PRO TIP: When using construction adhesive lay down a bead of circles instead of lines, it creates a vacuum and helps the panel stick to the wall better.
Thanks for the tip!
Hi, can I ask how to secure to concrete walls? A nailer won’t work, I have adhesive will this do, it’s only going in a cupboard to make walls good.
Lisa Porteous there are concrete adhesives that you can get at the hardware store. Just find one that can be used with wood. There are also concrete anchors you can use, but I don’t think I would with this type of project.
@@lisaporteous3689
I would use screws. So screw the large sheets to the wall and then cover the screws with trim or frame.
The real why I would use screws is they are strong and they do not require setting time like an adhesive. And then if I wanted to I could put shelves on the wall easily.
I would use sheets of plywood instead of mdf If I was needing selves/cabinets.
@@lisaporteous3689 that should work, but make sure to have some boards to brace to the opposite wall to hold your pieces up against the wall while the adhesive dries. You could also use adhesive which has directions to cut the piece, apply adhesive to the back, then pull it back off the wall and let it stand open for a couple of minutes, then put it back up; it is supposed to stick better then.
I search and viewed different techniques and have found yours to be FABULOUS, SKILLFUL, COMPETENT AND PROFESSIONAL. Beautiful job and effort. "Pride in your work"! Love it...Love it...Love it!!
This looks great! I never thought about replacing the baseboard with a 1 by….really smart! I like the color too
Never taped before caulking an end seam before. Great tip and great project. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Terrific!! I've been researching for weeks on how to do this for my bedroom & yours is THE BEST tutorial. Thank You!
Great Job you make it look so easy...still reeling from 'that Closet' just crazy fabulous !!! keep the diy's coming!
Love it! Haha thank you for watching😊
I learn something new every time I do molding. I’ve also learned how to move an outlet which makes planning and the overall look so much better. That looks nice!
Hey Bradley, can you please share how to move an outlet? Electrical wires are generally stapled to the studs in the frame stage and then covered by drywall. I can't think of how a person could go about moving the plug from one stud to another without opening up the wall. Thanks
Mark P there is usually some slack and you don’t have to move it much. Cut a new hole and put a remodeling box in the wall. Use the cut piece of drywall to seal the old hole. Thing is that you have to use your existing wiring without splicing. That would make it a no no. Check out finish carpentry TV’s channel.
Bradley Beames thank you Bradley. I had no idea that electricians leave a little slack in the wires. Sounds like there may be enough slack to move the box from one stud to the other but within the same bay? It’s been a few years since I walked a house in the frame stage.
I was thinking of doing exactly this but wasn't sure how it would look. Great video, I'm definitely moving forward with my new project.
This is a good video
* clear, concise
* attention to quality
* just the right amount of narration
I'm going to follow your approach starting today.
I like that you include you actually doing most all of the steps. My wife is an interior designer by trade and actually had a similar taste in style.
Just a thought if you ever have bad results from a big box store's panel saw or it is down. Kreg makes a very handy tool, Rip Cut, that is pretty in expensive ($40?). I have been very pleased with the results. The WWMM channel had suggested bringing a cordless circular saw to get plywood to fit into your vehicle, which I think you had in a video - mine is corded.
Keep up the good work!
Great suggestion I will keep that in mind. Thank you!!
Geezus, that's amazing work! Watching this in 2022 for ideas and ways to go about making my wife happy without boring wall for our future kid!
Fantastic! You definitely have some great skills. About that outlet... super easy to move over and since you're also using hard board to cover the wall that just makes fixing the patch even easier.
That little stool is genius, no idea how I havnt thought of that when painting by now...!
Thank you for this video! We have textured walls and couldn’t figure what to put on the walls to make it look smooth and more professional. So glad I came across this video ☺️ New subscriber 💕
I have textured walls as well. I'd love to see how yours turned out!
37 weeks prego with baby #5! You make this project look so easy I'm heading straight upstairs to measure a wall in the baby's room and then to waddle around Home Depot!
Turned out beautiful! Great job!!!!
Stephanie you rock! thank you for all this content. You helped me figure out stuff on my DIY kitchen remodel! HappyHolidays !

