi thank you for finding this! A bit heartbreaking though since yanagida wasn't chosen for Japan's Nat'l team this year.
@@trackhoodie1741 no problem. Yeah a bit sad knowing that Yanagida is not part of the VNL this year.
It takes a lot to accept someone to be better than yourself. Absolute sportsmanship in this video. I'm in awe. Thank you champ.
One of my favorite quotes from Haikyuu is *"I am built upon the small things I do every day."*
I got really lazy during the pandemic but I have started to workout daily recently (especiall working to jump higher).
I started playing volleyball because of the haikyuu manga when i was 5'4 and 15 years old,
at 19 and still only 5'6 i won my countries u20 Championship
i practice 3 times a week with my club and play beach on the weekends for fun.
@@themckibbinbrothers AHHHHHHH this is so cool!!! I never had a creator reply to my comment beforeee :DDDDD
@@themckibbinbrothers Cheers!!
This is a good video to show people how close Haikyuu is to irl Volleyball. Great show to recommend to people that might have slight interest in the sport and win them over :D. It even inspired me to incorporate ball practices in the gym even though I just started vball just a year ago.
the editing and storytelling is AMAZING wow
Amazing video man, i'm happy you're enjoying the series!!
One of the best video i ve ever seen for years, i have goosepump.
I must say i really love this video. All the pieces of real footage right next to haikyuu made me want to try Volleyball even more :)
This is unbelievable. The quality of this video editing mixed with the epicness of the match is amazing!
Thank you for not making a Haikyuu reaction video and making something unique!
@@davidnguyen6823 keep training!! Even if one part of you can’t play train other parts, you got this
@@jackhoskins5526 sprained ankle😅 not gonna be able to do much currently, but as soon as it's healed, I'll be back on the court!
Awesome!!
this was dope, thank you for sharing. and just like you said after watching Haikyuu its only made me more interested in volleyball
To be honest this is the best haikyu in real life video ive seen so far dammmmn the edit is on point
Cheers!
Y’all just continue to absolutely crush the story telling! Keep it up 💪🏻
What a well made video! Thoroughly enjoyed
good find...I’m tempted to say your subscriber count is gonna attract a lot of haikyu fans lol and that’s a whole fan base in itself... great video
I'm really enjoying how all the volleyball powerhouse channels are making haikyuu related content.
THIS VIDEO WAS AMAZING WOAH. You're so lucky to have PLAYED such a legendary match...so cool!!!!
Started volleyball maybe 5 years ago cause of haikyuu just played some college open gyms. Big erik fan didn’t know you guys played together sick!
the video we al needed, and it's even better than expected!
I started playing due to haikyuu but the more games I watched the more skills videos I watched the more I feel in love with the sport and now Every time I feel any bit burned out your videos always make me itching to play again
Wow, this is the best video I've ever seen about how Haikyuu relates to real life!
Not only is the edit on this great, but the thesis and spirit of this one is outstanding! Loved your message and execution, this was so much more than I thought it would be. Thank you 🙏
why am I crying when he said "never underestimate the little guys". Hits me right in the spot :V
Now you're giving me enough reason to play again volleyball, I'm 160 cm.
what a video. Enjoyed it alot!
Thanks for this Info, thought and pictures. It's incredible how those Anime mouv can be found in real life.
I know nothing about volleyball, but Haikyuu is honestly one of my favorite anime. All the characters are just so cool and wholesome. It's great
Your video edits are AWESOME, I loved your video!
I'll be honest, I put off this video for 3 days thinking "ah so they've given into the haikyuu craze too." Boy was I wrong. I got genuinely excited through the video seeing the plays line up just like in the anime (especially after the 3 minute mark) GREAT PRODUCTION!
@@themckibbinbrothers 🙏much love, and keep it up!
I started watching your videos because haikyuu made me love volleyball I even started playing because of it
Patiently waiting for more open gym on Mondays where I live, finished Haikyuu so its all about watching others talk about it lmao. Great editing btw!
I freaken love this series. The suspense is real. It was like every match was an Olympic final.
My favorite 3 YT channels that I always look forward to watching is yours, Elevate Yourself and Better at Beach Volleyball.
Another volleyball anime that just came out this year if you haven’t watch is called 2.43 Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team.
Haikyuu is such a good ankle. I’m not a big sports anime fan but holy crap this show have such passion behind the main character.
Haha hell yea Haikyuu goes hard. I jus started watching it. Dope video. Killer production. Keep it up McKibbin bros! Big up from ATL
There is a beach Vball arc in the original source material and I hope they animate it cuz it’s damn good🔥
The editting in this vid is crazy, it enhances the storytelling so much!
Japan players just seem to be really fast and it’s a fun way to play the game.
i love haikyuu and i absolutely love this video you have made, thank you so much
Bro this deserves way more views. Absolutely awesome.
