It's always fun to catch up with Paul, but Lyndsey Parker did such a great job as an interviewer! She knows her KISStory and brought in a lot of fresh perspectives. Kudos Lyndsey!

    1) Paul, been a fan since '75 but didn't even know you had a soul band. Paused this interview, sampled some tunes, and on Oo Baby Baby your transition from falsetto to full voice was seamless. As a vocal coach, it choked me up a little.
    2) Found out about Wicked Lester via this video, and again, paused it, sampled some tunes, and can definitely hear the motown/soul influence.
And 3) Most importantly, who is this wonderfully beautiful creature conducting your interview. =;0)

Why are people and this interviewer surprised that Paul would not relate to the music of Motown. HE WAS BROUGHT UP IN THAT ERA when this music was played why wouldn’t he? Paul is more than just KISS! If that was all he did in his life his life would be quite boring for himself and others. EVERYONE has more than one side of themselves. I think he is so multi-talented AND GOOD FOR HIM!!

Kiss is going to Australia in November to finish their touring commitments without Peter who unfortunately missed going the first time around. Is the Screaming Jets still a band???I would tend to think that Doc McGee would look for a band from down under.Kiss learned a lesson from the New York Dolls on how and what not to do when recording writing and trying to sustain themselves and become better musicians.leiber& Krebs did with Aerosmith with what they couldn’t do with the dolls. The Mercer street recordings in 1972 with Bill Murcia on drums had better versions of the songs than on the actual albums.I actually heard a bootleg of kiss in 1973 or 74 of them tuning on stage with an intro of Are you Ready to Rock Are you ready to Roll If you are put your 2 lips together and welcome KISS!!!!!!!

I applaud his mask support, people can be carriers unknowingly, this is a fact about germs. Just like I appreciate the dentist having always wornq it. Too many have been infected and worse, such a simple thing that can help with prevention, plays with lives to not wear them appropriately.

There appears to be a misunderstanding, not necessarily a mask, but an extension of his personality, where he went from a masked Lone Ranger in amityville at the daisy, to a star at Madison Square Garden on the Rock and Roll over tour in 1977!!!!!

What I do not like at all... AT ALL... is the way he shames people who think differently from him as being wrong or not having good reasons for their viewpoint. Or he proclaims they are just following politics or not listening to the experts. I have been reading and considering all sides all through this. I hate the masks but I still wear them where I have to, despite disagreeing with them. I wear them in the short spurts I have to and otherwise do not. The cloth mask "protection" is a pure theory that plenty of doctors and experts actually do not share. When people NEED protection, they wear hazmat suits or far superior tasks. The theory is that cloth masks will protect from large droplets falling at or on people. HOWEVER, I have seen sooo few people out there shouting, coughing, or sneezing at people... in a mask or not. So, we are theoretically protecting from something that is uncommon trying to lower that risk while doing other behaviors that increase risks. It is well understood that people wearing masks struggle with keeping the mask clean and not touching it or their face or door knobs or any other items. All the back and forth touching of things back and forth would logically actually increase the spreading of viral material. Some of us believe not only that the cloth masks offer little to no real help, but that they actually increase risks. You can also look at when mask mandates went into effect and I have yet to see any area where right afterward you saw any noticeable drop in case numbers... in many cases you see the numbers rise. To me, that also... SCIENTIFICALLY.. adds reason to believe that the mask wearing becomes counterproductive. People should be allowed to review these aspects and find their own path.
Also, the smug notion that people only cheer or not cheer based on whether they agree or disagree. Many of us are not that way... we feel anyone should have their opinion, but no one should be mandating the opinion everyone should have and generally preaching opinions judgmentally to your fans and customers is just plain bad business. I am 1000% fine with Paul or anyone choosing to wear a mask... I am not fine with them acting like those who disagree are idiots for having that viewpoint. The more artists or businesses get smug and push their side in a way that shames those who disagree with them, it is a turnoff. I have lost a lot of respect for Paul this past year. Not for the opinions he has... but for how judgmental and negative he is against differing opinions.

