Outstanding explanation. Thanks for simplifying things so we can understand. What can go wrong has gone wrong for Luna Rossa, but that’s the pressures of the Americas Cup. Shall be curious how much more speed Emirates TNZ claim they’ll be getting. Cheers Ak, NZ.
Well, mozzy is doing a different job. We do videos for everyone. We try to be the clearest and simplest possible in explanations for everyone (even if our english is far from perfect).
Thanks for this video. On Luna Rossa, the mainsail traveler is in the hands of the helmsmen. If I understood Oakley Marsh's speech correctly, could the problem be caused by a forgetfulness of who was steering at the time?
Last cup LR hade a great yacht on normal winds for slow high mode. Seen this strenght was not enough for winning cup and going more extremely in design for speed? 🙏 next cup LR is strong back with great young sailors. LR design is nice like kiwi design! Then kiwi Bernasconi is also an italin root designer🤷 Go kiwis and get this cup back to NZ. LR was a great challenger in NZ AC36... we need LR and french.
I dont understand why Britannia’s VMG downwind is so much greater than the Italian boat…the brits are running much deeper angles down breeze. Luna Rossa does appear to point a little higher upwind in light to moderate airs…
I am also wondering the same. It seems that the foils are smaller of the GBR boat which somehow relates. Hope a designer could share some light oin this as well.
@@PressureSailing Fantastic, I will definitely watch it! And after that you can go for a control systems engineer to talk about LR's system shutdown in the preliminary regatta. :)
My take thus far is that Luna Rossa appears to be more maneuverable and agile, and Brittania seems to have been specifically constructed to be an absolute missile in the upper wind range. While not as agile as the Italian boat, the brits appear to be a powerhouse going downwind.
What is happening with the Luna Rossa? .Luna Rossa don't think abou you win Cup. It is wrong.. Just go and play the game, don't about the Ineos points. .Think for what can you do too solve the pronlem. Don't been creedy ..Good luck for the next race.

We will dive into this kind of details in a next episode with a boat designer

So the main sail problem and the fairings breakage after a nosedive are both sailing mistakes, not a reliability issue nor bad luck
We are publishing tomorrow an interview to an engineer specialized in hydrofoils to talk about it
