***Quick update***
The Prime Minister can be a member of both LS as well as RS. He belongs as well as chosen by the party that dominates the LS.
thank you sir.. i got confused at that time remembering Manmohan Singh... thanks for the clarification
U mean either a member of LS or RS
+akshay rajaram Yes, either. Pardon my sentence formation.
Amit Sengupta Sir, There's a big mistake here, 'First Past the Post System' in India applies only to election of candidate in a constituency and not to the government formation. The Party or coalition willing to form government needs more than 50% of the total number of seats. Simply being the largest party doesn't mean that it can form government. The 2017 Goa elections are the best example wherein the largest party, the INC, with 17 seats couldn't form government. Same is the case in Bihar after the breaking of Mahagathbandhan where the single largest party RJD is seating on the opposition benches with around 80 seats and the JDU which has the chief ministerial post has 71 seats. And in my view, this is the best available method for a multi-party democracy as no one candidate can be expected to bag more than 50% votes when number of candidates fighting from a constituency often goes in double digits or close to it.
Sir next crash course on Rajya Sabha !!
when polity stood like a monster and we hypnotised ourselves into the belief that it could never by any possibility be done , you came to rescue us . Thanks sir.
Same pinch ha ha.
😂😂😂 I swear
This man is pure genius.
Yes
Amit - A perfect Example of a Good and Effective Teacher.. Invaluable session. So grateful to you
Sir, I'm going through all your videos and I found huge information and now all my doubts are clear and in fact my way of reading and understanding is changed only because of you. Thank you so much Guruji🙏🙏🙏
Kya padhata hai yeh Banda !!!! Lakhon me ek, aisa teacher milta hai. I can say this without a modicum of doubt, people like you should be in the civil service who can actually bring about a tangible transformation in the society.
Great learning opportunity here. Thank you so much sir. One small correction in the video. PM can also be from RS, as happened with our former PM, Manmohan Singh. He was a RS member. For that matter, she can also be someone from neither of the houses but for a maximum of 6 months. After that, she has to become an MP, either of LS or RS. Example is the election of PV Narasimha Rao as PM.
Never imagined polity can be understood with so ease! Everything just stored subconsciously in mind so well. Thank you sir
I am amaze at your knowledge. All my life of schooling about politics is summaries in 23 minutes.
You are great sir... We want more and more course from you... We want brief summery of CURRENT AFFAIR for Prelim 2018...

Even me to dude...😅
I am a lazy guy who think that time is so very much precious to make a comment on a video, still i am managing some time to write that....... This is next level teaching..... Thanks alot.
Few clarifications required-
1. the simple majority is the majority of the number of MPs present and voting. It needn't be 273 as said by you in the video.
2. the Union council of ministers are broadly divide into 3 parts- cabinet, MoS AND deputy ministers. MoS can get an independent charge but deputy ministers doesn't. deputy ministers usually head some department under cabinet ministers.
Ya... That's right
sir.. You are an incredible person with commitment and professionalism .. Thank you so much for the great effort...
Salute for your service...and thank you. From Tamilnadu.

Lots of love 💛 SHUKRAN SIR ❣️
Your explanation is very clear and precise and the graphics shows more cleared.
Sir, one point was regarding the usage of 1971 census. The 84th amendment provides for the use of 2001 census till 2025 and the next census from then would be in 2031. Also another error is the FTPT system. The point made in other sources referred to the result within a constituency. At centre of one needs to form the government they need simple majority. So if 273 MP's are formed then according to the video they achieved fifty percent of the votes even if it is through coalition.
Dear Amit,
I came across your video when I was searching how seats in the Parliament are allocated after elections. I must admit that this video has given me all the information that I needed.
