I was at the 02 show, as much as I love these guys I couldn't help feeling for Daryl, a living legend, but had to keep singing in a lower key...maybe nearing the end of the live shows?
Rich B it was a long tour and I’m sure the Lyme disease doesn’t help as well, but it’s becoming very noticeable that the band is compensating for Daryl at this point. He has flashes of brilliance, but that Private Eyes performance just flat out sounded like he gave up, which is sad. I love Hall and Oates as much as anyone and I hope that if they tour next year they’ll pick back up.
Absolutely agree with you on all of those points& yes I think it was about 10 years ago he was ill with that disease which may have had some effect on his vocal cords. But yes I got the distinct impression that the band were over-compensating for him at times and spinning out instrumental breaks. I pray that they can pick back up too (we have to bear in mind the guy is in his 70s now)...otherwise give up the live shows & don't risk tarnishing the memories. I can't remember leaving a concert feeling so kinda sad & deflated.

Daryl is my fav singer of all time....but his voice is totally gone.
Absolutely terrible show, terrible sound all the way through....MCD report that sound was responsibility of H&O
