One of my personal favourite feelings when playing tall, is the under the radar strength. Development, vassals, dispersed lands, privateering trade, etc. That's why I love Genoa.

Would love to see a Korea campaign, cause i think its a really underrated playing tall nation who can also get pretty massive in a short amount of time by killing Ming. There updated mission tree is super fun.
I played them but figured I was supposed to use ming to protect me from the hordes. Got really tired of paying tribute

Could you make a pirate Naxos (turning capital to Venice, Malta or Málaga since is the best inland defensive province in Mediterranean) and how to stablish a healthy eco in the Mediterranean, before 1500, roleplaying island pirates just ships, random wars against great powers, and marines
You can easily vassalize an elector and buy electorship, then you stay in the HRE when forming Italy
In perhaps the most fitting example ever of knowing your market in advertising, I had a commercial for a flashlight come up just before the war against the French and Ottomans kicked off...

Florence is always a blast! Just one little clarification: while it' s true that the south of Italy is incredibly more backward and underdeveloped compared to the north, the University of Naples was founded in 1224 by the emperor of the HRE Frederick the II, making it the oldest state -funded university in the world and one of the oldest in continuos operation. Frederick founded it because he needed skilled administrative and bureaucratic personnel for his court. Thomas Aquinas was a student of the University of Naples. The Schola Medica Salernitana is even older, founded in the 9th century. So, while most of the south were ignorant peasants living and dying in the fields of noble landowners, Naples and nearby Salerno were centers of knowledge.
Does anyone know the Idea groups he picked in this run? I can vaguely recall him mentioning it once in his earlier vids on this playthrough on what he thought he'd take, but its a bit hard to find.
It inspired me to do a Florence run myself (Actually got the papal controller mission completed early on). His 4-dev click stuff seems ridiculously strong; I'm at 1525 so I guess im waiting for those universities. Without the HRE dev bonus and the missions expired I guess I'll be a bit less insane though.

reason i dont go 2 mil ideas is because with pluto infrastructure i start deving for super cheap after so I end up with insane amounts of manpower, them getting 5% more discipline doesnt mean schnappes when i throw 1 mil at them. I got 10k monthly manpower recvery in 1600 xD@@sebastiaanb2651
Yup makes sense :P - I'll try to use that in a tall campaign if I can ever stop myself from blobbing when it gets good xD (I tend to end up trying to take as much land as possible and see if I can survive the coalition).

My favorite magic trick in EUIV is Trashius Hairius Fallus from the Windowus.
I had a similar situation playing as Theodoro for the Gothic Invasion. Subjugated and annexed Genoa to get HRE access, flipped Tuscan, formed Tuscany for missions and dev, formed Italy for claims and coring, then used culture conversion to switch back to Gothic for the achievement.
I... uh... failed the run. Got greedy trying to form union over Austria while using another war to keep my allies Spain and Commonwealth from protecting them. Spain also got Naples early, blocking me from the south. At least enjoyed beating up Ottomans and France with the Habsburg lads.
Better thing to look at to see if you already have a fort in a province is the cost price, since you still can have free buildingslots in those provinces. You do need to watch out for wood provinces, since they lower construction costs.

My friend, i love your videos, I agree with your opinions on how the world works and I think you are an amazing person.. this just to give you the right context about what I am going to say next:
the south vs north of Italy is a long story made of injustices, opportunistic exploitations followed by ruthless repression on the advantage of the northern part of the, at that time, newly formed country. It's a 170 y. old story that it has continued (with some brief interruptions) until today, in different forms.
Today gvmt spending allocation criteria still damage the southern part, because based on "historical" expenditures and infrastructures are a mirage in some cases.
Regardless of this, we are the one to be blamed for our destiny, at least at the world's eyes. The governments use this excuse to get more funds from EU but keeps spending it in the north.
This is just to say that, beside all the funny jokes that you make about any country, it is painful to hear them on the level of development of some areas...
I know it seems that I am making a huge deal about an innocent joke, but today I had a few minutes and wanted to make this objection (you will probably never read it).
P.S. I know and I agree, it was just a joke, but as I think you are also sensitive to injustices occurring around the world, I thought it was good to let you know. Cheers Ludi!

Some of the republics that have royal marriges are allowed to get PUs, but ONLY if they contest them like Ludi did. You can't claim throne nor get them naturally, you have to contest through war.