Hi, well written reply but what you don't appear to know, and take this as fact from someone who lived and followed public debates prior to the rise of right wing media in the early 90s....
This "other side" you give equal weight to is all produced by right wing think tank operators who literally get paid millions to do nothing but monitor the news and create a fictional alternative perspective with only one goal, to confuse the public creating electoral stalemates essentially handicapping our government from getting anything good done.
There is no doubt about masks, even dual layer basic masks, reducing covid spread somewhere between 50%-70%.
It's a scientific fact proven in the lab and evidenced all over the world where masks were mandated.
If you believe anything different it's because your mind was hacked by a right wing network of activists, often pretending to be "experts" too, who have spent all last year trying to prop up the GOP withies in order to hold true to their anti-government idelogy which forbids them from priorozing human life in any situation that would chip away at their primary goal of making sure people don't trust the government enough to get anything good done....
Prior to 1990 and Rush Limbaugh, FOX, etc science or any area of public concern told us the facts and data.... then the educated public would demand action such as green energy, better maybe universal health care because it's cheaper and covers everyone, etc...
And that was destroying the entire Conservative agenda so in order to stop Democracy from functioning as it was designed, right wing think tanks starting crafting logical sounding but seriously fake alternative news pumped into the American mind thru coast to coast Conservative talk radio and FOX.
Right wing news is more fake and full of conspiracies & lies then most people can comprehend.
This is not true of cnn or msnbc, both of whom are biased, as anyone in the news would be when their competition is propaganda, but still true.
You may not like "liberal" news and their obsession with race but they still are real honest news.
I literally don't think there is one Conservative news network that is real news. They weren't created to tell you the news, they were created so that when science tell us to change our sources of energy, or to wear masks, and those facts conflict with the right wing agenda, right wing news will be used to subvert the progress and evolution of the human species.
Want proof? When Dems ran everything between 1930-1980, things got done, USA became #1 and we were not as divided.
Post 1980s when the GOP and right wing media took over, nothing but division and a government that can't govern for the people...

@@thedesertdweller I notice who shares my personal viewpoints which were formulated by common sense, having lived life, and a mix of research... my viewpoints are never shaped purely by what news or sites feed me. That has been a big misconception I have seen people push this past year: that opinions are formed by listening to Trump or someone else or some organization on the right... and it is just not the case. Wearing cloth masks makes little sense. For the unlikely scenarios they might provide some protection (a person yelling, sneezing or coughing directly at you in close proximity), there are more common scenarios where the mask increases risk on a regular basis (touching the mask and other things regularly all day long). I understand the theories of the cloth mask wearing, I just do not buy them.