We are doing this in our long hallway. super excited!
Great video! Looked at several others and they were not as detailed as you were. You made it look doable
Great comments on the details! Thanks for a great step by step video.
Wow this looks amazing. Me and my wife were wanting something like this. Your video sold us for sure. Thank you, new subscriber here.
Excellent work Stefani! You're giving me a lot of good ideas for home projects. The wife will be happy to say the least. Thank you, sub'd.
I love the look. You made it look so easy to make. Nice job!
Thank you😊
This project looks awesome great job definitely something I could do plus love love the music good call.
Awesome job!!!!
I just subscribe to your channel,
I’m very impressed with your key to detail.
Excellent video! Helpful tip, you could prime the hard board before installation, or even just before the strips go on. It will save maybe a little time but you won’t have to work around the boards. This sure looks good!
Thanks for the tip and thank you for watching!
Beautiful!
Thank you for sharing honey!

Great job! This was a big help.
I. Am. Obsessed. With. This. It turned out SO WELL!!!!!
Start off with small projects to get a feel for it and they will be less daunting and you can do more of them.
The worse you can do is get something wrong and just repeat if need be.
Thank you for sharing! Looks amazing 😮

Looks great. I may try this idea in my home. I have a carpenters tip for joining two boards together. When you need to join two boards together as you did for the top boards you used a but joint. It is better to cut those boards at a 45 degrees. That is not 45 degrees like a picture frame but 45 degrees like you would for joining two baseboards in a corner. The 45 degree overlap will hide any lines from showing later when the wood shrinks a tiny bit. This is also good for crown molding as those boards will shrink and make the line very visible.
Very good tip, thank you! I will try that on my next project.
Scarf joint 👍
You make me brave enough to do this !
Love it!!!!
Cute as hell and good with the hands. Good ones are still out there fellas.
This is definitely not my type of video, but I really enjoyed it. I got so sucked in watching it all come together! I think I was just so shocked that you were able to do everything by yourself! I can’t even nail something into the wall by myself! So cool to see a woman getting that shit done
Thanks so much for watching! Love to hear that
Nice. Well done. Especially the backboard and seam spacing.
Consider that the baseboard is also part of the wood work.
Maybe match the old or replace it all. Think about using the same color on all the wood work in the room.
This would give you a professional original look that doesn’t look like an afterthought.
Nice work
Hey Stefani 👋🏽 love your video. What sheen finish did you select for your paint?
Looks Great! I would have primed the hardboard before I put up the vertical and horizontal boards
really, really nice! Here is a painting tip..after you apply your first coat of primer apply a light sand with a super fine sandpaper (do this twice for best results) and then apply the paint. Apply a light sand again and then apply the final coat of paint. It will look as if it was professionally sprayed.
I would use the wall as a headboard and put the bed against it. It would look beautiful and it's too pretty to be covered up. It looks nice with boards in between as well. Great job.
You can also make small style wall headboards on a wall it just requires less materials that in the video.
I want to confess something… I been using your videos as background noise and fall sleep. Your voice the music and your speedy gonzalez moves just knock me out. I do love your videos..
Love your wall! My husband and I are going to try this in a couple of weeks! I'm going through your list and the link for the baseboard trim isn't working. Is there something else that you would recommend? Thank you!
Love your projects. Your work is well executed and with the use of everyday tools.
With some electrical know how the electrical outlet could be moved to center panel. Good job
YOu're awesome. Thank you!
very detailed tutorial
I suggest to paint the outlet plate.
That's a good idea but nobody will see the outlet with a nightstand in front of it.
Another great project Stefani! Looks like something I could tackle. Thanks for posting
Thank you so much for watching!!
Great idea thank you for sharing madam😄👍
LOVE THIS!!!! Do you have to place vertical boards on the wall studs??

