These are very valid points. To create an atmosphere of excitement is probably the most difficult one I think, considering the incredible amount of influences from the outside world on one's mindset. A violinist in an interview once said of 'cutting out the outside world' for the duration of a composing session - no news watching, minimal phone use, plenty of meditation and the such. One must focus inwards during any creative work. Being prepared again very important. I'm a bit fickle about always having neatness in my work area before - and after - a creative session. For me this is a form of inspiration of what will come next om itself. What you say about '5 minutes' high energy and planning where to utilize this is excellent! I loved this analysis - it's a form of self discovery and understanding ones mindset even better. I agree fully about having more than one project going on - it makes good sense! For if one works on a single project for a long time, then the eyes get 'used' to the composition - and thus may miss out important factors. Focusing on other, completely different, projects helps the mind and eyes 'see' clearly with each work in question. This is the same during music composition - the ears get used to the frequencies bombarding them - and so lose clarity of the track in question. One must rest them so that the inner 'Equalizer' can reset - thus in art the artist's eyes 'reset' from all the forms, lines, shadows, negative spaces, colour etc. that are all important on the current artwork. Great video and useful tips. And most important is what you say at the end: don't give up despite difficulties that may arise regarding the work in question... BTW - I love the tea-pot brand you have on the video - I only now noticed it for some reason 😅
Who wouldn't want to click on a teapot? 🫖😄 I wish I had practiced some music growing up, my husband plays the piano so I'm exposed to the way he's learning and trying to improve and I find the parallels between visual arts and music fascinating. The fact that "composition" is used for both, and a visual artwork has rhythm and is experienced sequentially... I also see drawing and painting more and more as a performance, the difference with music is that you experience the trace left by the performance rather than the action when it happens. That's off topic, but that must be very enriching to practice both 😊 I completely agree about shutting down the outside word. It may depend on people, I have read about artists painting with radio, TV and a lot going on around them... But for me I need focus, and the ability to chose when and where to get influenced. That's why I often take a few days to respond to comments, I like to have dedicated times for correspondance (and of course, no notifications, ever).
I usually start off excited to be creating and the end up frustrated at something not working, but that feeling doesnt last long. I either start again, or start on a new even more exciting thing 😀
Watching these vids while I cram an art assignment due tomorrow 😔💔 (these were very helpful btw! will definitely start off my next project with these in mind)
Oh I'm sorry! Yes it's unlisted, I went through the channel and unlisted a bunch that didn't work well... I just made this one public again, thank you for your comment :)
But if you follow your first advice then you have no chance to think about and problem solve your next step on your painting and will have to spend time you might have spent painting figuring out your next move...🤔
Sure, but this advice works out better in the long run. It helps prevent abandoning a project because people tend to procrastinate on a piece that stumped them. Even if you spend some time planning in one work session instead of drawing, you’re more likely to return to the project ready to work if you know exactly what to do
It's personal of course and you can need different approaches for different projects, if you feel like it wouldn't serve you, by all means ignore it ☺️
Absolute spot on great tips❤
Thank you 😊
nice tips !
Thanks!

Enjoy the next one 😊
Is this video unlisted for some reason? I came here from a more recent video but couldn’t find it again in your channel
