I wonder what year was this exactly. The British Medical Journal reported on the link between smoking and lung cancer in 1950, I believe, and In 1962, the Royal College of Physicians (UK) started campaigning for cigarette advertising to be banned on TV. They were successful; the ban took effect in the summer of 1965 (though other tobacco products continued to be advertised for many years to come). Nightmare On Elm Street 1984 has a scene where Nancy's Mother smokes in a hospital. One of the younger Generation asked,"Nancy's Mother smoking in a hospital is PURELY fictional. No way could you smoke in a hospital!" Another Poster responded,"in 1984, you could smoke in hospitals, this isn't fictional at all. Smoking bans were widely enacted in 2000, 16 years after 1984. "
"Many men of medicine" 👍
Mostly Native American medicine men!!
Just quit one week ago on feb 06 2024 been smoking since i was 13 now i just turned 22
Are you still going strong?
A few years later.....
Imagine a doctor making house calls, unthinkable!
I remember when they did. One came to our house, when I was 9 and had appendicitis. That was in 1963. They used to have special license plates too.
I miss my Winstons, healthy that I no longer indulge but it was delightful.
I quit smoking more than 3 years ago. Now I can just watch. No memory about any pleasure at all.
"see how many years they shave off your life"
You may laugh but Drs and Nurses now are on the ching
Back in those days doctors made house calls. The last time I had a house call was in 1963, when I had appendicitis. I was 9 then.
Maybe in 60 years they will say about us "omg how could they believe that smoking marijuana is okay?"
except people have been smoking it for millenia and absolutely no one has died from it but ok buddy-o
Ivan Gerov doesnt mean complications cant arise from smoking marijuana. No doubt is significantly less harmful than Cigarette/Tobacco smoke but you’re daft if you think complications won’t arise from long term smoking of cannabis.
Ivan Gerov ppl in that commercial would have defended cigarettes also, ppl defend what they like!!
i know that this an old post but nevertheless. Marijuana smoking is bad for you....so start vaping it.
retard
Damm maybe I should try Camels 🤔
Girls are more fun! 🙂
I really wonder in the 1950s how many doctors actually smoked. Everyone knew it was bad for you pretty much since smoking was invented. But some people thought a little bit was good for your lungs. There's a big difference between smoking a couple a day vs. smoking a couple of packs a day.
It really does seem odd to see an ad in which doctors are supposedly endorsing a brand of cigarettes. Having said that, as a very young kid, I do remember seeing my first family doctor smoking a pipe during an appointment (he diagnosed me with asthma!).
Camel for docs ,
Marlboro for cowboys,
Lucky Strike for military,
More for Vikings
Parliament for Managers /office workers
Hahaha how could any one ever believe anything as crazy as this *rips Juul*
The good ole days going to my grandparents house everyone drinking beer and smoking I was just short enough to crouch under the smoke cloud in the living room.
Unanimously endorsed by
Pulmonary surgeons
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons
And oncologists...
Gotta have clientele right?
Funny thing is that cigarettes look very attractive when smoked by a youthful person; but when you see old people smoking it is just sad and depressing. Just remember you won't always be young but you will always be addicted.
I used to have a neighbour, across from my condo, who I'd often hear hacking his lungs out. Haven't heard him for a while though.
Also, one of my uncles was a heavy smoker. He died of throat cancer and had no tongue, but had a hole in his neck to breath through. He carried a note pad so he could communicate.
Absolutely agreed it's the enjoyment of smoking is very true furthermore my grandmother smoked Kents on her 94th birthday.
The thing I’d ever smoke out of is one of them big ol goofy pipes that are absurdly long and impractical, that way I can look kinda cool ish
That's insane doctors smoked and recommended it back then. Lol
Back in the 1940s, my mother in law's doctor recommended that she start smoking to calm her nerves.
Back in my army days I became a smoker and preferred Marlboro, but would occasionally smoke Camels. I always thought Camels were stronger and not a smooth as Marlboro.
And people were following the doctor’s example, since he was their role model.
