As a fellow songwriter, I can understand this, but it’s nearly impossible to explain to a layman just how difficult it is to do what Jesse is doing: a song a day, sometimes more than one, all of them lyrically dense and thought provoking; and all of them musically familiar enough to be instantly relatable while also being structurally complex and dense enough to boggle the mind of anyone brave enough to try and chart them out. I couldn’t be happier for him and can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
Not a fellow songwriter, but I do understand how difficult it is to do what Jesse is doing literally on a daily basis. Writing both music and lyrics, then adding "the eyebrows" to it all, Jesse is one-of-a-kind. And I just love his guitars!
@@joecallahan3692 been following jesse for about a year and it's been surreal to witness in real time how fast he cranks out good song after good song ... truly amazing 👏
@joecallahan3692 Also, most of the songs are so topical and current that we know most of them he's written from scratch now, not pulling things from older songs he's been working on.
Gloves, Jesse. Cut the finger tips out. Notice how he hasn’t played anything but rough strumming outside in January. My hands hurt just watching. Dedication.
Jesse says in one minute everything that needs to be said ... even though some don't want to listen. Another great observational piece by Jesse ... and terrific music and performance.
You are a very gifted young man. I haven’t seen grass roots creativity like yours since my childhood back in Boulder Colorado back in the 70’s. You have a rare gift … wisdom, insight, creativity and you know how to express it. A true artist.
I need a "love" button, because a like button just doesn't suffice to describe the depth, Soul and musical craftsmanship Jesse is putting into these songs!!! ✌️🙏🎸
PREACH. I loathe how these companies used a loophole designed for office pool "yeah, I'll throw a ten in for fun, fill out my card for me & lemme know who I'm cheering for" and turned it into hell.
Genius as usual... and damn it if you aren't right in the money about how horrible gambling addiction is and how it's just looked at as ok or normal or even not a problem... gambling addiction is definitely just a bad as drug addiction. Preach on Jesse, my man! You're fighting a good fight!
you are da MAN! We had Woody, and Pete, and some Dylan, and a bit of John Prine but you are really touching hearts minds and souls with your gifts. Please take care of yourself and stay well.... we need a voice like yours these days,
Laypeople who have been around for more than a few decades (like me) do completely understand how amazing it is for someone to share day thougts in such a lyrical/mysical way. I don't even agree with a lot of what he says but by golly I am a fan!
Yeah let's make the most deadly addiction a prominent part of every sports network and ensure they spend as much as possible in a short time frame That's freedom baby 🦅🇺🇸
Man that was was on point! I know a good number of people that watch the games with me, that now are watching their bets on their phones instead of the games in front of em... Im against internet/mobile gambling my take is if you can't afford to take time off and go to Las Vegas or whatever your choice destination may be , than you can't afford to gamble your money i know a lot of people don't agree but that's my take
What’s crazy is that….people directly tied to the sports leagues own all the sports betting companies. Jerry Jones and Robert Craft are bold enough to put their names directly on it and suspect the other owners are in on it too, but they just do it through investment firms. This makes a weird situation where the games don’t have to be rigged….the betting lines can be impacted by the refs calling the game differently on just one player.
The Bob Dylan of the 21st century. It'd be great to give you recognition for your talent and spread your music to more ears by buying it. I bet you've got a song about greed in the record industry in there somewhere as well.
I remember when online betting took off, was the same time my dad ended up back in debt, and soon after back in the bars after not drinking for 5 years. *Guess he didn't read the disclaimer.
I ‘ve just recognized‼️ Jesse Welles protests in tunes, George Carlin and Josh Johnson protest with their comedy‼️. Love this guy & his fabulous vibe❤❤❤❤❤❤❤‼️
You are the man Jesse Wells!!! Just throw down and run non stop brother!!! You caint be getting much sleep but then again you may be writing them IN your sleep!!! lo. I havent heard a bad one yet brother , and for that I tip my hat to ya. You are definately a very gifted artist my friend , and all that I've heard you only show the true extent of that gift. You beat an extremely vicious guitar , and I probably dig that as much or at least equal too all the rest you do in your songs....although that would be tight pressed to win out over the lyrical arrangements you put down. Damn guy!!! how much better you gonna get!!!! You've already proven that their is not a single subject on this earth that you caint write about!!! I hope your getting treated as you should be.....and if not (and your probably not) I dont know what to tell ya man......but I sure hope your pissing them off.....and I hope to see you just pouring it on in the future!! Thanks always brother , your work continually speaks for itself.....and I dig it!!! Carry on , ron
Interesting that we are having this conversation in South Africa at the moment. Absolutely covered in sports betting everywhere and people are starting to ask if it is good for us (we know it isnt)
Sometimes knowing what someone means is more important than them having to say it. I think the end of this video was perfectly navigating the current state of affairs of what’s allowed to be said or not, while at the same time leaving a lasting impact on the listener. BRAVO again for the modern Bob Dylan.
Hey Jesse! I just discovered your channel and love your messages and your music! I get you! Can you write a song about the topic of missing people and indigenous women disappearing. (I've been following an indigenous family's heartbreaking story 💔 of their 30 year old daughter who went missing in October 2024. I feel deeply for their loss.) Much love ❤
I love your idea though I wonder how much this idea is discussed in wider circles. I'm fighting the fossil fuel industry in northern Minnesota and there is a strong correlation between extractive industry and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives/Women. Though I feel like I only know about it because I'm living in this region of Indian country AND focusing on fighting extraction. 🤷 That said, I'm pretty sure Jesse can write about just about anything and make it hit to the gut. 💯
Ĥe has no fear, no filter, and hes smart enough to press RECORD when the ideas come. He is truly unique and disciplined, and at the same time reminds me of my nieghbor. Brutally honest and laying it out. Well done. MLAR friday
Seriously, I cut cable in about 2016, started watching football again a couple years ago and holy shit I feel like such a sleezeball when these commercials come on. I can only think about the people struggling and how carelessly the mainstream has adopted advertising to make a buck. I guess we are at the point where a corporation like the NFL can publicly prey upon its fans and its just accepted.
What a system; Corporate greed plus low wages and the innate need to gather materials, we piss away the treasury because we never took the time to understand statistics in high school.
That's why capitalism isn't the answer. Good in principle but with mankind's greed it will never work. Communism with maybe the foundations of American freedom... But even then need a just government in order for that to work.
The crazy part about sports betting is when you realize that since the different sites get to charge a fee for placing the bet itself you're already at a loss the moment you place your first bet, roughly 48% chance of breaking even VS. 52% chance of losing money from the jump. And that's before people get into parlays...don't even get me started how stacked the odds are against us in those algorithms 🤮
I an reminded of the time that the international physicist conference was held in Las Vegas, and the newspaper headline was “physicist conference in town, lowest casino take ever” and the international physicist conference was asked to never hold an event in Las Vegas ever again. Now it wasn’t that the physicists were taking the casinos for a ride, they just knew the odds and weren’t playing at all. So if some of the smartest guys on the planet go to Vegas and decide not to gamble, I think I’ll follow their example.
I was there for a few days for work one time. We stayed in the aging Flamingo. I put a quarter in an airport slot machine on my way out, just so I could say I did. Government lotteries are bad, too.

