Hi Dale, Thanks for great information. May I know roughly how much money one can make by having say 10 - 50 kindle books published after a year? I'd like to start investing on doing the same thing.
Hello! I really enjoy watching your videos. I was wondering which specific video would talk about some guidance and cost for publishing children's picture books?
Truly eye opening, thanks for the absolute transparency dale, appreciate it! I'm not there yet but can easily see the churn and snowball effect once one gets a regular income. It's peanuts if you earn big, but for new starters like me I'll have to work on a few of these things myself ;)
Exactly! I had one person immediately troll my video when it came out claiming I was guiding authors into bankruptcy. I added towards the end that if you can't afford some of these services, then do it yourself or find an alternative. I just wanted to show a basic overview of the publishing process at a smaller scale model.
@@DaleLRoberts there's no free lunch in this world. You pay cash to outsource or you pay time (aka life) and do things in house. No one is forcing anyone to outsource a single thing, or spend any money. Silly troll!
I agree, but for first timers who don't have any other option, reading it out loud can be helpful. That won't catch content issues, but can help ferret out those pesky grammar, repetition, word choice and other small errors. If you have to, record while you read and then play it back to see whether it flows.
YT keeps crossing off the name of the website--but you know the one that charges 49.00 to set up a pring book--they announced this morning they are waiving all fees!! I was on last night uploading my book and today the entire site is different :)
You mean IngramSpark? Yes, it seems to be a temporary fix. But, if you use INGRAMSPARK2020, then IngramSpark waives the upload fees. It's good till May 31. I'd highly recommend getting an ALLi membership, because then all upload fees are waived altogether. Did you see my interview with US ALLi ambassador, Michael La Ronn? th-cam.com/video/yVkMfcN8-No/w-d-xo.html Thanks so much for the kind words and support, Cherylyn!
Hi I watched your video here and really liked it. You gave me the information and encouragement I needed to take the plunge. I have followed your advice in this video, but went big spender and set my limit to $2 a day, campaign will run till June. Thank you for this valuable video, the process is very inscrutable.
I hired a guy off Fiverr to ghost write a novella. He had a ton of recommendations and great reviews. What he sent back was rubbish and I had to re-write it all myself. Lost a couple of hundred bucks. Beware hiring ghost writers to save time - it can be a trap
As I shared in the original video (see at th-cam.com/video/RIiiMlGo-5E/w-d-xo.html), always take a writer for a test drive. Never go all in on a ghostwriter without knowing fully what they can do and are capable of producing. Not all ghostwriters are bad. By the way, thanks for being a subscriber for the past 7 months. I appreciate the support.
@@DaleLRoberts How can I pick the right editors, proofreaders, and book formatters for my Fiverr project? Can you let me know if Fiverr approved of everyone there? Or can you suggest someone to me for a one-stop shop service? or a total of three services? I'd appreciate it.
@@DaleLRoberts you were mentioning the editing and proofreading sites, research sites, book covering edits etc on this video. I was wondering which ones do you actually need to buy for a kids ebook? I have the book cover and editing covered, I just didn’t know what is required since a kids book is not long and it’s different from a regular book
Well, because it depends on a lot of variables. It depends on the length of your book, what paper you choose, whether it's color or just black and white, and then the platform you're using. The cost of printing is included in the price of the book. Most platforms are going to set a minimum price for your book based on the variables above to cover the printing cost. There's no set such-and-such price per page for printing. From experience, I can tell you that a book from 50 to 150-ish pages in black and white on white or cream paper is less than $5 to print.
@@inCARSONate if it has even on page of color, it’s considered a full color book. KDP is working on a cheaper full color option that blends the best of both worlds.
@@inCARSONate KDP is Kindle Direct Publishing (Amazon). And I don’t know when standard color printing will be available. You can still do color with black and white, but it’s rather costly. Hi 👋 Dale, great and informative video. I always watch your videos and listen to you on Podcast. I rarely respond, but I felt the need to this time. I purchased Publisher Rocket weeks ago. It is a valuable resource. I'm still learning the in and outs. For the recommended resources under Fiverr, do you have someone you recommend for romance writing. I've been trying to self publish for a minute, however still continue to struggle with the process, not to mention there's so much different views when it comes to self publishing
@@DaleLRoberts Your welcome! I need help with covers and editing.I've looked into some pre-made book covers, however I'm not sure if that's the route I should take.

I got to add one was about selling products in Australia on Amazon and the other was about self published authors making a lot of money... Definitely being stalked considering this is the first time I’ve used my new Google account...
I was just making a joke because usually I use a different account while doing all my author things but I accidentally used this account but it still recommended me author and Amazon ads and I’m kind of scared now that I’m being stalked by Siri lol
I don't understand why someone would spend probably ten hours minimum ghostwriting a book for $250. That's not a lot of money, and they won't get royalties for their work. It doesn't make sense.

Yes, I've had a few flaky sellers, but they're outnumbered by the people who are on-time or ahead of schedule. Thankfully, I had ZERO issues with my sellers this time.
Kevin Maguire I’ve heard horror stories. Inevitably, I find out some people make the mistake of accepting a gig before looking over their work. Then they’re stuck with it.
