    My first car as a 16 y/o girl was my mom’s 2003 Honda Pilot- amazing first car for a teen! I was hit by a speeding car, totaled my Pilot, but I was totally fine!

    I can't tell you HOW MUCH I ENJOY this channel. You are a GODSEND to young mother's who are desperate for this type of knowledge. I sent your video to my pregnant daughter and three of her new mom friends. This Honda Pilot would sure make the new parent journey easier. We literally are on our third Pilot (our 2nd car is a Passport) and we love it. The only thing that would make this sweeter, is if the back doors opened like a van. For the "tight" parking spaces that I have to get the grandchild out of the car and into the stroller. Maybe an Odyssey is in this old Gma's future!😂Thanks so much for this video!!

    I’ve had my 2021 pilot for a year but I loved this review! There are a couple things I’d like to add- you can actually click the “mom mirror” into place so it stays down and you can watch the backseat. Also, the lid to the extra trunk storage actually rests at the bottom of it creating the perfect recessed ‘bin’ for a full load of groceries.

    • @jodyminix429

      You can also turn the lid upside down (with the carpet side facing down) and have the hard plastic side face up- so if you're hauling garden supplies, toys after the beach, etc.. it wont get the carpet dirty. pretty cool!

    We managed to get our hands on a 2022 Honda Pilot Black Edition a few weeks ago. While it wasn't our first choice we are loving it so far! Due to the shortage we tried to have a few options we were interested in and Honda happened to have a Pilot on the lot that had not been claimed yet, finally had some luck.

    Great review! I consider this one of the best family cars if you are avoiding the minivan :)
    We bought the 2021 Honda Pilot Black Edition, with over 10k miles under out belt here are my thoughts... Took it on a road trip and it was great! The black edition has a few more upgrades that include Memory seating for front driver side. Heated and ventilated seats up front. Captains chairs are heated (not ventilated). There is red interior ambiance lighting and fancy red stitching on the seats, including the back. Bluray system and the sound is great!
    This pilot has great AWD in snow, from Utah, and never had any issues. Handling is great. For the size of the vehicle, the interior is great.
    Plenty of power! The engine in the pilot is unreal...it sounds like a sports car when you floor it. it just doesn't sound like a family car, and I prefer driving in Sports mode, and when I do, it's actually pretty fast!
    I looked at every SUV and yhe pilot was the only bluray system available, has hdmi that we hooked up th3 switch to, and we got it below MSRP...these days you may pay MSRP. I looked at the TELLURIDE as well, and it was between the Pilot and it, and I opted to NOT go with Telluride because they were 6-9 months out for the model we wanted, and 7% above MSRP...forget that!
    The pilot is simple, practal, clean design, and the engine is fun, especially in sport mode...fuel efficiency isn't bad either! I would definitely recommend this, even tho the exterior design is old and possibly even boring, but in the white paint with black edition, it actually looks really nice!
    One of my favorite features is the add on "Welcome lights" get these, they are awesome! (Welcome Lights demo:
    th-cam.com/video/Zw4WjsIHBc4/w-d-xo.html
    I would buy this vehicle again.
    Only complaints:
    *Button shifting on 3-point turns are slow.
    *Conveyor car wash unfriendly
    *wireless charger is useless and does NOT work
    My wife LOVES this Pilot. I'm betting the boxy design comes back on their next major refresh...mark my words :D
    AND it's going to last forever as long as you change the oil every 4k miles (ignore maintenance minder, which will mislead).
    Thanks!

    • @ericaengler
      @ericaengler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wait, conveyor car wash unfriendly?? Why?

    • @PlasmadaeDal
      @PlasmadaeDal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericaengler To go in a conveyor carwash, you need to put the car in Neutral and the conveyor pushes the vehicle, right...This Pilot has a button shifter, and to get OUT of Nuetral, you need to hit the brakes. When you're on a conveyor, it'll jerk your vehicle and I sadly had our rims scratched :(
      I asked the carwash folks and of course they didn't want to accept responsibility. These Pilots really need a carwash mode so you can switch back to drive without having to press the brake.
      I figured out a way to very lightly press the brake so it minimally stops, but that is the bummer about conveyor car washes. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

    • @morganca42
      @morganca42 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have a 2019 Honda Pilot Touring and have the button shifter. I wait for the conveyor at the car wash to completely push my car off the track after the drier is done and then push my foot on the brake and then into drive that way it doesn’t catch on the track and mess with my rims or tires. LOVE my Pilot. It’s such a beautiful family car. No complaints at all!

