This is such a great video....I loved your research. It just so happens I called Procian Dye this week and I asked the lady on the phone what dye to use for a poly cotton blend, she told me I would have to dye it twice using both dyes MX and acid. Thanks for making this video

Very helpful video. Thank you. I have never added the soda ash to the dye bath. I use the soda ash to pretreat the fibre and I've had some rather vibrant results. However, I wasn't using it for millinery but for a jewellery piece.
I painted the dye onto the prepared fabric that I had gathered into pleats and tied around a vase I bought for the purpose. I wanted the dyes I prepared to both stand alone and in selected parts to gently blend with others on the damp fabric. I must admit, painting the dye onto the fabric was rather fun. Once it was dried, I sewed it onto a backing with D rings either side. I was able to choose all kinds of things to create the neck ribbom and fastenings. I was quite pleased with the result and am thinking about other pieces I can make using the same technique.
I hope that made sense. 😊

This was an amazing video! It’s weirdly exactly what I need because I ordered a plain straw hat I want to dye red. Thanks so much. And I love your style!

Hello! Thank you for your lovely comment - I really like matching my nails to my outfits 😊 Yes - starting millinery is dangerous! Once you start you won't be able to stop 🤣

Hello, Thank you so much! I am sorry you had that experience in a shop - this is exactly why I wanted to make this video. I couldn't find much information on using Procion MX dyes, so I thought it best I experiment and film it for everyone 😊

Hi. Thank you so much for this video. I was looking for dyes to re-dye a faded Turquoise hat. I wanted to know what would be the best method to dye the hat. Do I submerge only the top and then dab the brim with a cloth or use a brush? I never did this before. Not sure about "rinsing" the hat either as I have taped the grosgrain so that it would not be effected. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks once again for this experiment. I will have to play around with the colors to get the right Turquoise.
