I "discovered" these guys only a couple of weeks ago, and now they are my daily accompaniment. What brilliant artists! Like most Americans--or maybe I should say most modern listeners--I had no interest in chamber music whatsoever. Then suddenly, with ensembles like this, I began to hear them for the first time. Thank you, JQ! --and thank you, TH-cam, for making these quartets so readily available. I am overwhelmed by the beauty from a composer of true genius and such skilled interpreters!
Thank you , Musicians, for this wonderful rendition of a piece of a phenomenal composer of 20 century! It reflects all that happened in the former USSR. Unfortunately, this music can not be popular nowadays and maybe this is not so bad, just it is so. Not for the general audience!
Such a moving and passionate experience ... I listended to The Dansih Quartet perfomring the very same pice not so long ago, and what an extraordinary piece of work this is .... Somehow it brings us back in history when all the impossible choices people were forced to make during wartime suddenly arrives at our frontdoor. I dont think I would have had the courage to make the right choices, but the music of Shostakovitch somehow describes these emotions in such fragile and yet beautiful terms ...
Powerful performance! Bravi. It’s so great to hear the musicians of your level leaving a piece of themselves in the music, dedicating the tremendous raw energy this piece so desperately needs to the performance! Thank you for that 👏