I work at a hospital , I see doctors smoking all the time . What are health benefits of tobacco?
Have you ever asked them if they are smoking a camel?
Once again the brand named most was Camel
none
Nada! I smoke and i have breaks at school or work and it calms the nerves but I’m sure there’s healthier ways to do it! 😬
Seems so weird to hear a doctor recommend cigarettes.
Why? He's making future customers
With those clothes, and hairstyles It looks so cool when they smoke.
Doctor, what kind of weed do you recommend?
"ah yes you have lung cancer"
lights cig
Smoking gives yoh that hacking smoker's cough.
I have a certain amount of envy for the greatest generation that survived WWII & were like, "we beat Hitler, now we're gonna party for 50 years, drink & smoke as much as we want & no one's gonna say a damn thing to us about it"
While their children managed to be both greedy and puritanical.
It wasn't all that great. A lot of vets came home traumatized, and since PTSD wasn't really treated back then, many of them turned to alcohol and became violent towards their families. But you aren't wrong, many of them lived very happy and prosperous lives after the war. Depends where you were and what you saw.

Pharmaceutical commercial. The drugs have just changed form.
I'm going to buy some camels since that's what doctors recommend 😂
Make sure they don't kick you! 🙂
Many years ago in high school my boyfriend was a smoker and I wasn't. I'm pretty sure he must be dead now.
Is there any wonder the trade in camels rocketed in those days. Not only could they cross a desert without water but tasted real good when burned.
It's about propaganda. Most knew perfectly well it was unhealthy. I just was reading a book set in 1860's Russia and a doctor in the book mentions how poor smoking is for your health.
Nothing like a good smoke
nothing like lung cancer
@@ericcartman8265 smoking is good for you demons have manipulated you into believing it's bad for you. An ancient practice that only recently has been taxed and controlled by the demonoc government of the world. Nazi's want you subsurvient to their rhetoric. Nothong bad ever came from smoking a little tobacco.
@@refriedboogie a few of my family members died of smoking, most of them were in their 40s or 50s (of lung cancer), pretty sure the nazis or demons didn't give them that, and its not like bad lifespans run in our family, my older family members are all over 95.
@@ericcartman8265 maybe it depends also what you eat bro i mean in the 50s people ate not that much sugar in a day neither they ate also not the dna manipulated grains or eggs or steroid pumped chcikens so I dont know man . look my grandpa still smoking and he is 95 and he has got 10 children my father too and all of them are health as hell but my aunth and cousin got cancer lever and lung and both never smoked or drink alkhol so maybe it is better to eat lesser think about it. Smoking causes also apetit lost
Sorry for my bad english the english education in turkey is not the best
@@onurkalkan201 I think smoking is pretty bad for you, I mean there is enough evidence, also my family members were mostly vegan and active.
Your english is good btw
I am 51 years old and I am glad that I do not smoke tobacco products of any kind not even with marijuana because I remember when cigarette commercials were dead on television before my time, people thought that cigarettes smoking was pretty cool to the public until doctors learned about the dangers of smoking cigarettesand what it does to a person’s health later on in the future and today, all cigarette packages have a warning labeled on the side of it to let smokers know the dangers of cigarettes smoking.
What's incredible are those who claim smoking pot is safe, even though it has pretty much the same health risks as tobacco.
Won't the hair get caught in your throat ?
Won't the hair get caught in your throat? How stupid were they back then ?
Camel is my favorite cigarette brand to smoke because it’s not like strong like Marlboro.
How times have changed….
Big lung really hurt the tobacco industry, justice for the little guys 🙏
😏🚬💨 Go ahead, smoke ‼️ Do it for you, do it for me, hell--do it for your got dang country ‼️ Light up a 🐪 Camel for 'Merica ‼️
Knew a man that said that he would run a mile for a Camel. This man said that he smoked Camels for 35 years.
Can he run one mile?
You bet your life that he can run a mile !
even my cat asking for cigarettes now after watching this..
My doctor gave me 6 months to live. I couldn't pay the bill. He gave me another 6 months.
