I knew that you would enjoy their live performances. The lead singer, Sharon (pronounced like you think it would be), is always energetic and getting the crowd engaged. She's also always moving. Even if she's standing in place, she's always moving her arms or upper body. And they did have an orchestra on the original recording of this song, so this track was pretty much as it was on the album itself, though possibly a bit fuller-sounding. They are always amazing in a live setting, and my friends and I call Sharon an energy vampire because the more energetic a crowd is, the more Sharon seems to feed off of that energy and thus gets more energetic herself. Just wait until you react to a performance of their song Ice Queen when Sharon and the guitarists sit there and jump up and down for a prolonged period of time to the beat of the song. And Ice Queen always has a ton of Sharon getting the audience to sing parts of the song and she conducts them accordingly.
Funny story, the first time I saw Within Temptation, Sharon's in-ear battery pack died mid-concert so she had nothing in her in-ear monitors to guide her, all she could hear was us in the audience for an entire song. One of the sound crew came out and was fixing it, but they didn't stop the show, they kept going, and she did NOT miss a single beat. She apologized between songs after the batteries were swapped, but they never delayed the show at all. I believe the back-up batteries also failed, which was why it took an entire song for them to fix it. It's a funny memory, but also goes to show that Sharon may have internally not been calm about it, but outwardly she was still right on the beat and not letting it show. And us in the crowd singing along possibly also helped keep her in sync since she could hear us. She also takes a lot of time to talk to the audience as well between songs. And sometimes even during songs when there's a prolonged intro or musical interlude where she doesn't have to sing.
I will tell you a secret David, she was my first metal queen, I met this band way before BabyMetal exists thou, so shhhh don't tell anyone i don't want SuMetal get jealous 🤫
I mean how could you not love beautiful and gorgeous Sharon Den Adel besides her angelic voice of course.❤️
The album version is pretty much symphonic metal so the orchestra fits perfectly in this live version. I don't remember if it was in this concert or another she was sick or something, but she also runs all over the stage hyping the crowd so no wonder why she runs out of breath sometimes, but still she manages to sound like an angel everytime.
I don't understand people complaining about their new sound, artists grown up and is natural to them to prove something new, besides even in their early years they had songs like Neverending Story with piano only behind so I don't get the complaining. Sharon did collaboration outside WT but that's another thing, anyway still enjoying their music. I recommend you songs like "Angels, Memories, Faster, Sinead, Paradise feat. Tarja Turunen (first Nightwish singer), And We Run feat. Xzibit, Dangerous feat Howard Jones, Rise The Banner, Supernova" and I could be all day recommending more and more songs, dang I didn't even mentioned my favorites whom don't have MV.
Thanks for watching this and giving them so high score, btw she usually ranks up at least top 5 among metal front woman singers, no wonder why ❤️

The whole album sounds like that. It was the second clip i ever saw of them. At the end i was a true fan.
Within temptation was my first live band ever in 2010. Still a big fan. Hope to see them live this year together with Evanescence. Great score. Thank you for this reaction.

They had this one as the closing song at the last concert I saw them. Same energy after almost an hour and a half of playing. Plus Sharon dancing with pyro effects. And doing the part with "once you will know my dear'" by herself. She has backing vocals in this one but she is perfectly capable of giving you goosebumps on her own. If I hadn't been in love with them already that would have got me.
You're right about Sharon being able to belt it out, you should check out "In the Middle of the Night" from the same concert. Those belts are something else!
P. S that must be a dream come true to once get to play in such band or concert. Oh and 9.0 is just good as it is. Amazing performance
Again you are in it full force^^ Yes, she is great and its good to see the younger Artist doing a fantastic Job (i heard a lot of times from the elderly folks younger people have no taste and cannot sing and perform - wrong)^^ All the best to you and keep up the good work!

The stage shows are *definitely* where it's at for Within Temptation! Honestly this was pretty tame-for their Elements concert the guitarist was on a giant block suspended above the stage. And you were right about Sharon holding back! If you want to see something really high-energy and incredible, check out their Black Symphony concert, especially Jillian and The Truth Beneath the Rose. Now THOSE are some epic performances. She was even recovering from the flu but still jumping all over the place and hitting those high notes beautifully.
Your hunch was absolutely right! They are truly one of the only bands in the world that I think sound better live than on the studio recordings. Sharon's voice is incredible and the energy they all bring to the stage is infectious even through a computer screen. Just a joy to watch them all, especially the older concerts because Sharon's partner used to be the lead guitarist and watching their chemistry on stage is super sweet.

For me there is only one other band that is as consistently good live as Within Temptation and that is Lovebites.

About lead singers, i personally prefer that If they CAN'T do both great stage presence and great singing, they focus on the singing, for in the end its really difficult to do both. But, thinking like that, when i see singers like Sharon who can do both, i stand up for them and praise them even more, bcs thats another level
I see a big injustice on this channel. I have been a fan of this channel for more than a year and I can safely say that the most underrated band here is Within Temptation. How many amazing songs this band has, how many outstanding live performances, the soloist is amazing with her energy and talent. Fans of rock and metal who have seen and heard only 2 songs of this band, I'm sorry for you.

Agreed. And I think Metallica makes bad live albums….KISS and Maiden both excel at live albums.
Once upon a time..a long time ago...Within Temptation was fantastic (now I cant stand them with the poppy, boring crap!). And I would prefer the old Mother Earth Tour DVD version over this. That DVD is just amazing!
I agree their older stuff is better. New stuff is mostly too "mainstream".

Good old Within Temptation, ages ago when they still played metal and growls. Not the pop rock they do nowadays. Her voice tone was unpleasant already before, it did not improve, it is like squeezing a squirel.

@@Bartjo32 I actually did recently. Doctor said I can hear the grass growing. So it is rather the other way around, you are lucky you dont hear how bad she is. Or you just have weird squirrels at your place.

They where symphonic metal once, now they are pop! 😢
And they played kind of doom metal earlier. I'd love if David would do reaction to "WITHIN TEMPTATION - Enter (Mother Earth Tour) HD 4K". Just search this in youtube.
Pop? Mainstream rock sure, but calling them pop is not using your ears :D