Beautiful work! Could I ask you where you bought your area rug that you show at the beginning of the video? @~0:12
All the Projects are in the Descstripsion!!!!
Thanks for posting this video, super helpful. What color is the rest of the room? I think they go together really well and may possibly use the same. Thanks!
Looks great! I want to do something like that in our bedroom but not sure if it’s going to go behind the bed or not. Can you do an accent wall without it being behind the bed or is that a no-no?
Such an outstanding project! Love your smooth and soothing voice. Just like the background music. 👍😊
Looks great! I so want to do this to a wall in my laundry room. Thanks for sharing! Blessings!
Looks soo amazing, im from the Philippines.. your such an inspiration to me, thank you for sharing your craft 👍👍

Love this so much!
You should put your damp rag on a Swiffer, it'll make wiping everything down so much easier and less back breaking! Though maybe it would have been more difficult with all of the edges. Just a thought!
Good idea, thank you!

This came out so pretty. Love your channel. Quick question - is it important for the Brad nails that hold the verticals to go into studs or just into the drywall is good enough?
My understanding is that you can nail into just the dry wall since the brad is there just to hold the board until the adhesive dries/cures.
Thanks for video
Thank you for watching!
looks great! what was the depth of your uppper ledge board again? i couldnt find where you said how deep that ledge was. thanks!
It is the same board as the vertical battens, 3" wide.
Superb 👌
Would this brown board that u used to cover the textured wall work in a bathroom?( since bathrooms have high humidity)
It looks like a great alternative
Very nice work, I subsribed!
Thank you! 🤗
Nice! I give it an A-, would have been an A+ if you had moved that outlet. I like your videos. your closet video was awesome! Makes me want to make take on so many projects. I just need more $$$$
Thank you!!
Why did she need to move the outlet?
@@kathyusa-iowa5137 moving the outlet would have left a cleaner look by not needing to notch the board. Because Stefani was covering the wall with the panels anyways she could have done it and not worried about patching the hole from moving the outlet. It's a minor detail that a lot of people don't do but can make a huge difference when your installing paneling like that. Moving an outlet though is something that many people choose to not do due to fear of electrical shock.
@@kathyusa-iowa5137 if that outlet was moved 3 inches to the right, she wouldnt have had to notch the wood like that, and you get a more uniform look. just a nit pick, not a deal breaker.
@@jefemuga416 oh, I see what you're saying, thx for clarifying 👍
Cool!
You love that foot stool 🤣😎
I do! I’m glad you noticed 😂😅

Are you nailing through to the studs or just anywhere in the drywall? Will it hold if just nailing to drywall?
I nailed them in just anywhere in the drywall! When nailing in the boards, I angled my brad nailer up and down instead of going straight in so that it secures the boards nice and tight!
normally you'd always want to go into the studs, but she added glue as well so it's fine in this application. Crown and base always nail into studs
Do you have a copy of you sketch (measurements) for this? Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas
A "wood" back panel is smoother and so much more attractive than drywall, & not as subject to damage.
I noticed picking the nail gun up with your toe while holding the board to the wall. That's real skill!
Glad you noticed! Haha thank you for watching!
Ace job and really nicely walked through. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Rob 👍🏼🏴
aexyy
I work as a painter and sometimes there is renovation to do before painting. If you are nailing your panels, the liquid glue is like killing a fly
with a hammer. Imagine you change your idea in a year or so, how much work will be needed to take the panels off the wall.
What would you recommend instead?
@@manuelcastillo5999 I thought she was adding the liquid glue because these panels would support something (shelves, etc).
If not I would have just nailed the panels to the wall. Or maybe just add a line of glue to the top part (behind) instead of everywhere
behind the panels.
Great job. I’ve done this finish several times and it turns out great. Thanks for sharing

Hi was wondering, when you tape the corner and then put the caulk down, do you take the tape off when it's still wet or dry?
Great video Stefani! Gotta admit that it was hard for me to concentrate on the important stuff while YOU were doing the work : - }. Would it have been possible to shift the battens, ever so slightly, to cover the board seams and 'miss' that outlet cover? I only ask cause 'it' being half in a batten would make it hard for me to sleep in that room.