    • @thedesertdweller
      @thedesertdweller 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@jeffw5168 "I understand the theories of the cloth mask wearing, I just do not buy them."
And the reason you don't buy them is because as competent as you, we, etc believe we are, there are right wing/Libertarian political/religious operatives with advanced degrees.... psychology PHDs', marketing PHD's, etc who work in think tanks being paid hundreds of thousands a year to essentially take any topic in the public square, using the real names of Liberal politicians and any entity that cooperates with them, and create a fictional narrative to undermine them, slander them, etc. There is, and has been for decades starting in the mainstream with Rush Limbaugh, to warp every aspect of public policy to a narrative that casts doubt regarding government & experts on all matters in which the truth has a Liberal bias... And this is most issues to be frank.
You can even see the pattern as I have over the years. If any new issue arises, Hannity, FOX hosts, etc lay low for a day or so as these think tanks create the fiction to be spread, then immediately all their attacks, rhetoric, use of specific attack words, are all repeated. Clearly there is much coordination behind the scenes, investigators have gotten hold of the leaked daily notes all FOX shows receive as to how to frame issues of the day, what to say about masks or anything else.
These alternative realities are distributed across our public square, FOX, right wing radio, various blogs from medicine to financial. They create this doubt by manipulating statistics such as they have done with climate change.
They take an issue in which the consensus of all actual experts in any given field are in total agreement but find the few cranks, very articulate cranks who have an answer for everything and speak with total confidence. They write articles, books, TV & podcast appearances and before you know it, much of the public actually thinks the debate over whatever the issue is, say climate change as an example or masks, is a legitimate 50/50 split of opinion when in reality, it's more on the order of 96/4. And when asking these propagandists to explain any aspect of whatever the issue is they are profoundly articulate, confident and speak using all sorts of technical jargon that could fill a book and much of the general public just accepts it and literally believes they have studied the issue and are more informed than most people. It's total psychological manipulation.
Because the right wing/Libertarians are ideologically motivated, facts are almost never taken at face value. While many are just in it for money, power, fame or to resist who they hate by any means necessary, many are true believers with low levels of autism. I've met these types everywhere in life, functional low level autistics that are just slightly off. We've all met them, it's a person who is highly capable in a specific area, borderline genius, but are also incapable of processing opposing facts, data or observations outside of their myopic focus, thus incapable of combining them for a more accurate comprehension of what is going on and what needs to be done.
An easy example is the right wing obsession with people on food stamps or public financed birth control; all they can process is wanting to cut those programs to save taxpayer money. But they have no concept that it's way more expensive to society when a bunch of people have kids they can't afford or cause social upheaval with no way to have a secure food supply. The idea that they'll just wake up and become "responsible" ignores the reality of human life, the sexual urge, folks with social or mental dysfunctions who just can't take care of themselves, drugs, alcohol, etc. Allowing people to "game" the system, as right wingers frame it, still costs less and creates more happy humans, both conditions that make society better.
Digressing back to the right wing media problem, there have been studies in which people who consume right wing/libertarian/alternative media are not just less informed than folks who blindly accept the general consensus, they are factually less informed then folks who watch zero news. Think about that. So with some of what you wrote, and with all due respect, that appears to be why you somehow think you know more than folks such as Anthony Fauci who've spent their entire lives deeply immersed in the crossroads between the hard science of infectious diseases and public policy.
For people who don't know the factual timeline it was Dr. Anthony Fauci, in January 2020, who was the primary force in compelling the US Federal Government to go all in full force, no delay, no bickering over patent/profit contract issues, to sink billions into a vaccine by coordinating with multiple paths of development using many companies. Were it not for his efforts way back then to fast track vaccine development we'd still be losing 3K lives a day to covid.
Digressing once again, these right wing think tanks understand that the goal is not to brainwash everyone, if they can just create doubt in 5%-15% of the general public, it's enough to literally change the outcome of elections and keep the GOP in power even though on a line by line basis most GOP voters don't even agree or know what Republicans actually do in office which is nothing for the people; doing a great job would undercut their ideology of always slandering the concept of government which is the goal, privatize everything which in effect neuters the government from forcing the ownership class to follow safety & worker regulations, preserve the environment, etc. All they have to do is turn off a few % of the people from supporting Democrats.
You're also betraying a lack of math, of exponential comprehension. Even if cloths masks "only" cut the risk of Covid by 30%, that's a lot considering the exponential nature of viral spread, especially if you double it. Now combine that with lockdowns, social distancing, etc and we could've been done with this pandemic last summer with less than 50K-100K dead. We'd also have been able to stop the mutations from making the situation even worse.
Those are not my opinions, they are based upon multiple models and simple reality. Even Trumps own coronavirus team members, now that they can speak honestly to the public, are on the record saying most deaths after that 1st wave, 100K or so, were completely preventable had their boss not politicized the pandemic. Countries that followed the same guidelines of what scientists & the Democratic Party were advocating, such as most of Asia, Australia, New Zealand, etc stopped the pandemic in it's tracks with a death rate equivalent to the USA maybe only having 50K dead had our results been the same. And since we're all human, it's illogical to doubt that what worked there would've worked here.
We have nearly 600K dead Americans because of people such as you who resisted following the science due to media illiteracy. The virus came from China. China has 5 times out population. Their total death count is 10K and their economy was still preserved and totally rocking because they followed basic science and sound public policy... Policies based upon science that arguably was created by Western Cultures post the Renaissance.... This is quite ironic considering that the loudest voices telling people to ignore the recommendations of science were coming from the so called patriots and defenders of Western Culture. That right there is a telltale that the entire right wing champion of Western Culture is all a scam used to push their true agenda of anti-government propaganda. They're American Taliban dressed in suits.
Were we to have had similar results to nations that followed sound public policy, it would've required cooperation and an admission by the Libertarian/right wing forces of the West to support and champion the government. And since that conflicts with their entire reason for being, at least 500K American lives were sacrificed to preserve right wing/Libertarian ideology in the eyes of half this country.
How do I know all this? I come from a family in which a few members were very involved in right wing politics since the 80's. While they're all dead now the damage to the country and even my own family has been tragic.
Future historians and Americans will look back at this pandemic over the next century and accurately come to realize it for what it actually was, an ideologically motivated war crime every bit as evil as gunning people down in the streets but instead of it being fought with guns and tanks, it was a war waged upon the consciousness of Americans through right wing media exploiting freedom of speech and lack of proper media regulations.
