Some decently rare footage hearing the infamous C&TS Reading 6 chime before it started squealing like crazy. Also at 52:42 you get to see an incredibly rare shot of 487 without a snow plow
That IS incredibly rare. I remember back when I watched the Narrow Gauge Rails Still Shine program I saw 487 also without the pilot plow there and I’m seriously curious why it’s lacking it there.
@@ZephGoldenI can be very wrong here since I don’t work on steam nor familiar with rules for steam back in the 80s. But 487 was on flue extension of something like that and they needed easier access into the boiler, I think she was reflued in the late 80s and they put the plow on after that but then again I’m no where near an expert on those things.
@@Aidan_Rattlehead nah that’s fair lmao. I was just basing my guesswork off a DVD from the late 80’s I watched as a child a lot. It being taken off for flu work makes a lot more sense than it being taken off just cause. I’ve always preferred the look of K-36’s without the plow tbh, looks less cluttered; although I understand the practical application.
