I had tears hearing how his dear mother loved and supported his dream.

Representing CIA 👏🏻 I rememeber when I told friends I wanted to be a Pastry Chef and many thought i was joking, but after lpersevering and getting a leadership scholarship, I was able to pursue my dream. It’s been a lot of hard work, long hrs and such joy to do what I love

outstanding story. i am a firm believer and supporter of people seeking out trade schools and aa degrees. get the basic education and then go do your work. he is enjoying his career and honing his craft and, i understand, not with a huge debt from education.

Don't forget! "In the restaurant business in general you make pennies, not dollars." The fantasy of starting up a high end restaurant is just that. The reality is 24/7 blood, sweat and tears. These heart-warming stories where a chef actually makes a house-buying living are the stuff of dreams. Think food-truck.

My mom taught me to run away from the people who bring me down and to surround myself with people who bring me upward and onward.
Graduated valedictorian of my highschool and got into my dream college but partied freshman year with a subesequent 2.87 GPA. My "premed" college counselor told me to look at physician assist schools. I have respect for my mid-level coworkers, but I had decided when I was 12 years old that I want to be a surgeon.
Life happens, but we always do our own course corrections. Would like that college guidance counselor to self-reflect to evaluate whether his current job is the best fit.
I completed med school & just finished my 5th year of residency training. Am now at my first attending physician job at a great company and am happy.
