This was a pretty fun brawl, I had a warrior vs warrior game where we both went 20 damage into over draw where we both burned through our decks and had multiple trees of life. Crushing aggro decks with taunt walls and tons of healing has also been fun.
My favorite is saving spells from the first few turns, then Questing Adventurer on turn six, as many spells as possible, then Edwin van Cleef at the end. Two huge minions, probably wiped their board with the spells. Love it!
Anub'arak is an interesting card too. You get a free Tree of Life. Over and over and over and over again. And because he's low health, you can pretty much be sure you'll be trading him with something every time, returning to your hand and giving you another free Tree and can play him again immediately. Only problem is he is 9 mana so you do have to survive that long, and also if he's silence or simply ignored then it can be... Problematic. But still cool, when it does work.
I learned about how Bolf can prevent lethal last time this brawl was active from disguised toast's stream... So I decided to play deck with it as a primary win condition and got to 10-0 score so far. Good feeling to see it mentioned here now :)
Earlier today while I was playing this brawl, I had a dark peddler ( I think ) and I discovered a brave archer, and I was playing as a mage. I freaked out because my opponent was at three health, and that gave me lethal, so I played some random minion that I don't remember, the brave archer, and pinged his face, and nothing happened. It took me like ten seconds to realise that I forgot to play the free spells I got from playing the brave archer and random minion gave me. I lost the following turn.
KRIPP You absolutely have to try this tank Druid deck. It is by far the funnest deck imo. You just clear everything your opponent plays then late game you just get free Twisting Nether, Lay on Hands, and Trees of Life of course. The combos and amount of cards you can mill are just insane. Innervate x2 Naturalize x2 Wrath x2 Owl x1 Youthful Panda x1 Healing Touch x2 Coldlight Oracle x2 Dancing Swords x2 MCT x1 Poison Seeds x1 Swipe x2 Keeper x2 Healbot x2 Sludge Belcher x2 Ironbark Protector x2 Kelthuzad x1 Northsea Kraken x2 Cenarius x1 Imagine the feel when you Ironbark, Panda him back, then twisting nether a huge board.
I think the warrior at 7:30 thought that the Gadgetzan Auctioneer would trigger AFTER astral communion discarded his hand, in which case it would have been a great play.
There's a great combo I came up with: Auchenai + Tree of Life, but not with Bolf, but with this tactic: during the game you try to get a spell that gives armor, or you play Finley for an armor Hero Power. Then, when you have the combo, you heal yourself to max (another tree of life or Reno or just good control to stay healthy), play the armor spell or hero power, play Auchenai and Tree of Life: your opponent dies (well, if he doesn't have armor too) and you live, because you survive the 30 damage. Reno is optional tho, it limits your deck to one Auchenai, so it's harder to draw it. It's a bit more complicated, but it's fancy as hell :D

(This may be the only time that Secret Keeper is a premium card in a warrior deck.) - Double Battle Rage (yes, you need to draw a LOT with this deck) and double Gadgetzan Auctioneer. - Double Sea Reaver, Pyromancer, Bloodmage Thalnos, and Whirlwind. - Double Mana Addict and double Charge. The deck generally plays like this: - Draw, draw, draw, draw, draw. - Play heaps of one-drops and get heaps of free spells (including attack buffs, windfury, and "eye for an eye", any of which can be game-winning. Heck, there are so many game-winning one-cost and two-cost spells, you can practically take your pick.) - On turn 7/8, play Mana Addict, Charge, and every zero-cost spell that you have accumulated. - Win. (Or get them down to 1-3 health after playing "eye for an eye", watch them sigh with relief, then attack you with everything they've got. Yeah, this deck counters ice-block really really hard.) I've player four games with it - two against magi with ice block - and haven't lost a match yet. I don't think anybody playing their "summoning stone" decks is expecting a Mana Addict OTK deck.
Man, Kripp turned that Summoning stone into like, a Portal Golem or something... That would be an cool card, honestly. It would be like Mech Warper but beefier, more expensive, and effects all minions or something.

hehe i actually came to know kripp during his Path of exile days, the builds he showcased man, the builds he showcased, the barbarian jumping one, not the most efective but viable and helluva fun.
It's weird, I usually dislike brawls where there's a heavy RNG element, especially if the games take long, but in this TB the games can last for ages and the RNG is all over the place and I love it! I've had games where the RNG screwed me hard and I lost the game after playing for 15 minutes and I wasn't even mad.

