I find it ironic that despite Bug being the worst offensive type in the game, being 4x weaker to it is usually a death sentence competitively just because of how insanely good U-Turn is. Plenty of meta staples can position around their 4x weaknesses to actually powerful types-Rock, Fire, Ice, Fighting, Electric, etc… but Bug of all things is just one of those types where you’re screwed if you get blown up by it because there’s no safe way to maneuver around it. Even worse, most Mythicals are ALSO weak to Dark, which is the other type you really don’t want to be weak to because of how spammable Knock Off and Sucker Punch is.
So basically, Meloetta is Zen Mode Darmanitan all over again. Hell, I'm betting this had some applicable lessons for the Mega Evolutions that happened the very next generation.
Just so everyone is clear, mythicals are legendaries. I see too many people say they’re a separate thing as opposed to what they actually are (a subset)
just so everything is clear, mythicals have always been marketed as separate from legendaries in Japan, while they have often been called just "legendaries" outside of Japan, at least during the earlier generations. I also do believe that the most reasonable distribution would be to consider them a type of legendaries, alongside sub-legendaries and true/box-legendaries.
I'm fine with phione meltan and hoppa, they act as the sort of collector item baby counterparts to otherwise fantastic mons. Meloetta should have had a key item dedicated to it that allows it to switch between its Aria and Pirouette formes; it could be the guitar that the musician at Castelia used. Relic Song switching Meloetta’s formes in battle is too awkward and wastes a move slot especially considering that both formes do completely different things.

I wish VGC would release mythicals for a year instead of always keeping them locked up all the time. Crazy how they have worse stats then "restricted" Pokemon and yet they are never allowed. It isn't like gamefreak isn't already gatekeeping some people with needing specific games and DLC to get certain restricted Pokemon. The event only thing isn't good enough of an excuse at this point.
Feels like within the next couple gens they'll probably need to bump Arceus to 140s and the 100s to 120s to keep their gameplay from becoming totally divorced from their lore significance
Shaymin Sky is one of my favorite legendaries/mythicals along with Articuno and Suicune, always thought it was really fun to play with and Serene Grace people into quitting
So it turns out Phione isn't a full mythical like its mom, its officially called a "quasi-mythical" but nobody outside of GF and TPC are supposed to have known that. I'm assuming Meltan possibly counts as this too, but the chart indicating "mythical status" that the aforementioned Phione was on listed as such was made some time before LPLE so nobody can know for sure tl'dr, its a moot point as its still more or less what everyone thought it was
Manaphy originally hatched from an egg you could transfer from Pokémon Ranger (but only once per Ranger cartridge). Naturally this would make players want to try and make more Manaphy eggs by breeding it with Ditto. My best guess for why Phione exists is because they didn't want to disappoint people who wanted to try breeding a Manaphy, but also didn't want to make Manaphy itself too easy to obtain and distribute, hence Phione being both its offspring and a knock-off.
@False Swipe Gaming For me, I say they could just do two ways for these 100 based mythical Pokemon. They are my overall favorite Pokemon to have. Option 1: simply replace their Psychic Type with Fairy Type. It’s not just lore wise good, but also fitting for them thematically. Perhaps a move poll and a needed stat distribution rework. For Melia and Phione, they may as well just drop their mythical status altogether just to make them proper Little Cup moms. Make them common wild Pokemon to catch in-game with a grindy method to evolve them to a Manaphy. Same case for Melia into becoming Melmetal. Option 2:. Make all of the small and cute 100 based mythical Pokemon catchable in the wild like any other odd encounter. Give them like a Bagon or Absol Encounter percentage rate. Extra request, make them legitimately breedable. Some of us are down hatching a bunch of Jirachi or Mew eggs. Who’s to say we can just breed a bunch of shaymins we catch in the wild?
I know everyone is gonna want a top 5 mythicals, but id love to see a few videos about how mythical pokemon would impact VGC, things like Arceus would be obviously cracked in gen 4 vgc, but im sure you guys could figure out a way to do interesting things with the idea
Me wishing Celebi had a corrupted form based off its “Withered” dark form from Pokémon 4Ever. Maybe have either it’s SpAtk & Speed/Defense & SpDef spike, that way it can be a better attacker or cleric?

