@@mistermonstr699 Well, Kratos released the powers of hope inside of him when he commited suicide to give it to the people in the world. I can imagine that he maybe doesnt posess the powers that killed Zeus anymore. However, Kratos still murdered almighty gods way before he unleashed these powers. It is still very odd. Maybe... the years as a father in the forest soften him up a little?

The paint was placed by Kratos's wife, (Atreus's mother), to guide them. They discover it when you finish the main story quest and spread her ashes.

Dutch OPWW Tbh it's still pretty stupid. It feels lazy and a convenient excuse. Especially when kratos and baldur's first fight more or less splits a damn mountain open and you go down the (oddly convenient pathway) and you see paint on the wall where you climb along.
@@gamelegendalpha1737 She might not have to go to literally every spot. It could just be some sort of long distance magic marking. As for the pathway being convenient, it doesn't mean anything to her since she could literally see their future steps.
Having said that, it was clearly included for gameplay. You see it a lot in some other AAA games with platforming elements, like The Last of Us and Uncharted. It's just that GoW actually bothered to put in an explanation for it for some emotional impact, rather than ignore it completely.
Kratos does not know that.
@@gamelegendalpha1737 well, it's at least some excuse since the game would be limited like this anyway. It's no Mirror's Edge(where it's the main focus of the game) or Assassins Creed(where it breaks the game and physics just for looks all the time).

Haven't noticed it being bad in any way because of this... though no, it's no RPG, it's just upgrade system with some dialogues and side activities. There is no branching quest paths.

@@TheArklyte Never said it was bad. I was referring to a number of RPG elements such as levels, perk-like upgrades, armor, stats, cool downs, collectables and an open world, that really diverge from the original series' roots.

I actually never thought of that...Kratos has Slaughtered the Greek Gods...yet he cannot slaughter some draughr bitch who has purple health...and we even see him pushing/lifting/turning things with such ease that if he put that amount of strenght into his attacks, he could literally Oblitherate them with a finger flick, Deku style (without the bone shattering tho)
This is why Levels in God of War is fkn stupid...good game tho.
If God of war 2018 had Kratos at lore power the gameplay would be a joke. Imagine 2 shoting Sigrun and taking no damage. Cory Barlog clearly stated that the gameplay abilities of Kratos are not to be confused with his lore power.

But point still remains, he is a God Of War, he should hit harder than that.

3:10 I don’t know why, but the second I heard Brok roast Kratos’s blacksmith skills I keeled over in laughter until my sides ached. Seriously, I don’t know what it it about the “Well I baked a pie once… Then I got back to what I was good at.” line that I find so hilarious. I’ve watched it over at least 16 times and I have yet to not fall over laughing again.

That with the paint is actually explained at the end of the game where Artreus comments on it when they clime up the stairs is Jotunheim saying that it was his mother who had marked them after seeing the path they would walk.

After a couple hours I switched the gameplay to easy because it was so boring hitting a draiuger 15 times to kill it, 10,000 of them in the game. Feel more like a god a war when it takes 3 or 4 haha

That combat part really pissed me off because it directly defies the lore of not only the series as a whole, but the individual game itself. In the game Kratos' attacks shatter boulders and desolate the landscape, each blow from his fist carrying enough force to kill almost any reasonably sized creature on impact... Then you spend two minutes slashing at some dude with fancy armor who can kill you in one hit. Then you get that armor, and it's still not enough to actually protect you from most enemies.
I understand why the made it the way they did, but... While i dont know how they could have i feel like it could have been dine a little better kinda kills the Emerson... Hell even nust a conversation about how he has to turn god mode it on and off or some thing

And? Wasn't it exactly like this all previous times, huh? Consider it as Kratos getting back into shape after long vacation from his career if you can't see it as gameplay necessity. Plus he's constantly holding back if you've forgotten the storyline. Even in *cutscenes* with Baldur you can notice the shift of power between their first and last fight.
@@TheArklyte In the other games Kratos started weak and got progressively stronger, and in combat was still more powerful than most of his enemies. In this, in the actual fucking game, you are incredibly powerful, but can't kill a 200 year old dead guy without nearly dying. Then when its convenient suddenly you're powerful enough to split open a mountain. If they actually made Kratos weaker that's one thing, but they didn't, they just made enemies that are powerful for no reason. And if he's holding back, which is already really stupid, don't you think he would have stopped when fighting a huge monster that shoots lasers and eats souls? What about Atareus, who can't kill one draugr on his own, but can then kill an entire army of elves off screen? They made both gods incredibly over powered in the story, but for gameplay made them weaker than everything but the ordinary humans and nightmares.
