I`ve been playing over 50 yrs.. I retired, sold my expensive basses and just buy the cheap ones and tweak them with whatever they need. It`s fun.
Similar for me too. I have one valuable 1960's bass and a couple of Squiers, and the one I always reach for first is the cheapest - an Affinity PJ bass.
The only thing I don't like about Squiers is that they come with Fender round wound strings which are frankly crap, so I swap them out for LaBella or D'Addario flat wounds right away.
I could not agree more with you on the fact this is a killer deal, forget the snobs, it has a role to play and it achieved that role.
Bass! Now we’re getting somewhere! Lol
But seriously, I love P bass. I have pretty much the same model, just an older version. I think it’s a great bass straight out of the box (very little tweaking required). I also got a Schecter bass, and then my pride and joy, a genuine Charvel P bass. For the price, that Fender Squier P bass is fantastic. Great review! Keep it up!

Fender Squier series is a great bang for your buck. All you really need to do to upgrade it is put in a high mass bridge and file down the sharp edges on the frets, maybe oil the fretboard. The stock pickups already sound pretty good and the bridge is really what changes the tone the most. I am blessed to have a real Fender Player Series P-bass, but these are great too!
A give away price. A great set up, and your thumping. Amazing stuff in 2024 for working musicians. Great review!!!!!

Great vid! I was hoping they’d release a short scale bass with two pickups - either PBJ or Jazz. I know many players love the good old P-Bass, but a two pickups config gives a beginner some room to explore tones as they keep learning - and lets us guitar players shape bass tones with two pickups when we already know how to do that. Also, short scale is much much more approachable from a playability standpoint for bass beginners and guitar players. I’m hoping Fender will give us a a 28” or a 30-32” short scale. I tried a 36” bass, and I find the thick taut strings make my joints hurt on both hands coming from guitar.
I’d also love a Bass VI in this series, just sayin’. 🎸🤘🏻😎
They already do Mustang basses (short scale 30" I think) and there is a Squire Mini P Bass that is 28" scale 👍

I have a Fender Squire Affinity P Bass with Duncan Designed pickups..I haven't played it in a long time...I need to start playing some bass again...
Looks nice, and I am a fan of the satin finish. I am working on a Telecaster build, and it's going to be a satin finish.
I'm digging the satin finish too... says the girl who has a microfiber polishing cloth in every single guitar case for her glossies! OCD much? Yeppers! 😂
@JamieLynnMorris I am doing a satin finish because it looks good and it's much easier to do. Perhaps in the future, I will do a gloss if I have the tools. All my other guitars are glossed, so this will be my first satin finish.
Every guitar player should have one of these in their arsenal, fer sure!, a little set up, a little love, and these basses will work fine. I had a black sqire bass for years someone gave me. A bass player put some kind of fender pickup in it. It was a good working bass. Eventually stolen, like alot of gear in the past.😢. We are living in a time of cheap saturation of the guitar market. Some imports are crazy good for cheap. See where it all lands in a decade,, should be interesting.
Great mod platform,throw a set of good pickups in this light weight, and you can save a ton of money,decals and sandpaper can turn this into what appears to be the real deal, which it actually is.

Good review, it is a shame that you have to explain about Squier being owned by Fender. Squier makes some pretty good basses, I own about 4. Of course, it will be entertaining to see how many negative comments you get and be good for the next live stream. Well done video.!

Sounds great. It seems like a great first bass or practice bass & the Precision sound usually sits great in any mix.
Just a trick I'll share with pick players out there... Take a normal hard Fender guitar pick and put one layer of thick or two layers of thin duct tape half way up, fold and trim and walla... You will get a finger sound on the tip and flip it around for the hard pick sound :)
I bought a Glarry Jbass about 4 or 4 years ago. Ive used it on all of my recordings. It doesnt have to be a top notch instrument that costs thousands to make a good bass sound..... i will be looking into this one.
I have a Glarry Jazz and an acoustic and totally agree with ya bro. I replaced the nuts with bone and they sound as good as my Fender American Jazz bass believe it or not,
Play this one and the most expensive P bass available and in a blind test I bet no one would be able to tell you which is which. ;-)

I need a cheap Jazz bass for recording at home. Had to sell my last one off during the pandemic along with 30 or 40 guitars, and I finally realized I wasn't playing any more because I need a bass. Since I retired from playing live I don't need anything over 150 bucks, and these cheap Squires are great basses.
You could look at the Classic Vibe series. Not super cheap but nice.
How about a Kramer flying v split aluminum next bass. I have one.

I started out of the bass player 440 some years ago now switch to guitar trust me that's an awesome Bass compared to the one about at my local music store for about two to three hundred dollars it was a k Bass is a piece of garbage that's a good base

I owned the first generation Squier P bass in about 2003. The bridge was not grounded and it hummed like crazy. I got my money back from sam ashe.
I thought you were using a bass program on the computer. 😂Those feet ends might not be so bad once it aclimates and a bit of humidity back into it. 🤷

Owning a Bass is a sign of financial stability to a Guitarist. My Bass has not seen the Pawn Shop in almost a year.
(My problem with these real inexpensive instruments is the environment that the Labour Force may be enduring).
Say what you , the bass literally says "Squier by Fender " therefore it's a Fender Pbass for the Squier line . BS never said it was purely a Fender. So, to quote Sargeant Hulka in Stripes "lighten up Francis "
