My take is that he is Boyfriend’s self-conscious. He isn’t just a demon!
He is supposed to be what Boyfriend truly thinks of himself (Boyfriend very much shadowing the fact he is extremely hurtful on himself).
Think of it as a shadow. He isn’t who he says he is! In fact, the person who could be anyone turns out to be “himself” (he isn’t himself, in fact. Although it sounds confusing, you can think about that as an IDENTITY CRISIS).
Boyfriend is extremely hurtful on himself, and images “SILLY BILLY” or “FRIEND”. This guy is conjured up from nothing but Boyfriend’s negative thoughts. Unfortunately, he appears every time Boyfriend seems to be upset or alone. He is kind of like…a sleep paralysis demon that can appear at any given moment that you are alone, if you will?
At least, that’s my take on him.