Just a lot can happen that makes it pretty fun, plus some strategy to actually using your spells wisely to use with summoning stone

You don't get destroyed in four turns, you can come back even if your opponent has a full board, 30 health and 5 armor for several turns, and you almost never run out of options, as long as you spent some time thinking about how to craft your deck.

Nice, the Tree of Life, Auchenai, Bolf combo seems much more easy to pull off than the Tree of Life, Auchenai, Armorsmith combo I was thinking up which requires playing a warrior with thought steal or something.
Just sam That's why I said thought steal, I've had an armorsmith before that way (minus the Auchenai at the time), and it's Tavern Brawl, the point is to make silly decks like that. But yeah I agree, the odds of getting what you want are very tiny, but it's better than having to craft a Bolf :D
+Manaan S17 Yes, I'm pretty sure Tree of Life simply heals a character for it's maximum hit points, So if your opponent has 13 life and 15 armor I think they will die from the Auchenai effect. I think they won't though if they have more than 30 hp in health + armor.

As long as the only 9-cost spell is "Tree of Life", the card Anub'arak will be broken in this format. Fortunately, haven't seen anyone try to do that this time.

When Anub'arak dies, it goes back into your hand, so you can recast it again later.How much damage do you need deal to kill your opponent when they effectively have infinite access to Tree of Life?The only real way to deal with it is to find a way to silence the Anub'arak and I've had people hold a Tree of Life until they have Summoning Portal and be fortunate to get it back.BTW - being able to constantly case a 9/4 that gives you 4/4's, eventually you get board control and then you don't need to case Tree of Life anymore.
My opponent and I were playing a load of 9 drops and continued to get Tree Of Life and went into fatigue and just kept going back and fourth with excavated evil and it was the longest game i've ever played (About 75 turns)
4:52 How is that combo difficult to pull off? all you need is ANY 9 drop, Bolf and Auchenai that you can run 2 of. Many current combo decks need 4 or 5 SPECIFIC cards to work.
It's weird reading this title, because my experience of this tarvern brawl was more like: -Realise the rules are some repeated shit -Make some random mech mage crap deck -Win my game by some clutch RNG -Thx for the pack, cya next week
The great thing about this format is..you can get away with mostly commons and a handful of rares (Mana addict and questing adventurer) and just go absolutely full aggro. Nothing but 1 and 2 drop creatures (only creatures no spells) with the adventurer being the one exception at 3 mana and.. ..well it turns out the vast majority of cards for 1 or 2 mana are either removal, direct damage or creature buff. Not all, but way more then enough that such a deck can routinely kill on turn 4 or 5, seems to laugh off the first (but maybe not the second) summoning stone activation (At least I cleared my opponents entire board the 5-6 times I saw that card played against me) and in general, is quite happy for you to return its minions to its hand or draw it cards. Whats that? Put another divine shield on my guy? Give my guy another +2 attack? Get another 2 mind blasts? Thanks opponent! Oh, and GG.
So do you even need Ramshield? Doesn't Tree just restore each player to full health not give them 30 health until max? For example if your opponent has 15 or less life Auchenai will 'heal''damage' them 15 life and if you were at 16 health it would 'heal''damage' you only 14 leaving you at 2. Is that correct?
Nope, even though it says that it heals you for 14 on the animation, it functions like Healbot would. If you play a Healbot with Auchenai active, you take 8 damage, even if you are at 26 health, so with Tree of Life it heals everyone for 30.
am I misunderstanding something or is bolf ramshield literally just worse than a card with the same stats and taunt? all bolf does is allow the attacking characters to take no damage surely?
I really liked this Tavern Brawl as well. I didn't think Summoning Stone would be a good choice though. I suppose if you play a lot of minions you get a lot of spells which makes a lot of minions but they seems a bit to crazy and you'll fill your board and hand a lot more often. You made it work but the people I've played against not so much. One guy had the RNG gods frown on him and he got a fel reaver after casting a 5 cost mana spell. I spent the entire turn milling his deck with 0 cost spells. We were only five turns in and he ended up with 7 cards.

