That wasn’t the issue, they cooked the engine doing dyno runs the day before, they turned it up to full boost after that run and blew a head gasket, so they never got to find out how fast it could actually go, but it was capable of 1300+bhp

gearing down uses the engine as a brake and it helps along with braking

they did 300km/h on public roads 15-20 years ago with gtr and supra. modern supercars are 99% computers, so they can't be really compared. these cars were not build in wind tunnels and simulations with 1500 horse power and top speed in mind.
