    Hey Gary, Just want to thank you for putting these videos out there. I'm working up steam to rebuild my zf6hp21, oil filter blockage caused some damage, I think the rollerbearing in the Oil pump assembly let go. only one way to find out!

    Hi Gary, I really appreciate your videos. I’m about to overhaul a 6HP26 in Australia and was going to ask if you think Sonnax bushings are ok to use ? I can probably get the Omega machine bushings if you think they are better. Thank you

    Hi Gary thanks for another couple of great and informative videos, I'm just replacing the bushings on my 6hp26X(06 E53 X5 diesel) I have removed the rear stator bushing and come to fit the new one and checked it on the drum shaft and it seems rather loose, I've checked/measured the shaft and it's not worn and no low spots. I've fitted the bush to see if once fitted it would snug up and take out some of the play but it does seem to wiggle alot to say it's also a fluid pressure seal? I know some kits have two sizes of stator bushing but the difference in sizes is significant so you can't mix them up. I've ordered a different make of bushing kit so I'll see if it's perhaps a poorly machined bushing?
    What kind of fit and I looking for between the bushing and drum shaft, noticeable play or a snuggish fit? Thanks again for your videos and sharing some of your vast knowledge.

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Really should be no play but the drum has to turn free. What bushings did you get?

      @@GaryFerraro it's a set I bought from eBay which claimed to be OEM replacement, I suspect on reflection that they're possibly a Chinese copy unfortunately 🙄 I've ordered another set from a reputable transmission supply company over here in the UK which is coming in later today so I'll see how they fit, hopefully alot better as there's definitely some play there at the moment 😔 thanks for your reply and help.

    Hi Gary, so I completely overhauled my Zf6hp 26 auto with new Torque converter, new bushings, new friction plates, new solinoids, rebuilt the valve body with Sonax kit and reset all the adaptions etc..... I'm still getting the 1-2 gear clunk and 2 down to 1st gear Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh any ideas sir? Thank you

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before you do anything reset adapts again but make sure no codes are present in trans ad engine or adapts may not wor. Also, these transmissions adapt when trans temp is 130F or above

    Hi Gary, my zf6hp26 after driving for long ride then coming to a stop. I get a slight bump motion (jerk action), I suspect is the bushings. How long do I have before the problem gets worse ? Trying to financially prepare. Thanks for your advice and videos.)

    Hi Gary, thank you for the videos. They are a great help. I am in the process of rebuilding a 6HP28 unit. I wanted to ask your opinion on what to do with torque converter and friction discs. My transmission was losing 2 liters of fluid every 8 months or so. The TC seemed fine, no noises. Is it absolutely necessary to have the TC rebuilt? Also is it a good idea to replace all friction discs while it all apart?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In My opinion yes, it should be done. What was leaking on the transmission that you had to add fluid

    • @TheDzsergey
      @TheDzsergey หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GaryFerraro Thanks for replying. Either input shaft seal or the large O-ring around the pump. It appeared to only leak while driving because there was never any transmission fluid where the car was parked. So you are saying to do the TC and the frictions or just the TC. I haven’t dug into the clutch packs yet but A and E don’t have any discoloration on the drums.

    • @TheDzsergey
      @TheDzsergey หลายเดือนก่อน

      There was some transmission fluid at the bottom of the bell housing where that access hole is and on the wiring harness under it.

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheDzsergey that is a common leak by the harness

    Hello Gary. at 6:42 the smaller drum spins freely. In my installation its very stiff. Does it have to be that free or will it correct it self when driven?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should spin free, if tight, there is a chance the bushing will come out of place, try to lighty tap on the smaller drum to try to seat it in place. ary

      Gary Ferraro Thanks Gary. And yes, I noticed it’s still fully bronze coated and looks as good as my new ones, so I was leaning towards just leaving it.
