Sankalpa Nritayayan is one of the premiere Odissi dance institutes in Kolkata.
Here the learners are taught the basics of Odissi dance (Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra gharana) with utmost care, guiding their way to perfection. Care is taken so that they get the clear idea of different Taals and Raagas which form the pillar of dance. From the very beginning students are given lessons on the origin of Odissi Dance, they are told about the famous Odissi Dancers and their works, as well as the current scenario of classical dance in India and abroad. Gradually they are taught about the make-up, costume, stage craft and other necessary things intricately linked to Odissi Dance that makes a dancer complete.
Apart from regular classes in Kolkata and Jalpaiguri,Sankalpa Nrityayan occasionally organizes workshops to enhance the students' learning and they are encouraged to give audience to good performances in the city.
