One thing I recommend if you want super soft webkinz is a hair dryer. Not for heat purposes but the air makes the fur really soft. Obviously put the hair dryer on the coolest setting and don’t put it too close to the webkinz. Even doing this without washing them makes a big different to their fur if you brush them as well.
Your channel is such an inspiration to me. I think it's so awesome that you still appreciate Webkinz and stuffed animals in general. I still love them too and will never stop. Great video! I'll make sure to keep these tips in mind if I end up needing to restore a Webkinz in the future.
Thank you, this is super helpful!! I was actually thinking about rewatching your "how to wash Webkinz" video the other day because I recently got some that are pretty roughed up, so this updated video came at just the right time! And thanks for the warning about putting them in the dryer, I had no idea! Thankfully I don't think I've ever done that with mine.
Wow! He looks so different! 😱 I, of course, being a dumb child, used to put my Webkinz in the dryer... but this video has inspired to see what I can do with the damage done, and I now know what I can do, to do so! Thanks, Sassy! 💕
My only problem with using the washing machine, is that even though the plush feels dry, there might be some water left inside of the plush that you didn’t know was in there. This can cause mold to develop inside of the plush and mold can make some people sick. That’s why some companies recommended using a damp washcloth to clean your plushes.
That's fair and understandable, I myself am highly allergic to mold, but that's why it's important to thoroughly dry the Webkinz with something like a fan for hours and not blow dry and shove them in a closet. The vinegar is also helpful like this because it kills mold.
I have my first webkinz signature timber wolf coming in the mail with what looks like small amounts of dryer fur patches around the face. Found this video very helpful for my dream plush coming in the mail. Thank you for all the tips!
Omg thank you so much My Signature cocker spaniel, Basel was on my headboard by my bed and my friend was plastering the wall and she got dirty from the plaster dust.
Okay, so whenever I get a Webkinz (signature or not) I always wash them and fix them up if they need to be fixed up because you never know what the Webkinz has been doing at the last home (there was a dirty Mercari user that h**ped their Webkinz if you haven’t heard) so I never wanna take my chances. If I wash them I never have the worry about something gross on and/or inside of them that I don’t know about. If I get them nwt off of Amazon I won’t wash them unless I take them outside and put them on the ground (I’ve stopped doing Kinztagram photography so I don’t do this anymore)
Ah, I think I did hear of them, was that the person who moved to selling on Poshmark? I get washing them though, I wash most of the ones I get, but if they're basically like new, I typically don't bother. You'd notice if they were stained or played with in certain ways. Although all the "like new" ones I used to get were from an eBay seller who sold the tags and plush separately and I know they weren't tampered with. Goodwill? You bet those things are going straight in the machine.
If you're good with sewing I'd try restitching the muzzle to make the ridge more pronounced. Also use an alcohol marker to touch up where there used to be black airbrushing.
I've always dried my signatures with a hair dryer but I never even considered the Air conditioner, how smart! oh, and another way that you can fix airbrushing is a colored pencil! sometimes I like to dip it in water before I put it on but it looks really realistic!!
of you know, how can you get marker off the tag? when i was little i would write on the tags there name but i’m wanting to rename them now but idk how to do that
@@willow8150 It's still not a foolproof method. Things move and the Webkinz could make it to the outer rim, also leaves room for lint to get caught in the fur. I know many have been defending the dryer in the comments, but frankly I just don't get the point when fans exist.
Yes, of course! Delicate bags are designed to protect fragile objects in the wash, so it'll work with anything. Of course, just make sure it's cold water as it can't protect the plush from heat damage.
does anyone have any tips for when you accidentally dried them with dryer sheets and now they feel super greasy/oily/waxy? ive used baking soda and it’s helped TONS but it still has too much of a waxy feeling and i have super bad sensory issues with that texture.
My mom made the mistake years ago putting my marble cat in the dryer. Her fur is fully melted, but I still love her. Honestly using a blow dryer with cool/cold setting really helps do some fluffing after it’s dried or almost dried without melting the fur. If you’d like some example before and after photos doing a blow dryer method after washing feel free to message me 🥰
Yeah, vinegar in general is really good. I've used it in washing all sorts of Webkinz for years. I did brush his tail, but the fact is once faux fur has been matted and melted by the dryer, there is literally nothing that can be done, that's basically the one bit of research I did for this video. There's no fixing heat damage.
Do you know if washing and drying like you did could fix dryer fur? I found an old American Girl dog that I got off eBay and he’s got pretty bad dryer fur I think. I didn’t put him in the dryer, the person who had him before me did.
oh my goodness where did u get him??? bc i'm sorta convinced he is actually the same signature arctic fox i had years ago o_o i sold him on ebay to somewhere in utah!!! and i wish i remembered what i named him (or at the time, her) the reason the tail is all matted is because i took it to play in the snow and didn't know that the dryer messed it up like that
This video was super informative!! I definitely wished I would’ve known about the plastic melting in the dryer years ago, but I’m glad to hear that the washing machine didn’t cause it 😅 Do you happen to have any tips for lil Kinz? I have a lil Kinz golden retriever and the guy is in rough shape compared to my lil Kinz cocker spaniel; he’s not as fluffy anymore
Yeah, I wish I would've known about the melting before I took a hot hair dryer to Luke. I don't really have a lot of tips for the old plush. They get that stringy fur and after it gets matted, which is caused by the ends fraying (again, mostly from heat damage), it's not exactly something I've been successful at fixing. Lil'Kinz, while their fur is shorter and more fluffy, the best advice I can give is washing them. With ones that don't have airbrushed coloring on them, using the sink with some dish soap and finishing off with a good conditioner can be helpful if the washer doesn't get them very clean.
I have a beanie baby who's eyes got scratched up by the washer because we don't have a delicate bag. It's sad because his eyes were the reason I fell in love with him.
you can use a wire brush for the matted tail, maybe that would work a little, but that might also take a bit of fur

I don't think you can. The ink stains and I don't think it can be removed.
Who else has been watching her ever since they were like 6
I've some kinzatubers put their Webkinz signatures into the drier with no heat their webkinz came out beautiful
ok but why do that when you can just use a fan that doesn't run he risk of scratching the eyes and nose?

where do you find your artic foxes? i’m invested in finding one now
Shiya was from Amazon, but that was back in 2013. Jin was on Mercari and Merlina, eBay. Good luck hunting!
Would a delicate bag work for the original Husky? I’ve had Blizzard for a couple years and his paws have gotten dirty and I’m not sure how.
Yes, of course! Delicate bags are designed to protect fragile objects in the wash, so it'll work with anything. Of course, just make sure it's cold water as it can't protect the plush from heat damage.

You could probably try to find markers the same color and touch his eyes up ^^
That would change how his eyes look. Also they're plastic so just wondering... How would that work?
Ok so I have found that using a wire cat brush on matted fur actually restores it to near perfection!
I dry mine by putting them in the sun xD didn't know i could use a fan (but in my room)
it is possible to put some webkinz in the dryer, but it certainly isn't recommended
