[cont.] The Liquids have been teetering in all sorts of directions ever since their debut demo dropped back in early 2015. The subsequent “Brandon’s In Jail” cassette gravitated to wholesome rock-like tones, while “Blindin’ Flash” was a cathartic collection of blisteringly-fast rock ‘n’ roll bangers. Not to mention their “Live At Mat’s House” tape, which opened with a new song that had a tangible hardcore intensity (that unfortunately doesn’t make a return in this EP as I would’ve expected). This time around, it seems that the Liquids is a bit more subdued than before, save for “Malignant Tumor”, which is arguably the most confrontational-sounding track found on this 7”. Otherwise, I think it’s pretty dreamy, even providing saccharine songs like “Going Down The Tubes” and “Already Dead” that are perfect for dozing off to, while simultaneously thinking about pretty girls you wanna kiss and dying comfortably in your sleep. Technically speaking, you may only be hearing two new songs here, as both “Malignant Humor” and “Going Down The Tubes” were teased on the Liquids’ Bandcamp page for weeks, and “Hurt My Feelin” and “Know Nothing” were once featured in a now-deleted video on Mat’s channel, which only leaves “Take The Bait” and “Already Dead” (my personal favorite track) to be experienced for the first time-assuming that you’re a big-stupid-dork for the Liquids like I am. Regardless, everyone obviously needs to listen to this, it’s fucking amazing. Would it be bold of me to say that it was definitely worth the relatively-short two month-ish wait?