+Filozoficzne Robaki I think you see a decent variety of decks until you get to about rank 10. And you do also get the occasional interesting tier 2 deck that keeps winning in some month because more people that month are playing one of the 2 or so decks it happens to be strong against.

As long as the only 9-cost spell is "Tree of Life", the card Anub'arak will be broken in this format. Fortunately, haven't seen anyone try to do that this time.

When Anub'arak dies, it goes back into your hand, so you can recast it again later.How much damage do you need deal to kill your opponent when they effectively have infinite access to Tree of Life?The only real way to deal with it is to find a way to silence the Anub'arak and I've had people hold a Tree of Life until they have Summoning Portal and be fortunate to get it back.BTW - being able to constantly case a 9/4 that gives you 4/4's, eventually you get board control and then you don't need to case Tree of Life anymore.
My opponent and I were playing a load of 9 drops and continued to get Tree Of Life and went into fatigue and just kept going back and fourth with excavated evil and it was the longest game i've ever played (About 75 turns)
4:52 How is that combo difficult to pull off? all you need is ANY 9 drop, Bolf and Auchenai that you can run 2 of. Many current combo decks need 4 or 5 SPECIFIC cards to work.
Because you have to reach turn 9, have the time to spend your whole turn playing a 9 drop. And then have aucheni and bolf in hand.
The one question that happened, is if the Auchenai Tree of Life can bypass enchanted armor.

less mana cost, bolf sucks and you can have two of the armors. (or just run all three)
It's weird reading this title, because my experience of this tarvern brawl was more like:
-Realise the rules are some repeated shit
-Make some random mech mage crap deck
-Win my game by some clutch RNG
-Thx for the pack, cya next week

The great thing about this format is..you can get away with mostly commons and a handful of rares (Mana addict and questing adventurer) and just go absolutely full aggro. Nothing but 1 and 2 drop creatures (only creatures no spells) with the adventurer being the one exception at 3 mana and..
..well it turns out the vast majority of cards for 1 or 2 mana are either removal, direct damage or creature buff. Not all, but way more then enough that such a deck can routinely kill on turn 4 or 5, seems to laugh off the first (but maybe not the second) summoning stone activation (At least I cleared my opponents entire board the 5-6 times I saw that card played against me) and in general, is quite happy for you to return its minions to its hand or draw it cards. Whats that? Put another divine shield on my guy? Give my guy another +2 attack? Get another 2 mind blasts? Thanks opponent! Oh, and GG.

So do you even need Ramshield? Doesn't Tree just restore each player to full health not give them 30 health until max? For example if your opponent has 15 or less life Auchenai will 'heal''damage' them 15 life and if you were at 16 health it would 'heal''damage' you only 14 leaving you at 2. Is that correct?
Nope, even though it says that it heals you for 14 on the animation, it functions like Healbot would. If you play a Healbot with Auchenai active, you take 8 damage, even if you are at 26 health, so with Tree of Life it heals everyone for 30.

I have a good Time with combo warrior. Charge and Mana addict/questing adventurer. Easy OTK. Rest of the deck card draw and silence/charge minions.
am I misunderstanding something or is bolf ramshield literally just worse than a card with the same stats and taunt? all bolf does is allow the attacking characters to take no damage surely?
It's 'situational'. It's the only card that can taunt up against spells. In every other aspect it is considerably worse though.

I really liked this Tavern Brawl as well. I didn't think Summoning Stone would be a good choice though. I suppose if you play a lot of minions you get a lot of spells which makes a lot of minions but they seems a bit to crazy and you'll fill your board and hand a lot more often.
You made it work but the people I've played against not so much. One guy had the RNG gods frown on him and he got a fel reaver after casting a 5 cost mana spell. I spent the entire turn milling his deck with 0 cost spells.
We were only five turns in and he ended up with 7 cards.
