I met Tom many years ago on Brasenose 1, he was smashing it carp after carp. I went over had a chat about his tactics and he took time to show me the rigs and how to tie up a small solid bag for a long chuck. Nothing but respect for ya, the green eyed monster is a very real and unfortunately it shows who has your back and whom is willing to stab you in it. More power to you for not rising to them, the cream always floats to the top Tom never forget that buddy

There's a little over 1.1g of isoleucine per 100g of worm, there's 10.08g of isoleucine in a mussel. Mussels are also a really really good bait for carp fishing. It's the natural amino acids they're after.

I love this bloke! I've never heard of him before as im in my first year of carp fishing. He's given me real food for thought about how i can become a better angler, most tutorials are about the rig and bait but not about how that baits going to settle or what to use. I had no clue about wind and undertow, ive learnt a lot listening to Tom. Thank you!

I've not been following tom long so never heard the horrifying story he's talked about in this. Mental health is being talked about more and more in our sport and Tom's shown he's a fine ambassador for it with those comments. Another great podcast from Korda and another great watch from the big hit angler himself Tom Maker 👏

  • @jimfosterfish
    @jimfosterfish 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

    Go on Tom!
He's so right about the hours/effort/practice you need to put in in order to become an expert/world class in any area. Carp fishing is no different.
FWIW I've never met Tom, but I've fished with Andy (his dad) on a couple of occasions and I know how proud of his son he is, and rightly so.
Ultimately in life, I think that's about all that matters - having a loving family around you, supporting them and making them proud.
So keep doing what you're doing, Tom: being the best dad, employee and angler you can be.
    The rest is largely immaterial.

What you can learn from one video from Tom some people will not learn in a life time. Respect the angler for there catches. Love this. You speak so well about everything but particularly how spiteful these online bullies are. Your comments about the real harm they can cause are spot on. We both sat here and said they're jealous. Despicable people.
    Good on yer Tom!

Absolute brilliant podcast and fantastic insight into the BS that Tom has had to deal with. I meet Tom at farlows one day whilst looking for a peg to fish with my wife I knew who he was but didn’t wanna approach him like a fan boy so I made out I didn’t know him at all. He was an absolute gentleman he spoke to me and said he was leaving soon did I want to jump in behind him and even put me on an area where he had caught from that night. Top bloke keep up the good work Tom and all the best at Korda 👍🏻

I was lucky enough to fish along side tom on B2 on point swims just after lockdown when linear first opened back up and all I can say is what a guy.
It was the time he caught the big ghostie on camera and had around 42 fish.
He was such a genuine guy, gave up lots of his time to talk to me. Him and Bart even invited me into the peg for a barbeque.
I was having a few fish myself and ran out of bait so he gave me a fair bit to keep fishing. Probably small and nothing to him but gave me a fishing trip memory to last me a life time.
    Thank you Tom

Hi Tom, I couldn't listen to this without commenting!
Personally I dislike social media for the negative reasons, and you have to read your fair share of trolling which sucks, in my experience those that troll are usually unhappy for 1 reason or another in their own lives and have to take out there frustrations on other people, it's very sad!
I've took a lot of advice and tips from watching you on youtube over the years and your one of the best anglers out there and I for one is so pleased you've got through the hard times and are genuinely happy and in a good place and you deserve to be working for korda.
I'm one of those anglers who probably only does half a dozen 48 hr sessions a year but I still love it, I'm usually a shy person so don't go to these angling shows but hopefully I will one day and would love to say hi, and thanks 👍🏻
I have recently started using the fluro d rig in my own angling and can understand why you use it! So easy to tie and it works 🙂 I've been using it to great affect as a snowman rig too.
Thanks for all you do for the carp fishing industry, I 100% get everything you said, I went through a rough patch about the same time as you and get it, look after yourself Tom 🙏🏻

Well done Tom, you showed how much better you are than those keyboard warriors. Personally I only believe it's banter if you've got the guts to stand in front of someone and make the comment.

Awesome podcast Tom. The people against you are the middle-aged men who wanted it, but never had the desire to achieve it. Jealousy is paramount in the fishing world and you should be so proud of what you have achieved, for yourself and no one else. Forget the haters - they are the people logging onto your social media accounts daily looking for tips.

Dont ever really watch full korda pod casts, lose the enjoyment after half an hour or so.
    but this was great 👍
You're a great angler of course, but more importantly a top chap.
    cheers for this

Just came across your podcast I know nothing about coarse fishing Good on you Tom
I know exactly where your coming from had it for 7 years sea fishing switched to fly fishing took 3 years hard work and dedication ended up with a few caps and winning prestigious troutmaster final found the more successful you are the more knives get stuck in your back
I've now joined a small syndicate and switched to coarse fishing total novice at this I've started with a 3m and 6m whip and a couple of stick floats and thoroughly enjoying it
Any tips would be much appreciated
    Thanks again
Jealousy is a horrible decrease Tom
Keep up the good work and the very best of luck with your new job

Well done Tom. When I saw this and the length of the pod cast. I'd amit I didn't think I'd of watched it all. But I have and enjoyed the whole thing, and just wanted to state. You shouldn't of needed to explain yourself again about that. Bloody well done for getting on with it and being strong. A role model for many people fella and you should be proud as I know your family will be.

You are the perfect partner for Korda Tom. A very honest an expansive interview and a few golden tips thrown in there too, like the importance of water tow. So sad that such a large number of the jealous want to bully and attack on social media, but you have come through it and hopefully you have the experience to know how to be less affected by the negativity now.
Good luck to you. But remember, it may be your job, the thing you love, but its still "only fishing".
Building still needs good sparkies, dads are always right!
