I've spent the day looking at video's on carpet fitting. So far this is the best. No interruptions by workmates thinking they can do better. Clear sound so I can hear the instructions. No diverting off subject to show the pet dog. The only one to say the distance to have gripper is related to the thickness of the carpet. THANK YOU

I watched other videos on carpet fitting first as I was slightly put off by the length of this one. That was a mistake, I should have gone to this one first! The guy in this video is incredibly informative, thanks so much for all the helpful tips 🙂

Excellent video but convinced me it's best to get a fitter!

Underlay is upside down, top side (white side) has a webbing in it

I noticed that I’d get a bollocking from my boss for that 😂

    youve fitted underlay upside down
when you stretch it can move the underlay underneath also as surface isnt smooth like other side

What exactly is the aim of this video? Are you trying to show customers how to skip paying a profesional to do it? Totally pointless

In my case I am struggling to find a fitter who will return a phone call never mind do the work. If I have to resort to buying the tools and all the materials myself then video's such as this at least give me a clue as to what is required and how I might proceed.

Perhaps to help the folk who want to give it a shot?
      Help a budding carpet fitter?
It's a tad stupid question tbh...
Knowledge and learning should be freely accessible!
      Professionals will still have jobs....

@@nightout7083 1.If you watched an artist draw an image, would you then be able to do exactly the same thing? Watching and doing are 2 diferent things & DIYing something like stairs can be dangerous, a bad job in worst case can end up in someone falling down the stairs which i know of happening and the lady was pregnant and broke her arm.
      2. I have seen so many apprentices of other floorlayers leave before they are ready, go work for other places claiming they can do it all only to be shit. Its disrespectful to the people who take these apprentices on, time and money outlaid to have it thrown back at you and then they take potentially good fitters work by undercutting them and then trying to learn on the fly from videos like this, when they should in fact have stuck with their boss/teacher until they was ready.
Knowledge and learning isnt freely accessible,I cant learn to be a surgeon for free and You cant possibly learn a trade from watching TH-cam.
So my question isnt stupid, what is the point in a professional floorlayer posting a video to show people how to DIY the job he earns a living from?

@@stanleyflooring6772 are you some kind of spack, some people can’t afford fitters and may end up getting cheap carpets second hand etc which then can be used, the amount of tools here are in excess only need tape measure, bolster and knife for a DIY job for someone trying just to improve something slightly. By all means people should use professionals where they can but the reality for a lot of people isn’t always feasible.
