- 2 days gathering firewood at my little off grid log cabin My very 1st tree I cut down early in the morning gave give me a hard time you would call it a dangerous tree once I cut the dangerous tree up and got passed It things went a lot better the rest of my time At the cabin
Cutting down the tree that is supporting the one you hung up is not a good practice. Loggers call them Wido makers. Very dangerous practice. Your better off leaving it and let the wind take it down as some fire wood is not worth injury or possibly death. Stay safe!!!

Obviously this man knows what’s safe and what’s not he built a cabin by himself out of cutting down logs so leave him alone and let him enjoy his cabin !!!
I'm 71 years old, and still love cutting and splitting firewood. Great exercise and good for the soul. Your videos are fun to watch.

That's some dodgy chainsawing, glad you survived. Suggest you invest in a Maasdam rope puller and a few round slings.
glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't have all the toys...I use a wagon & small sled like yourself...but w/the winter that's coming, not sure if I can do it - could use heated gloves!
Great video. If you get a tire for your splitting log and attach it to the top when you split your logs the tire will hold your splits in place. saves you from picking up after each chop. Huge time/back saver.

Im 49 and plan on retiring to Alaska from the lower 48 when I turn 60. I enjoy just watching what you are doing just to get an idea of what someone goes through while out in this environment.
That was my dream to move to Alaska and build a little cabin in the woods but I settled for building a cabin in the woods in Michigan best of luck to you in Alaska

@@cabinlife4551 yeah I have a tractor with a backhoe attachment so I’m getting a fair amount of ground work done and collecting building material such as rock and wood. I’m hoping to get the building process started this year.
