Cool to see the younger generation is still playing the retro consoles. I was 12 when the Ps2 first launched, only had a Dreamcast at the time
As a Gen Z person, I actually hate newer consoles, anything from the NES to the Xbox 360 is where gaming was good, now days we are just getting half-assed games and remake after remake. I wish I was born earlier to experience the PS2 launch, I bet it was a sight to see

Any time I say what you just did I get called a 'boomer' lmfao 🤣 and yeah, our resolution and MOST the time FPS is better then it once was, but the majority of our games are half ass'd. My introduction to gaming was the TurboGrafx-16, from that I went to SNES, to n64, then ps1 & Dreamcast.
My first console was a PS2, then OG Xbox, and so on....I honestly can't stand playing games on my PS5 anymore, games are very boring on there. And that's great! I've always wanted a dreamxast specifically for Jet set radio
@@TrollZyGV I got the Dreamcast in January or February of 2000, 11 years old. Picked up Sonic Adventure with it. It was literally NEXT level at the time.

There’s a 3D printed disc protector that you can either print yourself or buy pre-assembled to install into the consoles disc drive to keep your discs from getting scratched by the ribbon cable. 🎮👌
Just something to watch out for in case anyone is unaware, some model-H DS2 controllers are very prone to breaking, so be wary for button inputs giving out on those. The model-A controllers were built with much better components and as such are significantly more durable. Highly recommend holding onto A controllers, all 3 of my H controllers have dead inputs now, while my sole A controller still works flawlessly. You can check the model type by inspecting the rear label print, it will say either A or H on the right hand side. Hope this helps someone!

Reliability wise, witch kind of ps2 would you recommend for? I heard you talking about the ribbon cable and on the slim but are they’re any other issues?
For reliability, I would recommend any PS2 Phat model, and other than the ribbon cable problem, I don't think there are any issues to my knowledge
@@TrollZyGV ive actually had tons of issues with phats. Some weird electrical issues where it slams open the disc drive, and clock batteries suck to replace. Also the laser replacement is harder. ive had 15 ps2s and about 5ish were slims. Least issues on slims but Phats are the best because FMCB is easier to run

My man why would newspaper be unusual :D thats probably second most used packaging material by me and many others haha. Btw that console is quite beat up but seems to be the 90xxxx model those are bit uncommon in silver.
I found newspaper unusual because out of the many orders from ebay none of those sellers used newspaper so I was a bit shocked lol. This consoles clock battery also died I found this out during some cut footage of this video, I ended up replacing it but in the process I accidentally broke the lazer disc ribbon, so I had to order a new ribbon 😅

I'm aware of that issue, but I ordered a new ribbon cable, which should prevent that.

ps2 90000 series has always been the most hated model but if anyone asked me which PS2 is the best right now then hands down 90000 lol tuna fish and mecha pwn has made it into the ultimate model with no region locks at all and full free mc boot support on top of that, the most reilable laser and the quietest running model.
PS2 FAT 50000/55000 and slim 750000 are a disaster in terms of reliability, 70% have dead lasers and 30% of fat has dead PSU on top of that. I think earlier FATs do much better but I only had a dozen of so earlier models so I don't have a conclusive opinion.
Actually i want PS2 but i'm scared it can easily destroy so i just use emulator PS2
As long as you take care of it like you would any console, you should be ok