    • @PlasmadaeDal
      @PlasmadaeDal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@morganca42 I'll have to try that next time, thanks! Does your wireless charger work? Ours charges for 10 seconds, then off, then again 10 seconds, then off...doesn't stay in charging mode!

    • @brendamalmquist8497
      @brendamalmquist8497 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I noticed the wireless charger doesn't seem to work on our 2022 Honda Pilot Elite too :(
      I want to say on our vechicle, I was able to connect a Amazon Fire Stick and/or a Roku stick via the hdmi cable in the center console. I then connected the stuck to the vechicle's wifi. It allowed me to watch my TV apps in the rear entertainment system.

    I love my 2018 honda pilot! I do miss the blind spot and the dingy ding about rear crashes, i just have the one in front that usually sounds when someone gets on my way without notice (so common here in Denver 😹. People don’t know about lights) but I still looove my “old” pilot. The access to the third row its A thing but I think ill put my 5yo in the 3rd row and buy 2 graco slim 3xl for the 2nd row (in a couple of years. My baby girl is only 7 months 😅)
    Ill keep an eye on your reviews! Totally everything what i look in a car!! (Dont know anything about cylinders and stuff so thats a good thing to learn with you 🙏💛)

    Love my 2012 Pilot! I’ve had it since ‘15. There’s basically no upgrades but I love it anyway. It’s been great with 3 kids and a medium size dog. We keep cars til they die so hopefully by then they’ll bring back my ‘12’s boxy style, but I wouldn’t hesitate to upgrade to another Pilot either way!

    I just sold my 2009 Pilot. Had it thru the car seat years with my kids and it was amazing. Between my kids plus friends we regularly had 5 carseats in various positions including 3 rear facing in the 2nd row. Honestly was the best mom car for littles. I bought a 2019 Pilot to replace the 2009 and it’s still amazing. My kids are now 5’ 7” and taller and they still fit and have leg room. We considered a minivan but I just hate the way they handle. Plus, if you compare all the interior measurements the Pilot is really bigger/roomier than other suvs in the same size range.

    I know some people don't like this design but I get well over 30MPG with mine on the highway and I think it's because of the aerodynamics of the design. I used to drive mine from SoCal to Vegas a lot and drove from California to Virginia and would routinely get 30+ MPG on the highway. I don't have the 9 speed though, just the 6 speed EX so not sure if that makes a difference.

    Loved this review! Hadn't included the Pilot in my search until watching this video! I wonder what you think about including info on the ability to take out a 2nd row seat in your reviews?? I'm going to have 4 kids age 5 and under all in car seats this summer & need to switch to a 3rd row car. I will need to help the kids in the 3rd row with getting buckled in and will constantly need to get back there. It seems like completely removing one seat in the 2nd row (the 40 in a 60/40 bench situation) would be better than climbing over a folded down seat, but there's very little information out there on which vehicles can have a seat removed!

    • @michellebailer5863
      @michellebailer5863 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I have 4 kids 5 and under and I would fold the 40 seat in the second row down and just kept it down all the time. So it's flat but not removed. Then I put the oldest farther away because he could buckle and I could just tighten him. Then I had access to all the others to fully buckle. I put the infant car seat in the middle of the second row since I could buckle him before putting his car seat in. Works great! Tight for sure but possible!

      We have 5 kids in a 2014 Honda Pilot. Ages 10 down to 1. It's a squeeze but totally doable. When we had four, we would often have 2 in the third row and 2 in the second row with the 40 seat in the second row slid and tilted forward for easy access to the 3rd row. Enjoy your family - those younger years will fly right by!

