      Thank You’ 🙏🏻 I do hope You like them, they are sweet though, but I think body and tannin structure could be similar. I love fortified wines a lot! 🍷✨

    In portugal we say it is the river, which is so beautifull and virtuous that the sun light it reflects and projects onto the hills, makes the grapes stronger and sweeter.
    Im not from douro valley, in my reagion we produce Dão wine (its not very good by international standards)

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I remember the first time I visited Douro valley, I thought I could start writing poetry, it was so beautiful.
      We don’t have a lot of Dão wines represented in my country, but when I was in Portugal, I remember liking them quite a lot. 😉

      @killer0178 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dão not really good? Are you kidding? It's gaining more and more recognition among wine enthusiasts and markets going head to head with Burgundy wines, both red and white.

      Brother I am from the Douro but Dao and Bairrada have excellent wines. Every year that passes the other DOC’s are gaining recognition too and it’s great for all of portugal

    Agnese - I would "love" to think one day you will visit Rutherglen, Central Victoria, Australia where you may discover some of the greatest fortified wines on the planet.

    It may be a silly question, but are there any non sweet port wines? Or less sweet? Thanks

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not a silly question at all. There are some producers, who are making drier styles (still sweet though) such as Dow’s. There are also some dry white ports available in the market. I have never seen vintage or tawny with age indication in dry style, though. But I should do more research. 🤔🤔🤔

    It is unfortunate that these Ports are unavailable in Mumbai, India.
    Please suggest..

      Only a few brands of Ports which are locally manufactured..but the quality and taste of Portuguese Ports are amazing..
      The taste of Sandeman's Ruby Port still lives in memory.. 🙏

    How long can a bottle last once opened? How should it be stored?

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on each style, I mean the oxidative styles can be stored open for longer, than ruby ones. I usually store my port wines quite a long time, really even more than month for the tawny styles. And always in the cold and dark place. 🤷‍♀️

      @@NoSediment Thanks!

    I tried a ruby port that tasted and smelled almost exclusively like hoisin sauce. I certainly have some appreciation for the salty overtones with some sweet fruity undertones but it was quite hard for me to get through a 2 oz portion without holding my nose at the overwhelming salinity. I think I'll stick to Sauternes for now.

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is fine, we should all drink what gives us pleasure. However, there might be a chance that this wine was ruined. 😓

    • @robp.7769
      @robp.7769 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NoSediment I think just cheap! Bottom tier Sandemans is likely not a good starting point. As someone who orders a side of hoisin sauce with nearly every Chinese dish, I can see the appeal of the flavor. Perhaps just a bit too much here with a sort of oxidative quality that overwhelmed the fruit. I'll definitely give this wine a try again later on -- perhaps a Tawny as I think I'd enjoy the nutty nuances.

    Just to help, it's pronounced the Duero VALLEY, with a hard 'V', and Val as in the female name VALERIE, not a 'W' so not Wally, which is a something of a joke male personal name! Otherwise excellent pronunciation and subject matter!

      @@NoSediment It is very nice of you to reply. I was not making fun of your diction, people that are native speakers from different regions have difficulty with words. Just funny when you're listening and you think you hear one thing and you know it's another.
