I don't know who these real people are, or who Hogan's Real Americans are, but I do work side by side with Trumpites (so much more diminutive than Trumpster, c'mon Hulk). Two in their sixties, divorced, kids don't talk to them, have openly expressed some terrible things about killing/rounding up/"getting rid of" immigrants and then some of the worst racism. But, these same guys will smile at and engage joyfully with a little black kid curious about their work. The other Trumpites are younger, still in their first marriage with kids, broker than hell. I haven't heard such vitriolic talk and I haven't invited it.
I don't really know what a fascist is or what fascism looks like, but the direction of the judiciary in the country and the idolization of Trump doesn't seem great. What is this, the worst corruption of democracy? What does it turn into?

I'm 40 now and doing alright, but I remember struggling in my younger days when things were much cheaper. I don't know how young people outside of a few job fields are making it work.

Last year somewhere between 70-80% of my income went to rent. I'm very lucky to have some family support available to me when necessary.
And that in Canada we get not too awful tax refunds throughout the year if your work income is low enoigh.

Not surprising to me that the shooter had no clear political affiliation -- there was no social "we" to develop his "I"

Woke seems a lot dumber than PC, that might just be the internet, but SJW was the bridge between the two.
The perception that woke is just an even more degraded form of PC might just be because I wasn’t a conscious being when PC was in use.
But at least the term itself wasn’t thrice reappropriated slang