      Hi Katrice. I have a 2020 pilot elite and have a compass that I can choose to display on my instrument cluster when choosing the navigation option. I believe it depends on the trim level you have in order to have a compass. Try to see if it appears when you scroll up and down the app choices using the steering wheel controls.

    Question, why get a bench if it basically renders the 3rd row unusable? Wondering if 2nd row captains would allow usable car seat option(s) in 3rd row?

    • @shaquontaekellam7179
      @shaquontaekellam7179 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it does! I have a 2018 elite which has the captains seats in the second row. There’s a button on the second row seats that spring them forward and fold, giving you easy access to the 3rd row. It gets complicated when you have two car seats on the second row.

    • @carriprom621
      @carriprom621 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have three rear facing car seats, a bench seat is the best option. We have a surprisingly small selection of SUVs that will work based on 3 rear facing and where the anchors are located.

    I love my 2020 honda pilot exl with navigation and res .I love how comfortable the seats are and I'm 6'4 260 .I have plenty of leg and hip room.my kid loves the DVD player.the only con I have about the car was the tires that come with honda the bridgestone duelers, last 3 honda I got all came with them .they are by far the worst tires ever horrible in rain and snow and sloppy cornering and all three cars I got 25k out of them .put a nice set of michelin defender tires on the honda incredible feel the car is better then factory .

    You need to try to review the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia! It’s a beauty, but I think their third row is not the best. CANT WAIT 🤍

    • @StephenPaul1160
      @StephenPaul1160 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sequoia went from having one of the best if not the best 3rd rows of ALL 3 row vehicles to what now will be one of the worst. The new one does not fold flat and now there's a hump in the floor so people with longer legs will not be comfortable. It will be as bad as the older Tahoe's with the "theater seating" in the 3rd row that was nearly impossible for adults to sit in. I have no idea what Toyota was thinking with this redesign. They could have lengthened the rig to better compete with the Expedition and Suburban, updated the dash and had a real contender in the full-size 3-row segment.

    How do you do 3 carseats across with only 5 anchors tho? I have a CRV that I love but it also only has 5 anchors in the back and no third row. I've been considering the Pilot for our next upgrade but if I can fit 3 carseats in my CRV one day that would be even better!

    • @nataliefennell2523
      @nataliefennell2523 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would install with the seatbelt rather than the lower anchors. Lower anchors have weight limits and seat belt installs are just as safe when installed correctly.

    • @stephc1091
      @stephc1091 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      3 across in a CRV would be super tight and it would highly depends on the ages/sizes of the kids in the car seats. I know the CRV has(?) or previously had some seat belt overlap and non-removable headrests which could be an issue

    So, I was looking at you in the car seat, thinking there’s no way I’m going to be comfortable in those tiny seats. Luckily, you mentioned you are 6’ tall, lol. Going to keep this on the list of choices. I’m 6’3” and as I get older, seat comfort gets more, and more a priority.
    If you could tell the manufacturers two facts, it might help. One, the driving population is getting taller, and sits too much, and needs better seats. Two, the extensions that lengthen the seat to support the thighs on long trips WILL sell cars.

    My wife had a new Highlander but got into an accident over the summer. We settled on a Pilot Special Edition as a replacement and we love it. I myself had a 2012 Pilot with almost 200K miles with no issue...unfortunately that as well was totaled just a few weeks ago. 😅😫 Love me some Pilots.

      Sorry to hear about your accident. Since you have owned both a newer highlander and a pilot which vehicle handled better when driving in your opinion? Where the seats more comfortable in one vehicle vs the other? And where there any major pros and cons that you noticed between the two? Thank you.

    • @suthius85
      @suthius85 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lani9779 All good. Thank you. Personally, I thought the Highlander handled better...but the Pilot is just a more comfortable drive. Also, we have three kids. The Highlander is about 3 inches more narrow than the Pilot. Those 3 inches make a world of a difference, especially when putting three in the back comfortably and utilizing the entire cargo for our stuff. My wife loved her Highlander...but I prefer driving the Pilot.

Have not had any issues since and really hope it stays that way. I did ask for the best and most experienced technician, because believe it or not it does make a difference.
