I visited this plant as a kid when it was still running. It was hot, smelly and noisy. Many workers were injured while working here, some terribly. The people filming this would be exposed to friable asbestos fibers which will be everywhere, as well as hydrocarbon gases.
With all the green water, that place is made for photography! I've got a video on my channel of a visit a few years ago. Watching this inspires me to dust off all the other video I shot there and re-edit it.
I was just reading about the residents talking about puki fire which is close to this building I'm on Auckland didn't realise something like this be there good coverage looks like tricky location Do u know what contamination was? chers
Hey thank you so much! I'm not entirely sure what the contamination is but it may be cyanide or something of the likes. The area is now is now rated the country's seventh-worst toxic site!
Lol, Greenies, this was closed in the 90s so nothing to do with Greenies..and anyway, closed cause it's highly toxic and people getting injured, why keep it open?
aww boohoo so what? its left to rot un used un wanted and there just looking around at least its getting something good out of the area by them being interested.not like they are prowling around peoples homes or businesses and stealing shit
Such a cool place.
Thanks for posting

I’m sure it wouldn’t have been the cleanest of places in it’s day.

Thanks Lucy!
My father worked there for a good while until it was shut down...