I was honestly waiting for the how good was phione actually, but this definitely works. I want it to get at least a little more attention. If gamefreak could just give it calm mind, that’d be fantastic, I could feel better about wanting to use it 😭
Putting Celebi on this list after it being uber in generation two, a meta game staple in generation 3, and a past meta game staple in generation five (before some bans) is ridiculous. Arceus is still pretty strong with its base 120s and vast movepool. It is consistently Top 5 in Ubers in at least one of its forms
In Gen6 i ran a physical speed support Celebi:
- Jolly nature + Kings Rock.
• Zen Headbutt.
• U,Turn, Seed Bomb, Fling.
• Thunder wave.
• Swords Dance or Swagger.
My Gen4 Event Celebi:
-Hasty nature + Life Orb.
• Nasty Plot.
• Giga Drain.
• Ancient Power.
• Sucker Punch - G4 Tutor.
Stall Celebi:
- Timid nature + LeftOvers/BrightPowder.
• Psychic.
• LeechSeed.
• Mud Slap.
• Thunder Wave.
Shaymin Sky is one of my favorite legendaries/mythicals along with Articuno and Suicune, always thought it was really fun to play with and Serene Grace people into quitting
This video is how i learned Meoletta has a 2nd form
So it turns out Phione isn't a full mythical like its mom, its officially called a "quasi-mythical" but nobody outside of GF and TPC are supposed to have known that.
I'm assuming Meltan possibly counts as this too, but the chart indicating "mythical status" that the aforementioned Phione was on listed as such was made some time before LPLE so nobody can know for sure
tl'dr, its a moot point as its still more or less what everyone thought it was
I didn't play many of the games fully, and then got into showdown. Genuinely did not know meloetta was a mythic mon because of how mediocre it seemed
I'm not even sure why Phione exists. Like- did the designers really look at Manaphy and say "okay, but what if it was just bad?"
The four move slot dilemma, great tusk theorem
Top 5 Best Mythical Pokemon: 5 different forms of Arceus
15:27 Phione and Take Heart?
Still waiting for How Lost in Alcohol was SPINDA actually?!?!
anyone notice how 4 of the 5 of these are either Grass, Psychic or Grass/Psychic and than the closest thing to a Mythical pre-evo
Now i wanna see the best mythicals
Hoopa is underrated. I used it in Gen 7 UU on a Sticky Webs team and it does decently well.
I know everyone is gonna want a top 5 mythicals, but id love to see a few videos about how mythical pokemon would impact VGC, things like Arceus would be obviously cracked in gen 4 vgc, but im sure you guys could figure out a way to do interesting things with the idea
We gotta get Oricorio a video, my favorite Pokemon is pretty interesting competitively
I guess you could say their myth is not very impactful
You laugh at Celebi now but in TCG Pocket they're a MENACE over here!
Me wishing Celebi had a corrupted form based off its “Withered” dark form from Pokémon 4Ever. Maybe have either it’s SpAtk & Speed/Defense & SpDef spike, that way it can be a better attacker or cleric?
Celebi shouldn't be considered one of the bad ones... Its pretty good on gen 3
Yeah, but someone has to take the number 5 slot, and it fell off hard. The other option would most likely be Mew, realistically 🤔
Names not outright stated due to faith in the comment section's basic logic and thinking skills:
5. The Onion DeLorean Fairy and the reason everyone hates/loves the GS Ball arc
4. It Takes Two To Tango, unfortunately
3. More rings than Superman 64, and more restraint on the "phenomenal cosmic powers"
2. Thanks for nothing
1. Hold the phone, I'm melting
As these are all green, why not do the worst 6 coloureds to be?
I was honestly waiting for the how good was phione actually, but this definitely works. I want it to get at least a little more attention. If gamefreak could just give it calm mind, that’d be fantastic, I could feel better about wanting to use it 😭
But hey, at least all of them didn’t get a bad treatment like Darkrai.
Pokemon whos stats betray there designs ie the blastoise theorem
Phione
Putting Celebi on this list after it being uber in generation two, a meta game staple in generation 3, and a past meta game staple in generation five (before some bans) is ridiculous. Like it’s not good now, but ignoring its history on a channel that used to be about a Pokémon’s competitive history is laughable.
U lowkey wanted some of Wolfe’s nachos
i didnt even realize meltan was a pokemon you could get in game lol
How the mighty Celebi has fallen.
What was that bump at 1:13 ?
An editing mistake
4:39 not focus miss 😭💀
Victini is not on this list. Your life is spared.
V-Create go brrr!
Why Healing is Everything:
The Blissey theorm
Celebi is my favorite Pokemon, but even I have to admit that it’s not really viable in competitive nowadays. But thanks for pointing out it’s positives as well, clearly the best of the worst.
