In his movie he claimed, that he smoked dope in his room as a teenager all the time. Later when Artie talked about drugs, suddenly he was the expert on taking LSD, downers and what not. In this clip he was fascinated, when someone rolled an ordinary joint, like a grandmother who started to let loose in her golden years. I don't get people who have to brag and lie, that they have done drugs just to "fit in". He was a middle aged at this point.
Howard goes into a lot more detail about his supposed college drug experiences in his second book Miss America, but a lot of them reek of BS. He tells a whole elaborate story about accidentally taking an entire four quarter hit of acid and going through an insane trip, which he believes was the trigger for him developing OCD later in life. He's a whiny yenta.