There is no "rest". of the song. That's the point. Game Over. Gambling addiction suicide % is higher than all other addictions COMBINED.

Heard “War Isn’t Murder” on WUMB (Boston, MA) this morning. 👍🏻👍🏻
These lyrics are really tight, succinct but still poetic. The ending is huge.
Wow brutal ending. Jesse might be my new favourite song writer.
“20 percent attempt”, is a true statistic. And a significant number of them succeed.
Keep shining that light Jesse.
Jesse's music always hits like a bucket of cold water to the face. I love it.
Jessie out here giving folks free education better than our so called journalism these days
Welles spitting truth after truth in amazing catchy Dylan-esque tunes.
PREACH. I loathe how these companies used a loophole designed for office pool "yeah, I'll throw a ten in for fun, fill out my card for me & lemme know who I'm cheering for" and turned it into hell.
Just a man and his guitar AMAZING Thank you Jesse!!
Keeping the lyrics of our time coming. We are all part of your songs.
at least with drugs, you're physically limited on how much money goes up in smoke in one weekend.
with gambling, the sky's the limit.
Genius as usual... and damn it if you aren't right in the money about how horrible gambling addiction is and how it's just looked at as ok or normal or even not a problem... gambling addiction is definitely just a bad as drug addiction. Preach on Jesse, my man! You're fighting a good fight!
Dude, cranking these tunes out!! Great style and words man
damn, what a way to end a song. brutal and brilliant
you are da MAN! We had Woody, and Pete, and some Dylan, and a bit of John Prine but you are really touching hearts minds and souls with your gifts. Please take care of yourself and stay well.... we need a voice like yours these days,
i very much dislike these types of comments
It's a crooked world. Jesse is preach-in truth!
Another really spot on song! Love to see these well crafted lyrics and I love the choice for the more rock sound in the instrumental

Man, if you're reading this; you ought to make a movie soundtrack with your songs. They're that good
Great song. Poignant message.
Amazing! I sincerely hope these songs are spreading far and wide.
You just keep putting new lyrics like a boss! Here in brazil its the same now. Sports betting is big, government regulated, family breaking vice.
Hey this really reminds me of Jesse Welles.
Love you man.

That can't be right. What about all the winners? I think your math is off.
I don’t do gamble but this is MF damn straight truth…thanks.

You are unstoppable my friend! Keep rocking our world! We need your art so bad right now!

A song about the state preying upon its people.

I like the way jesse doesnt answer the chat, he lets his music do the talkin.
No time for discussions he's already recording the next banger
